Hello Hawks! It’s surprising how fast the year goes! I hope you are up and ready for a new year of service projects! Some reminders are that DCON registration is due before February 1st! It is also now online! It is an amazing experienced to get you inspired in the cub! To presidents and secretaries, don’t forget to fill out your reports! That way, I’m able to keep in contact with all 7 clubs. Bookmark it! The T-Shirt Design Contest ended and now it’s time to order! Orders will be due sometime in the middle of February until further announcements. Shirts shows club and divisional unity. It is very important for DCON! I HIGHLY suggest you check out Division 50 Resources and the PNW Resources! That is all! In love and service,

What is DCON? This is where 2000 Key Clubbers from the Pacific Northwest (Canada, ID, WA, and OR) come together to celebrate the service they've done, have fun and receive officer training. Day 1: Meet And Greet!!! Be warned, tons of spirit. Opening Session: A welcome! Usually there's an inspirational guest speaker too! Night: Key Clubbers will attend the District Execs Election. Day 2: Workshops/Forums- Training, Inspirational, mingle, service projects 101, etc... Closing Session Governors Ball: Semi-Formal Dance Day 3: Go home

How much does it cost?

Where & When?

Depending on the rooming it WA State Convention Center will cost at least $265 per per@ Seattle, WA son. The cost includes the 2 nights at a fancy hotel, food, March 18th—20th shirts, and more!

How do you register? Go to pnwkeyclub.weebly.com and on the pink bar click “DCON”. Everything you need to know is there. Registration is due FEBUARY 1st!

Why should you go? Besides that the fact it is fun, it shows you the true meaning of Key Club and you’ll experience things you wouldn't have at home.

On August 11th, dozens of Key Clubbers from far Idaho to central Washington dove into their rad rides to Moses Lake High School early morning. For what? To attend Eastside Rally 2015: Surfing into Service! That day we had a fun time with ice breakers, forums, watching the governor squint as they devour the lemons. During Eastside Rally, there was a miracle minute for MNT In which we raised $182.97! Guess what! Division 50 won second place in the miracle minute for MNT!!! The winning division of the spirit stick was Division 9! Outside. Afterwards we watched the 16 winners of Splash n LTG raffle splashed the lieutenant governors with a bucket of water! But wait, the day isn’t over! To finish the day, there was a heated water balloon fight! What’s amazing is that this year is the most attendees Division 50 ever had! Awesome jobs hawks!

1. Lunches/ Snacks for Teacher Fundraiser From sandwiches to pretzels to cookies, take pre-orders from teachers and then set a day to make them. Once you’re done, time to deliver them! 2. Restaurant Takeovers PLAN in ADVANCE! Typically restaurants will agree to give you a percentage of the sales on a designated night for all of the customers that your organization brings to their business. Sometime volunteers might work in the restaurant that night! The $$ you raise depends on the # of people you bring! 3. Coffee Delivery Work with your local coffee shop to take orders, collect money, purchase coffee, and deliver it to people who ordered! Be sure to charge a certain amount to deliver coffee for your fundraiser! 4. Christmas Wrap Create a service to wrap gifts for a price! You can spread the word through your school or mall and then with a team of volunteers, wrap their presents for them. 5. Bake Sale Everyone loves baked goods! Have a bake sale! Sell cupcakes, cake pops, muffins, brownies and anything in between at your school, meeting, or local farmers markets. Get a list of volunteers to bring in baked goods or create a committee and have a big baking day at someone’s house! If held at school, make sure to check with your school or sport event for approval to have the bake sale. Best to sell during lunch. 6.

Holiday Grams! During holidays such as, Christmas & Valentine’s day, students can pay to send a note, or note & candy to another student. Works best if sold during lunch and after school at an area with lots of students.

Description: Leave donation jar’s at a store’s cash register and let the money grow! Every week or two check up on the jar

What you need: • jars (make sure it’s sealed TIGHT) • ELIMINATE Info Label (Provided by me, just ask!) • Store’s Permission

Instructions: 1. Make the jars! Make it eye catching and don’t forget the informative label on what it is. (I have the label) 2. Pick possible places and assign to a Key Club member. He/She will be responsible checking the jar biweekly/weekly and pick it up. 3. Contact the owner or manager of the store. Introduce who you are, briefly inform them about the project and what is ELIMINATE and ask if they would be willing to participate. 4. If so, ask how long would like the jar be there, and inform them WHO will pick it up and check on it. It is best if you write it on paper so they don’t forget. 5. Once it’s done, send them a thank you card! If that store isn’t doing so well on donations, then take the jar and try somewhere else!

Fortune Cookie - Grams Description: Make, sell and deliver fortune cookies with a message written by the customer and candy to send to the seniors on their last week of school or those who are testing (anyone)!

Things Needed • School permission • Little Candy • Felt cut into 4.5 in diameter circles • Strips of paper • Craft Glue • (optional) Ribbon • Pipe cleaners/floral wire HOW TO MAKE IT *THERE’S A VIDEO ON HOW TO MAKE IT ON YOUTUBE*

Step 1Put a piece of ribbon slightly shorter than 4 1/2 inches. Using wire cutters, cut a piece of floral wire slightly shorter than the length of ribbon.

Step 2 Using craft glue, place the wire to the center of the felt circle. Glue ribbon on top, covering the wire. Let dry 30 minutes.

Step 3 Fold the felt circle in half, so ribbon is inside cookie. Next, angle the sides toward each other, bending the wire at its halfway point and forming a fortune-cookie shape, as shown.

Step 4 Carefully peel back one flap of the felt cookie, and insert a paper fortune and a 2-3 candies. Fold the flap back over to close cookie around contents.

Selling Fortunes 1. Pick a set day and advertise! Such as flyers on the lunch tables? (Be sure to pick them up) Pick a time/period in the school day your members will deliver them.

2. CUSTOMERS PREORDER Make 3 fortunes for display and have the paper strips ready. Customers fill out a the paper strip message and form containing at least this information: • From • To • Class/RM # in Period __

**You might need access to student’s schedule if they do not know the RM #. Just ask your teacher or the office!

3. DELIVER! ——————————————————————Adjust to whatever you need. You can have premade messages and have customer pick a message! 20
