WORK EXPERIENCE Bar Staff September 2010 - Present The Adelphi Pub Fylde St Preston Lancashire Since starting employment at the Adelphi in September I have developed into a much more independent and confident person. Socially it has given the valuable skills to be able to communicate with a range of different customers. Working behind the bar has also taught me how to deal professionally with disorderly or rowdy members of the public. My customer service skills have also increased as one of my main duties is providing all-round customer satisfaction. I have also participated in organising events and charity nights at the pub, and designed all of the promotional material used. Main • • •
Roles: Serving food and drink to customers General housekeeping and restocking Delivering excellent customer service
Sales Assistant May 2010 – September 2010 Hallett Retail in New Look Widnes Shopping Park Cheshire
Sales Advisor February 2010 – May 2010 Orange Retail New Mersey Retail Park Liverpool
Technical Clerk February 2008 – July 2009 Multi-Tech Contracts Ltd Bowood Court Warrington
After finishing university last summer, I spent four and a half months learning about certain aspects of the high street fashion industry working for Hallett Retail as a Sales Advisor. My duties were to perform the tasks of the concession’s manager on her days off and holidays such as communicating with brands and clients as well as giving feedback on weekly sales figures and ideas. I was also responsible for receiving deliveries, carrying out promotions and sale markdowns.
Even though I was only part of the Orange Retail team for just over three months, I learnt a vast array of valuable skills such as providing excellent customer service, building better rapport with customers, and quick problem solving. However due to finishing university for summer at the end of April I took the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a role best suited to myself and my fashion and brand promotion studies.
I decided to defer my university degree for a year as I was offered an amazing job opportunity from Multi-Tech Contracts Limited. I started as a technical clerk, but received more important responsibilities such as designing the company brochure and being the office photographer after showing good initiative and dedication to the role. Working in a full time position before heading to university was a huge benefit as it gave me a lot of life experience as well as work, like becoming more independent.
