Objectives The Poetry Foundation of Cincinnati is a community based facility and open to the public and in particular to the city core population. This project required considerate thought within the site when designing a building for a particular urban context of Cincinnati OTR district. The experiential qualities, sequential experiences, and the movement through space was the focus of this project. Preserving the existing condition of the space and designing a buidling around the existing building was the first task. The existing building was in the middle of the new buiding to be used as a circulation hallway that consist of both elevator and staircases.

Objectives This project is about creating a restaurant with a chef of your choice. The chef I have chosen was Jeong Kwan, a well known South Korean monk and chef. I wanted the restaurant to evoke the spirit of buddhism - its spiritual calmness and tranquility. The focus of the restaurant is a sequential movement with sesnsoriality using the quality of light and the raw materials to engage users through interaction with multiple senses. Combining all the philosophies in to the restaurant, the shape of water ripple becomes the major symbol that drives the project.

context North Side | Urban Village

With a unique blend of classic homes, eclectic/traditional businesses and entertainment venues, and a long tradition of community activism, Northside is the place to be for those who want an urban environment, yet also want to connect with their neighbors as if they lived in a small town. Northside Farmers Market is one of the highlights of this neighborhood. Supporting local businesses, the farmers market provides various vendors a way to sell seasonal produces. Each market contains enjoyment such as live music, children’s activities, and cooking/nutrition workshops for everyone. http://www.northside.net

audience Attracted by many young professionals, North side is nice hang-out neighborhood with lots of bars, cafes, and restaurants. The target audience for this restaurant are millennials, who pursue well-being lives. Specifically, the suggested audience are those who want to break out of a routine, learn a valuable life lesson and wish to experience some meaningful moments with their special ones.

philosophy the Garden is the Kitchen The garden is our connection to

mother earth. There shouldn’t be any order or control in the garden because it should be a heaven as a food source as much as a food source for the monastery. Sharing food is a moment of Communion When cooking and sharing a meal with someone, we are partaking in our feelings for one another. Food is what communicates these emotions to each other.

concept

Enlightenment and Tranquility The restaurant is the

garden and the kitchen, the people are the animals, and the chefs are the monks, who are there to lead the realizations. Evoking the spirit of Buddhism and it’s meditation, the space heavily remains tranquility using honesty of materials. The light quality and use of raw material is engaging users through interaction with multiple senses. Strategy Sequential movements of the dining experience will be the focus of this project which consists of three steps; preparing, cooking, and sharing. Interaction between three sequences and connecting among the users and space is the way to achieve the following goal. Goal Enlightenment ; “enjoy the gift of being alive in growing, making, and eating food that deepens life” _Jeong Kwan

Objective Based on regional environment in Cincinnati, this project was to create an office space for a political campaign. The site used was the American Sign museum in Cincinnati, Ohio and the given space was a warehouse in the site. The focus of this project was to establish a grassroots advocacy environment which is people oriented and opened. The challenge was to develop the flexibility of a work place arrangement within a whimsical environment to create a friendly concept for the overall space.

Objectives The given task was to rearrange the existing configuration of the RX Bar office. Located in Chicago, Harken Interiors was in charge of the original office design and were requested to make some minimal changes as the office grew and needed more desks. I was in charge of creating the whole drawing set within a tight deadline. The main challenge was to edit all six floor plans with reflected ceiling plan incorporated into it. This was a great opportunity for me to learn how to be more technical in AutoCAD.

Objectives Vi at the Glen is an on-going senior living/hospitality project from before I started working with Harken Interiors. From editing floor plans, drawing detailed elevations, rendering elevations, creating tagged furniture plans, editing reflected ceiling plans, to participating in client meetings, visiting a site for measurements, and writing specifications, the majority of my time during at Harken Interiors was spent on this project.

Objective Christopher boot design is a Melbourne based lighting design company known for it’s geometry shapes design from nature reflected by Christopher’s Greek Heritage and it’s mythology. The project was to develop a lighting concet for Christopher Boot’s studio and the specific site chosen for me was the workshop facade. The approach was to follow the subtle and soft light concept from the designer using transluent materiality extended from the exterior of the studio to continue the core concept from the inside. Majority of people do not realize until they sit and take a time to think about a one subject. In this case, think about the idea of sharing economy. This idea has been in our life for a while and it has been occupied the huge part of our life before we even realized. If you have used a public transportation, living in an apartment, goes to a library you are living in the world of sharing mechanism. From small scale such as books and bikes to houses and cars, the millennials are seeking for the most cost effective way to survive the world. Sharing economy is most applicable for the people these days as it fulfills each other’s needs by sharing what they already own. Everyone has different needs but unfortunately, not everyone can own all they need in their lives. Like home away from home, the idea of hotel is the biggest part of the sharing economy and in terms of work, rest, and play.

The idea was developed aft the problems of the current ho facility within the hotel is the past personal experiences with meaning of the lobby needs t are mainly used as a resting are or even to work. Though the era is shifting quickly, it is not as easy for an architecture to follow it’s speed. The purpose of this project is to think about how can the hotel be advanced in the close future. It’s almost 2020 and hotels need to follow the trends of the continuously changing users to suit their perfect needs for their most memorable experiences. There are lots of different types of hotels but why can’t we find one with all of them combined? What about hotels that comes to us instead of us going to hotels meaning rather than the users looking for their perfect hotels meets their needs, hotels adjust toward the users. The hotels these days are usually private and tend to be isolated, promoting people to go outside more than staying in. However, this hotel is providing the story on the other way around, offering more experiences rather than just sleeping and resting.

Followed by the 5 key concepts individualism, minimalism, fle sustainability, hotels could imp the service that the travelers ha main idea of the suggested fu parasite hotel that could be a of an isolation like the norm on a personal experience and be seen as a total foreign or a this facilitation is forcing the n the locals which will encourag locals. By integrating more technical services, people could choose their types of traveling and the types of activities they are looking for within the hotel. Upon the arrival, the room and the experience will be purposely curated by the individual guests. This could be offering limited experiences according to their choice and the budgets. Each floors will have different purposes and will simply lead people into different experiences. The digital era is also allowing the hotels to arrange a transportation from the begin to an end of the experience for the purpose of a completion. Expecting the majority of the users of the hotels have different daily routines and an understanding of a time, the hotels will be operated 24/7 to support everyone’s requests. Moving forward with an idea of personalized experience in a so called a complex hotel this idea will allow the users to utilize the hotel more than just a hotel by gaining valuable memories and experiences that the hotel can offer.

Objective Borrowing a site from The Oculus Mall within World Trade Center in New York City, the goal was to experiment the spatial potentials from a desired culture.  Inspired by Japanese traditional symbols, I created a pattern to use as a device to build spatial organizations and crafting multifunctional systems. To convey meaningful messages of this culture, the concept of the project was to focus on flawless circulation based around the meaning of the symbols used.
