CAN MEN BE REACHED?

Let’s face it we all know that the ratio of male to female in churches is alarming, and it has given rise to many persons thinking and even saying that perhaps men are unreachable.

I remember analyzing this situation a couple years ago not from the perspective of what I was seeing but from the perspective of what God would want me to see, this began to open my eyes up to the reality of the situation and also the reality that God can give us the tools to see this ratio return to equilibrium.

I was in discussion with a friend of mine this past week about this very same situation, she expressed to me that she believed that some churches are not doing enough to reach men to which I firmly agreed.

To add to that not only is it my opinion that churches could be doing more to reach men but I also believe that the church has to do more to reach men.

Let's look firstly at how men can be reached, we first have to establish that all men were created equal by God and that the only separating factor of men in the world from the Christian man is Jesus, understanding that this is important to every man (saved and unsaved), all men want to be respected and treated equally as any other man despite his race, education, or socio-economic background.

We have to be unbiased in our wholistic life perspective as witnesses.

The next thing is to identify more common ground. All men laugh, cry (yes cry) watch sports (most of us), get sad, have dreams and have the responsibility to bear the weight of leading society.

We have to remember the commonalities between us and our unsaved brothers and from this knowledge comes conversational starting points and the building blocks for creating effective social evangelistic programs that can effectively ministers to the needs and aspirations of our brothers.

The truth is that unbelievers can spot ingenuine attempts at evangelism which can be based on misguided efforts birthed from church expansionism pursuit rather than a genuine desire to reach lives for Jesus, to really have an impact we have to know how to skillfully be involved and lead our communities forming a genuine connection with our brothers through things common such as regular community walks, sports ministry, personal development seminars and other community developmental initiatives.

We have to be seen and heard not only when it is during a crusade, but we should have a consistent push to reach our brothers on every football field and corner shop in our communities. The church has to demonstrate the light to the men of our nations by our words and actions, without Christ-like actions our words are similar to that of a politician.
