Introduction The universe abounds with mysteries which, when the time is ripe, seek to be revealed to our consciousness. With the advent of the Age of Aquarius, a period of all-encompassing change, some of these secrets began to be unveiled, inspiring innovative advances in methods for maintaining and improving the overall health of our various bodies. The use of stones and crystals belongs to this new generation of techniques, which act not only on the physical aspect of our beings, but also on more subtle, but equally or even more important, elements. Although the term lithotherapy emerged only in the 1960s, this “pseudoscience,” as it was defined by a scientific community that did not yet understand how it worked, has long sustained humans through the gentle and transforming energy of stones and crystals, enabling them to move one step closer to their destiny. For the last 20 years or so, new discoveries in lithotherapy have continued to surface thanks to the vital and dedicated work of a number of collaborators in this field. One of these discoveries is quartztherapy, a new approach to treatment founded on restoring our balance at all levels. This book focuses on the use of different types of quartz, invaluable companions in our journey on this planet, as therapeutic tools that offer us an alternative approach to treat and ‘heal’. However, I would like to point out that this ground-breaking therapy in no way rejects modern medical science; traditional medicine remains essential to our well-being. Nonetheless, this unique therapeutic approach can improve outcomes, provide guidance and forge a bridge between stakeholders across the healthcare sector. Although quartztherapy, as I like to call it, is not infallible, my experience has shown it to be extremely effective and often surprising. The change that occurs during a quartztherapy treatment is visible to the naked eye. I see it every time someone gets up from the treatment table and looks at me. They seem younger and free from 9
distressing symptoms. Nothing is more gratifying to me than the incredibly fresh glow that illuminates their skin and adds a sparkle to their eyes. Quartz has wrought this minor miracle, for which I am eternally grateful. This book thus reflects my deep admiration for the wondrous world of stones and crystals and my desire to share the messages they wish to impart. Often wiser than we are, crystals have much to teach us through the energy and frequency they emit, which are founded on evolution and transformation. To make quartztherapy easier to understand, I have divided this book into five parts. The chapters do not necessarily have to be read in the order in which they are presented. Readers can flip through their pages to find the information that meets their specific needs. Part I – Perceiving the etheric body This first section examines the development of our ability to see and feel the etheric body. A number of user-friendly methods help readers test their awareness and fine-tune their vision of the etheric body, the cradle of our various energies. This is an important step because this vision allows us to perceive the projection of the quartz crystal’s energy on the person being treated. Part II – Quartz... A mine of resources This second part introduces the various types of quartz and enhances readers’ understanding of their therapeutic and transformative potential. Well-illustrated, it constitutes an important guide for selecting crystals that can help us in the work we wish to accomplish on ourselves or on others.

Introduction
Part III – Quartzther apy demystified This third section, devoted to the actual practice of quartztherapy, explains the various methods that can be used to cleanse, repair and balance the etheric body surrounding the physical body. Part IV – The secret life of quartz Part IV features the devas, celestial beings allied with quartz, which are represented in the various photos taken by Simhananda. This section is intended to help readers understand that these devas definitely exist and that their presence can be revealed through the photographic lens of a seasoned observer. Part V – Sculpted quartz and its mysteries This last part shows that sculpted quartz is of significance because its energy has been transformed by human hands, enabling more accurate inner work. For example, a quartz crystal in the form of a meditating Buddha attunes us to our inner selves and promotes tranquility, meditation and the development of compassion towards others. I invite you to thoughtfully browse through the following pages to discover the amazing universe of quartztherapy. I will be happy to receive comments from readers who have tried out some of the proposed techniques and answer questions about this new therapeutic approach. My publisher, whose contact information is indicated at the end of this book, will be pleased to forward your comments to me. Happy reading and let the adventure begin!

Our kinship with quartz At my lectures, I’m often asked whether it’s better to use clear or colored quartz (such as amethyst or citrine) for energetic work on the body’s meridians. Experience has taught me that clear quartz is ideal. Ranging from translucent to milky white, its clarity enhances the accuracy of any adjustments I make thanks to the lack of any superfluous external influence, i.e. color. However, at the end of the treatment, I sometimes use quartz of a particular color, thereby creating a subtle link between the etheric body and the astral body from which the disorder might derive. We should never forget that our different bodies form a whole. Any subtle impact on one undeniably affects all the others. Therefore, when the source of the problem lies within the astral or causal body, I treat the foundation — the etheric body — to build a bridge of energy. I place several stones on specific spots on the body to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. When karma1 appears to be the source of the problem, it can sometimes be reduced or even dissolved if the patient’s soul permits. Therapists thus need to be attentive and act in harmony with the patient’s soul through their own soul. During treatments, I always try to communicate soul to soul with my patients to bypass the ego and the personality.
Karma refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect whereby an action that occurred in the past has unavoidable repercussions, either positive or negative, on our life. Karma can be expressed on the emotional or physical level, depending on the type of karma in question.

Sweeping
Through sweeping, the quartz can infuse the etheric body with its etheric energy. I nearly always use sweeping during a treatment. Not only does it increase the prana in the patient’s etheric body, but it also allows me to check for blockages and then remove them. This technique is more accurate than scraping because of the beam emitted by the sweeping quartz. Flashes of light can be observed when it encounters a blockage. I pass over the problem area a number of times until the flashes cease.
15
The point of the quartz determines the width of the beam it projects. The wider the point, the wider the beam and vice versa. However, stones with extremely sharp points should never be used because they act like a laser and cut rather than cleanse. I recommend using a quartz crystal with a broader point for sweeping to ensure a more widespread diffusion of energy and avoid the risk of injuring the etheric body. A beam of etheric light of slightly less than half an inch is ideal.
Sweeping technique Procedure 1. As with scraping, I sweep in vertical bands. Because a sweeper’s beam is narrower than a scraper’s, I divide the body into nine or more bands, depending on the beam of light projected. 2. I retain the central band, but add one or two extra bands on each side, not forgetting the arms, which I sometimes divide into two or three bands depending on their width.

3. The sweeping stroke should be fluid and continuous, except when an obstacle is encountered. I rarely pass over the same spot twice unless I feel a build-up of residue that needs cleansing. 4. To be effective, the beam of light should be perpendicular to the etheric body. The quartz should therefore be held firmly, but flexibly, with the pointed end free. Some quartz are shaped like a pistol, which I consider to be an asset for accurately transmitting energy. 5. Experience has taught me that sweeping should last from five to ten minutes. When a blockage is encountered the treatment may last just a few minutes more.
To be effective, sweeping strokes should be regular and steady for the well-being of the quartz, the therapist and the patient. Releasing the negative residue too quickly can unbalance the etheric body rather than help it. The reason for this is that rapidly removing a significant amount of polluted energy from the etheric body creates problems that need a certain amount of time to dissolve. The etheric body retains the memory of what has been eliminated and often automatically tries to replace it with something similar. This unconscious process frequently results in relapses that may seem implausible but are understandable to experienced therapists.

Sweeping
Even though a patient may feel fine, as if a weight has been lifted, this cleansing may also sometimes trigger discomfort, which causes the etheric body to replace what has been removed too quickly. In my experience, any change, even a positive one, requires a period of adjustment and the patient may sometimes feel “lost” when the cleansing has been successful. The use of selenite Although quartz remains the best tool for sweeping, selenite can be a useful option. I sometimes use a selenite “pistol” to transmit the energy to the etheric body more gently and slowly. Some cases, especially those involving children, require more delicate work. That’s when I use selenite, which not only works on a deep subtle level, but also helps restore a healthy balance within the etheric body.

A few years ago, Simhananda wrote an Invocation for lithotherapists working at the Medicine Buddha Mandala Institute. Before I start work each day, I recite this Invocation since it provides valuable support to both therapist and patient.

Invocation for lithotherapists
Blessed be the Divine which breathes through the Mineral Kingdom. May my being be one with the collective consciousness of the workers of the Light who work for the Hierarchy of the Great White Way and benefit in an evolutionary fashion all sentient beings and all natural kingdoms within the sphere of the influential energies and pranic-etheric currents of this blue planet — awhirl in purposeful vibratory connection with its co-sister planets in the varied constellation of Space. May the stone, (semi-precious stone patterns and rock configurations), benefit unselfishly my (our) client. May the gift of their Grace and Blessings be bestowed upon him, (or her). May their balm of merciful potency impact positively the physical body and etheric envelope of my patient’s Soul. May the Stone, (semi-precious stone patterns and rock configurations), bring solace, succor and comfort to his (her) emotional body, or astral counterpart. May they behoove salutarily the mind and strengthen propitiously the Spirit. May the stones (or crystals) soothe, calm and quieten; may they invigorate, tonify and edify. May they help, assist and profit; may they be salutary, wholesome and auspicious. May they be restorative in all ways; may they promote the needed best in all and contribute to the evolutionary welfare of man. May they, in their turn, magnetize a group of voluntary human aid dedicated to the spiritual upliftment of an already dignified and cooperative Devic World. All in all, may the stones (or crystals) and I serve as a humble vehicle in our catalyzing efficaciously the compassionate energies of the Mineral Kingdom for the betterment of the Living, Loving Whole which is our World, the Creation.
