MAIN TOWER
Main Tower is named a er the nearby Main river. It is a 56-storey and 200 metres tall, soaring skyscraper located in the Innenstadt district of Frankfurt, Germany. It. e building extends further by 40 metres in height and is an impressive 240 metres tall when its antenna spire is included. e tower has ve underground oors and two public viewing platforms. It is the only skyscraper in Frankfurt with a public viewing observatory and is not only the fourth tallest building in the city but also the fourth, tied with Tower 185. e foyer of the building has two art pieces accessible to the public namely the video installation by Bill Viola called ‘ e World of Appearances’ and the wall mosaic by Stephan Huber called Frankfurter Treppe / XX. Jahrhundert which translates as Frankfurt’s Steps / 20th century in English. e building appears to be two towers that are connected to each other. e smaller of the two is of a cuboid shape which was a design common to 1970s architecture and the second and taller tower is circular with a complete blue glass exterior featuring the transmission tower on top.
