INTRODUCTION TO PAN AFRICANISM

Our mission is to create an inspirational space for intellectual conversation and study, both digital and physical.

COURSE OVERVIEW The Introduction to Pan Africanism – Histories, Philosophies & the Future of African Liberation is a comprehensive study programme that includes lectures, masterclasses and assignments across the entire breadth of Pan Africanism as an ideology. It critically analyses the revolutionary ideas of past and present Pan Africanists, Pan African movements and institutions in order for students to contextualise their own ideologies in view of current socio-political structures. Not only will the programme cover history from 17/18th century slave rebellions in the Caribbean, popular figures and organisations like Edward Blyden, Marcus Garvey, WEB Du Bois, Malcolm X, Kwame Nkrumah and the OAU; but also, philosophies and perspectives of Pan Africanists often forgotten like George Padmore, Amilcar Cabral, Nnamdi Nzikwe and Sekou Touré.
