DISCOURSE ON AFRICAN LEADERSHIP
INVESTIGATING HISTORIC MODELS OF NATION BUILDING IN AFRICA
COURSE OVERVIEW Our Discourse on African Leadership programme is a seven-part lecture series that examines the nature and truth of post independent nation building in Africa. It explores the nuanced and complex challenges that post-colonial leaders faced in developing peace and prosperity for their country; including analysis on their political and macroeconomic performance. The series theorises various leadership philosophes and models; plus the moral and development ideologies of some of the most notorious political actors of our time. It offers an expert view on the national policies, actions or inactions, and practices that shaped both disastrous and success outcomes for its citizens and Africa as a whole. The lectures are designed to encourage deeper learning on the transformation tools for Africa and how we (as Diasporans) can support Africa’s development. The content empowers those who are invested in becoming a new generation of global African leaders or taking up leadership roles in their prospective fields of work and communities. In connecting the histories, data and relevant literature from African leadership studies the series also aims to promote a stronger African centred leadership culture in Britain.
