Panaga School Yearbook 2022-2023

Page 1

Dear Panaga School Community,

Our school vision, Together Improving Learning truly encapsulates the collaborative spirit that has shaped our vibrant learning environment. Every member of our school’s community has joined together with dedication and commitment that has enriched the fabric of our school.

Our students are the reason that we exist. Fundamental to their learning journey are the personal qualities of Resilience, Adaptability, Respect, Communication, Cooperation, Integrity, Reflection and Enquiry. Personal qualities provide foundations for future learning and living. International Mindedness goes beyond personal qualities, teaching our students to appreciate sameness and difference across people and cultural groups. Teaching and learning at Panaga School draws from the unique backdrop of Borneo's fauna and flora and our diverse community to foster an appreciation and respect for the world and its people. We are proud of the caring and accepting learning environment that our school community delivers for all.

I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated staff who stimulate our students' intellectual curiosity and cultivated a love for learning. Our staff are supported by an engaged and caring parent community. Thank you to our parents who offer a significant amount of time and invest in important school to home connections.

To our students, you have amazed us with your enthusiasm, achievements, and personal growth. Embrace the memories you have made and the friendships that you have forged during your time at Panaga School. Carry forward the personal qualities that you have developed here, as you navigate the ever-changing world. Stay true to yourself always and tune in to your moral compass that will help you enact your personal qualities to live a life with purpose, pride and strength to bounce back from adversity.

After nine years, I join the families and staff who will bid farewell to our very special community at the end of this school year. Panaga School has always been an ever-changing landscape of people and process, as our community does its best to keep up with the schooling needs of Brunei Shell Joint Ventures. We are not simply a school, but a family united by a common purpose, adaptable and ready to welcome and inform change that is for the benefit of all, .

May your 2022-2023 Panaga School Yearbook provide you with the opportunity to reflect on and relish your connection to this great learning community.

As my time as the Principal of Panaga School comes to a close, I leave with so much gratitude. To all staff, parents and community members,Iamforevergratefulforyourtireless efforts and commitment, as we have worked together to create a stimulating environment where all children can feel safe, accepted and excited about learning. I am proud to have served Brunei Shell Petroleum and Shell throughout these past 9 years. Working alongside such a diverse and skilled workforce has been an honour and privilege. The highs, lows and every moment in between has provided cherished memories and lessons learning - all valued and appreciated. Panaga School and Brunei Darussalam will forever be a huge part of our lives. Tobias, Marley, PK and I wish each and everyone of you the very best. Jumpalagifornow.

Panaga School and community I thank you for a wonderful 6 years. Panaga is such a special place and my family and I will treasure the friendships and memories that we have made here. All three of my children were fortunate to be part of Panaga School and to the teachers that nurtured and cared for them, Shane and I appreciate all you did. Panaga School develops personal qualities in children that will support them as they continue their journey through life and I am so grateful that my own children had this wonderful opportunity. I have enjoyed working with amazing colleagues, children and parents and together we have had an incredible journey. Thank you for the support and kindness you have all shown throughout my time here, I will be forever grateful. To all children, parents and staffselamattinggaldan semogaberjaya!

As I prepare for my final departure from Brunei, I wish to express my thanks for everybody’s support and collaboration since my arrival in 2020. The achievements and growth we have witnessed in our Melilas community make me proud. Our students have excelled academically, socially, and emotionally, and this would not have been possible without your dedication. Parentteacher relationships and engaging discussions have made a significant impact on our students' lives. I am grateful for the guidance and mentorship that all teachers have provided, shaping our students into responsible global citizens. Thank you once again for your unwavering commitment and belief in our Melilas community. It has been an honour to lead this area of our great school. Best wishesto all.

and wonderful children and families. Thank you. Teaching internationally has taught me the world's a small place and paths often cross when least expected so it's not necessarily goodbye but jumpa lagi!

My 2 years in Panaga has been enjoyable and a great learning experience. It’s been a pleasure to teach the wonderful students, meet the community and be a part of a great school. Hilde and I leave with a new addition, Isak who’ll be an ever present reminder of our time in

s a school, but it feels like so much more!

Writing this farewell note I wondered why I feel the way I do about Panaga School… it’s partly because my kids have spent 6 wonderful years being nurtured here but its more, a whole lot more. It’s the sense of community, the friendliness, the relaxed and caring atmosphere and the vibrant clash of diverse cultures. I will miss the friends I have made and the relationships that have been strengthened by work and struggle. And, although I am excited about our move - Panaga School and all the people that make it what it is, I will miss you all so much!
