We wish to extend the deepest gratitude to you all for your partnership in learning since school's remote return. Continued respectful conversations are helping us all together improving (remote) learning. This week's well attended remote parent information sessions have presented some fantastic questions and provided a lot of comments, praising our outstanding teachers for their dedication and hard work. It was a pleasure to have Robin Belles (Shell School Consultant) and Kristy McGrath (PTA and School Advisory Board) join our whole school parent information session. We are grateful to have strong partnerships with our Parent and Teacher Association, Shell Global School Services and School Advisory Board. For the information of new families, Panaga School Advisory Board consists of: Hj Md Azmi Hj Md Hanifah (Chair and BSP-CD), Kristy McGrath (Parent Representative - pictured), Detlef Wodtke (IBAS Representative BSP-DVX/9 - pictured), Mazlina Maawiah (BSP-IFM), Henk van Hout (Head of Education Services SI-HRR/P) and Cindy Bin Tahal (Principal IFM/4).

Dhruv enjoying Home Learning Dhruv is new to Panaga School and was so looking forward to go to school and make new friends, meet his teachers, learn and play. But the Pandemic has forced us all to stay indoors. However, as they say, kids adapt to any circumstances so well, Dhruv started enjoying his online learning activities in P6K right from day one and his energy levels are awesome, even in the 7th week. He does all his activities, be it Literacy, Maths, DE, Art or French, with complete diligence and enthusiasm and we feel so proud about him to adjust to the new learning methods, including navigating Google Classroom and using all the new apps and technology like a pro! The day starts with an energetic check in with Miss Katrina and all classmates, followed by making a "to do list" for himself. The kids sure are learning to get more organised. He did a nice poster for the IPC topic "Power of YET" showcasing a positive attitude and growth mindset. Dhruv enjoys doing art and has done a nice drawing of the Hornbill for one of his "Fun Friday Challenge". I am so glad that the teachers and all school staff have made home learning equally fun and enjoyable for our kids. – Preeti

Caroline’s 100km bike ride Hi my name is Caroline Scheck and I’m a student in M1P. Me and my family will be embarking on a 100 km bike ride on the 24th of October (or if the weather won’t play along on the 31st October). We are doing this to raise at least 100 dollars for CAS (Care Actions for Strays). To me, animals are very important. Cats and Dogs are the most common animals to be set on the streets. Some may get taken in, but others will have to fight for survival. CAS takes in the animals and give them food, water and a home. So, if you want to help this worthy cause you can come to E7/17, ring the doorbell and leave a donation at the doorstep, in order to stay socially distanced. If you want to ask questions call or text +673 722 7492. 100% of the donations will be sent to CAS. If you don’t want to come to the house, you can transfer the money to our bank account:
Standard Chartered Account number: 01 012 421 973 00 BIC Swift code: SCBLBNBBXXX. - Michael Scheck

Special Edition MIDDLE YEARS 2 HISTORY CREATIVE CHALLENGE LT: Creatively communicate a range of factual information about the middle ages plague — The Black Death SC: K-know a range of facts about the disease including it’s origins, what people thought caused it, symptoms and middle age cures S-research and summarise key facts about the black death S-creatively present key information in a way that appeals to a range of audiences. U-showing understanding by being able to share key information about the black death in your own words.
This Term M2 have been exploring Medicine Through Time. We have moved from ancient times into the middle ages and reached a familiar topic for many- the Black Death. So we took this opportunity to research (review current knowledge and enhance it using several sources) and record (creatively present key factual information in our own words). The students were given key questions to help guide their work e.g. What is a plague and what was the Black Death? How did you catch it? What were the symptoms? How did people try to cure it? After discussion of possible ways to communicate their knowledge, students were then given total creative control to decide how they presented information. Please take a look through the screen shots of the wide range of presentations: aged diary, PowerPoint, interview, comic strip, rap poem, quiz, poster… to name but a few. I look forward to sharing more of their work as our journey through medicine continues. - Miss Mandy

Special Edition Markus (M1M) found out what compounds/ ingredients are in our shampoo and how they helped clean our hair.
The M1s have been learning about Elements, compounds and mixtures for their first topic in science. For the past 2 weeks, they completed a self study research task on the compound found in some everyday household products. They found out how the compounds helped us in our life and why there are so many in there! M1s did an excellent job. They were able to communicate their learning creatively, showing much resilience working in a new and unfamiliar way. We were impressed by so many of them!
Grace (M1M) found out some fascinating compounds in shampoos and their functions in cleaning our hair.
-Melilas Science Team-
