I would like to take this opportunity to extend thanks to every member of our school community for enacting our vision of Together, Improving Learning. The depth of gratitude that I have for everybody involved in Panaga School’s continued success is tremendous. Everybody has coped with varying difficulties throughout all of Term 1. Nevertheless, we continue. We continue to deliver school operations and social connections in support of all members of our school community, with students and their learning central to all that we do. Our teachers require significant thanks for their commitment and expertise to transition to remote learning and sustain the demands of this teaching forum for all of Term 1. Learning Support Assistance have contributed to outstanding teaching and learning environments. To our teachers and LSAs, I say thank you. Our administration team and cleaners are school front liners. This team is ensuring the school environment and operations are sustained despite challenging circumstances. To our parents, thank you, you are acknowledged for the significant demands that remote learning requires of you. We have our school networks, Shell Global School Services, Brunei Shell Joint Ventures and our colleagues at Integrated Facilities Management to also acknowledge and thank for our external supports. To my fellow senior leaders, thank you for your hard work and pastoral care for all, you are so appreciated. Lastly and most importantly, the reason that we all do what we do, to our students. Congratulations for your efforts with remote learning, well done for coping and adapting to this ongoing, unprecedented situation. At the time of publication, we await further guidance from Ministry departments about school’s reopening. I appreciate how difficult this wait is and assure our school community that once updates are available, we will communicate accordingly. This week we heard from Professor Michael Bernard, who encouraged Panaga School Community in his talk, “Flourishing in Difficult Situations”. He offered a wonderful message about the possibilities to flourish and live life regardless of the circumstances. It was fitting to have this message from a leading psychologist and somebody who has lived through one of the harshest lockdowns in the world. A recording of this talk has been distributed to parents. Wishing everybody celebrating a very Merry Christmas with a happy New Year

Vethista’s Vegetarian Venture

Vethista was extremely involved in her unit "Owning and managing a restaurant”, from the different stages of being an entrepreneur to the care and attention she offered to her guests by cooking absolutely wonderful vegetarian cuisine from preparation to presentation.

She designed her restaurant in such an attractive way! Her teacher was very impressed with the way she displayed her restaurant and her enthusiasm for this unit. Thanks to Miss Charlotte for the encouragement. Vethista's younger sister kept asking if the food was from Vegelicious! Ranjana Pant Dass

Special Edition The Earth Our Home ~ P2 Virtual Exit Point A global experience

They used their skills to create artwork.

The children of P2 wowed us with their knowledge of the habitat of an animal, plant or location, in their home countries.

We are very proud of all children’s presentations.

Confidence was displayed as they presented to their peers and teachers.

Information shared explained their understanding of habitats and differences between their host and home country.

Les crêpes - French pancakes

For the last two lessons, students in P6 and P7 have been cooking French recipes Crêpes and French toast. These two recipes were chosen as most people would have these ingredients in the house and they are not too difficult to make. Of course, the students cooked under adult supervision. The students were very excited to learn they were allowed to cook in a French lesson. The idea is for them to make these lovely items for their family during the holidays as treats. As you can see from the pictures, they thoroughly enjoyed making the pancakes. It was a nice change from learning French. In language classes, learning about the culture of a country is just as important as learning the language. We definitely have ‘master chefs’ in the making. Hopefully they get to make many for their family during the holidays. The recipes for both are on pages 18 and 19 in case you want to try them out yourself. Bon appetit!
