Nursery Sports Day
Not even the hot sun can deny how much we all had a blast! We deserve a pat on the back as we were able to finish up all the challenges, with a lot of resilience.
Who makes a musical about rubbish?! Literally!!! Well…we do! We have worked hard this term to bring the trash right to your doorstep. We hope that this teaches everyone to recycle, dispose of our trash properly and keep Panaga Village clean and tidy. It was not easy… in between school work, swimming and dealing with Ms. Trunchbull, it’s safe to say we are proud of ourselves.
P3 ACTORS
Never has team-work, resilience, discipline and reflection been put to the test. We hope you enjoyed it too!

Triple Threat! That is what we are. We had to sing, dance and act at the same time. And did we get paid? Nooooo…… that is if we don’t count the great times we spent learning to cooperate, communicate, listen to cues, and move as one… not to mention the lyrics of 8 songs!!!

P2: The Earth: Our Home
One of our learning goals in IPC was to be able to contribute towards making a positive change. In May, P2 hosted a bake sale to raise money to adopt orangutans that are based in the Sepilok Orangutan rehabilitation centre in Borneo.

On Sunday 2nd July the Belait football tournament U9 concluded. It was organized by the FootballAssociation of Brunei Darussalam (FABD). Representatives of the FABD, like the technical director involved in the Brunei National team, joined the tournament as well. This event is not just another “fun-event” by the local clubs, it is set-up as a nation-wide event to scout local talent. The Belait tournament was held over 2 days and the winning teams qualified for the finals in Bandar against the winners of the otherdistricts.
Two Panaga teams were involved that included many of our students from Panaga School. The boys did really well: FirstandFourthplace!Thismeansbothteamsqualifiedfor the championship in Bandar, which will be played later this year. Geography Learning about clouds. We were very privileged to have a guest meteorologist visit us and explain to us all about the clouds that we saw in the sky. This was also a wonderful opportunity for us to ask all our weather related questions.
To be successful in this learning we needed to:
● Identify geographical patterns and use our knowledge and understanding to explain them.
● Use geographical vocabulary to describe weather.
● Know the names of the different types of clouds.
● Know the different types of weather associated with the different clouds.
● beginning to develop an understanding of how the different types of clouds types of clouds that I see in the sky can help me predict the weather.

Over the last month the Language Leaders have helped Teraja students from all year groups with their French spelling. Last week (ending 23rd June), the Language Leaders choose the 6 best students of each year group that would participate in the Spelling Bee v. JIS.
On the 26th June the actual spelling bee took place in the drama hall. This was the first time that the P4 participated in the French spelling bee.
The competition consisted of 3 rounds. In round 1, the judge said a word in English, then French and the students had to write down the word. The round was judges by the M1 Language Leaders.
TERAJA Issue 138 | 7th July 2023
In round 2, the participants had to spell the word verbally. The word this time was only said in French. Each participant had two spell two words. After this round, the judges chose the best of each year group for the final round. It was a very difficult decision as we had many students who scored 100% in the first two rounds.
TERAJA Issue 138 | 7th July 2023
In the final round, the judge would say the word in English. The finalists had to say the word in French before spelling the word.
I would like to say thank you to Louise (P5C) for helping out, as well as Michelle Brown who helped with the judging.
The finalists were amazing and it was very close. The runner-ups only made one mistake. In Year 6, 5, 3, Panaga won, in Year 4 both schools won. Well done to all participants who joined the competition. In my eye, you are all winners. Also well done to all the children in Panaga who did not make it to the final 6.
A massive shout out to all the Language Leaders who practiced with the students. Without your help, we would not have WON.

On Thursday 22nd June, Smurfs left their home country Belgium and crossed the border into France.
They had already invaded Paris and were slowly conquering the rest of France.
Melilas students were joined by JIS students from Year 8, Their task was to escape France in an allotted time before getting SMURFED.
In order to escape France, they had to find the 6 number code and the town they could escape from. In groups of 4 or 5, they had to travel to 6 cities in France. In each city they had to crack a code. Every time they solved a puzzle, they were given a key and their next destination. The key provided the students with a letter and a number. Six keys had to be collected in total.
This ‘Escape game’ was the perfect way to revise verb conjugations, adjectival rules and vocabulary. The puzzles were quite challenging and every group did play a joker card that allowed them to skip a city.
The progress of the groups was monitored by Marcela and Murjanat. They were in charge of checking the answers and collecting the keys.

A MAGICAL VISIT TO MERANGKING SCHOOL
On Saturday 24th June, 15 of the M2 Language Leaders visited Sekolah Merangking. We were invited by the school and the students were given their hardest challenge of the year - to teach English as a foreign language. Explaining grammatical rules of English, the language they speak everyday, is challenging. As the students pointed out, we can speak the language and know how to put it together. It is difficult to explain why we use different tenses when we speak in English. Merangking School would like to implement the Language Leaders Programme into their school. Our students were showing the students of Year 5 and 6 and their teachers what they do in the programme. The principal and 3 teachers from Sayyidina Ali Secondary School in KB also came for the day to observe our students in action. They too are considering implementing the programme into their school. Needless to say, our students were under the spotlight.
Read more here:
The day started off with an ice-breaker ‘Find some who…? - created by Aadarshini. The Bruneian students had to ask our students questions in order to complete the worksheet. For example - Do you have a pet and two younger brothers?
