Dear Parents,
Although it has been a challenging last few days of term with the haze and water issues, it should not detract from the wonderful learning experiences that your children have met 'head on' over the past few months. It was wonderful to be able to reflect on and celebrate the children's learning and achievements, both inside and outside of the classroom, during today's assemblies. Your children continue to challenge themselves, with the aid of our incredible teachers and LSAs, demonstrating their learning in so many creative ways. The reports and PTAs clearly show how much effort and progress they are making, with clear steps for further improvement. It is also clear that we have such supportive parents, ensuring the three-way partnership that is so important for children to achieve and enjoy their learning is thriving in our community. Please help us further strengthen this partnership by completing the parent survey on page 19.
Enjoy the reflection of learning in this edition and the hugely successful International Women's Day event. Please also be aware of, and join us for the PTAAGM on the 17th April and the upcoming new PTAinitiative 'Student'sTableTop Sale' on the 27thApril. We are also looking for parents to showcase their home country in the upcoming International Day on the 17th May. Details of these fabulous events and how you can contribute to our wonderful community can be found in the following pages.
Have a lovely term break with family and friends and please stay safe. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 15th April (unless this day is deemed to be a holiday - please check your email and Parent Rep Whatsapp Group for confirmation on the 9thApril).
As Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaches, we wish all of our Muslim friends and families Selamat Hari Raya. Have a safe celebration.
Best Wishes, Brian, SLT and all of our staff

The day was marked by a remarkable collaboration between staffandstudents, whoorchestrated a series of events inviting everyone toreflectontheremarkablewomen intheirlives, bothpresentandpast.
From the inspiring international women within their own families to the influential figures in history,
International Women’s Day
The school was awash with the colors of pink and purple, symbolizing solidarity and honor for the occasion. Feedback from participants underscored the profound impact of the event, leaving everyone impressed and grateful for the opportunity to engage in such an important celebration.
International Women's Day not only celebrated the achievements of women, but also served as a reminder of the ongoing journey towards gender equality and the need for inclusivity in all aspects of society. As the echoes of the event reverberate throughout the community, it serves as a beacon of inspiration for future endeavors in promoting diversity and empowerment.

Mendaram “Imagine That” Exit Point!
What a super way to end this creative IEYC unit. The children have learnt about the styles of ten different artists, learning many new skills along the way. At the exit point, they reflected on their learning by proudly showing their parents their masterpieces. After that, they shared their knowledge, skills and understanding by creating with their parents.
P1 Turtles Safety Walk
P1 Turtles went on a safety walk around panaga. We looked for signs.
Can you see any signs that are warnings?
P2 Exit point ‘Let’s Celebrate’
P2 children planned their own parties for our exit point. We made tasty treats, played games and we were creative with decorations.
P3 have been using Scratch Junior to tell knock knock jokes. They have been using the ‘send message’code to make sure their jokes are timed well and are in the correct order.
P4 Treasure Exit Point with P3
P4 were teachers, explaining who Howard Carter was, and what he discovered.
P4 thoroughly enjoyed sharing their learning from the Treasure unit with the P3 students.
P3 also learned about the definition of artefacts and replicas.
P4 showed the artefacts they created and explained how they were made.
In IPC P5 have been learning about how people in earthquake prone areas stay safe. We researched the types of buildings which are constructed and looked at the design features that allow the buildings to be flexible during an earthquake.
With our engineer hats on, we designed our own buildings gaist a set of design criteria.
We investigated the use of triangles to reinforce shapes and looked at the success of different materials.
Great cooperation, communication and application of skills and knowledge. P5 have many future architects and engineers in the making.
Finally we tested our buildings on a 'shake table' where they felt the tremors of an earthquake for 30 seconds!
Unbelievably all our buildings survived the test which shows what brilliant STEM understanding our children have!
The children had created some amazing fairground rides and games as part of their IPC home learning task. Issue 150 | 27th March 2024
P6 Exit Point Fairgrounds
Thank you to all of the parents who came to the P6 Exit Point on Tuesday morning.

The children were fantastic guides, showing the parents around the 5 different forces stations on the playground. These showed the forces that the children had been learning about in class.

Books are a great reflection of a culture. Through stories told you can learn about the history of a nation, about how people behave and relate to each other, about their sense of humour, how they spend their free time and about their choice of food.
The Grand Finale took place on Sunday 10th March with a Fox Hunt where we had to find the ‘real’ Book Characters. Can you spot Tintin, Smurfette, Miffy or one of the others?
Do you know who they are?

Working with the local community
The principal, Mrs Alita, with the girls
On Saturday, 2nd March, two of our Middle Years students, Hana and Maya, arrived at school bright, early and full of enthusiasm, ready for their visit to Merangking School. The girls were excited to meet up with students from the local school to plan and prepare a lesson, teaching animal names in Malay to Year 3 students.
After an hour's drive, we arrived at the school, which was described by Maya and Hana as being, ‘In the middle of nowhere!’ We arrived at the school via a small walkway, with steps leading down to the dining area; the classrooms are away to the left. Classrooms are small and had anywhere from 4-6 students per class when we visited.
Ameera and Bella joined the planning meeting, where the Panaga students shared their ideas and outlined the initial lesson plan. Through cooperation and collaboration, changes were made to the plans and the students showed adaptability, making changes to their lessons based on the input of the local students.
After the main planning session, there was a short break for a snack and a drink. Our students and staff were treated to typical Bruneian hospitality and tried a wonderful layer cake.
During this time, the students got to know each other better and Miss Steph and Miss Sonia got to meet more of the students from the school. The whole school, all 34 students, sat together to have their snacks in the dining area.
Brains fed and watered; it was time to get back into the classroom and work through the lesson plan so far, ready to teach the teachers. Miss Steph and Miss Sonia met with the headteacher, Miss Alita and class teacher, Mr. Jefferey, to finalise the details of next week’s visit and to discuss opportunities for further collaboration between Panaga and Meranking School.
Then, it was time for the students to put their plans into practice with the teachers as students. Not an easy job! The students ran through their introductions with confidence and began introducing the names of animals, focussing on the pronunciation as well as encouraging the teachers to memorise the new vocabulary. This helped the students to assess the time of the activities they had planned and helped them to develop their teaching skills as well as their confidence in working together as a team.
All too soon, it was time to return to Panaga. The students bid their farewells and thanked Miss Alita and Mr Jeffrey for their time. Even though Hana and Maya did not want to leave!!
