Updates from the Principal’s Desk Playgrounds Hand Over This week, 2 gorgeous playgrounds have been handed over to the Teraja site, with thanks to BSP’s IFM Department. Risk assessments have been conducted with students throughout their PE sessions to become familiar with these new play structures. We expect these structures will have high traffic when we return in Term 3, so initially, there will be a year group allocated playtime each session to ensure we avoid overcrowding. Acknowledgement and thanks to BSP’s IFM Department who have led the realisation of these sort-after playgrounds. International Education Conference Representation Congratulations to Miss Shelagh and Miss Rachel, who were commended for their efforts in celebrating their and their teams’ work at last week’s Fieldwork International Curriculum Conference in Singapore.

Thank you to all who have been involved in Poetry Week and congratulations to our students, who have demonstrated enthusiastic engagement in the artistic and imaginative literacy wonder that is poetry. I shall sign off in this final Panaga School Weekly for Term 2 with a poem that Miss Angie delivered to us. It is a great reminder that where our attention goes, our energy flows.
Have a read of each sentence from top to bottom, then reread this poem one sentence at a time from the bottom to damianbrady@panagaschool.com the top. How is your mindset and attitude towards life?

Holidays are here again, a time when both teachers and students look forward to a bit of R and R and try to forget about school work. But there is always a little anxiety that some of the skills we practise daily with the children might easily be forgotten and we’re sure parents are worried about the challenge of keeping their children physically busy and mentally active. So why not gain a few minutes of peace every day whilst also ensuring that your children retain essential maths skills by encouraging them to continue to visit DoodleMaths throughout the holidays? Just a few minutes every day will keep them engaged and on track with their learning.
DoodleTables I would like to bring your attention to DoodleTables. This is also available as part of our school subscription. Now that your children are familiar with DoodleMaths, you may want to get them started on DoodleTables. The following challenge beginning after the holidays may serve as the perfect opportunity for you to introduce DoodleTables to them. Read on to find out more about this challenge and also how to access DoodleTables.
DoodleTables Access To download DoodleTables, follow this link: www.doodlemaths.com/available-apps. Children’s login details are the same as DoodleMaths.
DoodleTables Challenge Beginning on Monday 8th April, DoodleMaths will be running a challenge in DoodleTables where children have the opportunity to earn a limited edition DoodleTables 2019 pin badge and certificate! How to take part? Children need to use DoodleTables (version 3.0.4) each day for 14 consecutive days, starting on Monday 8th April until Sunday 21st April 2019. Each day, a new Easter egg will appear in DoodleTables within the Learn questions. When an egg is found, children simply need to smash it open to reveal a letter which belongs to the secret phrase. On the home screen of the app, children will find another egg - the letters will automatically be added in - to help them work out the secret phrase. (We will post this information on the home page of the Pupil Portal as a reminder for Monday 8th April .) Should your child wish to participate, you can claim their reward by following the steps below: Visit www.doodlemaths.com/doodlemathschallenge to check the entry requirements and fill in the online form. DoodleMaths will verify the entry and, if valid, send all rewards here to school for us to award all children that completed the challenge. Please make sure when claiming your child’s reward, you enter our school address: Panaga School, KB3534. Click here for more information and to enter the DoodleTables Challenge.
Panaga School Achievements Panaga School has been experiencing a good level of success with DoodleMaths, you may have read Mr Steven’s article in PSW17 regarding his class’s recent success in a previous competition. We have also just be commended for the number of students that engage with the app over the course of a week: 147 from P2-P6, which is a generous number in comparison to other schools. These rewards come from a joint partnership between the students, teachers and parents; so thank you for continuing to encourage and support your children with their maths learning at home. P4 Shaping Up Exit Point The children in P4 celebrated the end of their Shaping Up unit by setting up some amazing learning activities to share with their parents. All of the classes mixed up in groups and were given one area of the unit to present. They showed great resilience and cooperation to set up a diverse range of activities and learning experiences for their parents. All of the children were able to communicate their learning clearly to their parents. A great time was had by all. By the P4 Team

P4 children had an exciting Entry Point to their new IPC unit, Footprints From the Past. It started with their performance of The Dinosaur Musical and finished with several fun and thought-provoking activities in the classroom.
P4 Begin a New Unit All About Dinosaurs!
Children explored dinosaurs through building Jurassic Park, creating masks and producing fossils from salt dough. I am excited to learn more facts about the dinosaurs because I don’t really know how big they were. And I’m excited to learn about new dinosaurs I might not know. PK, P4SP
Children were paleontologists and searched for dinosaur bones in the sand pit. Then, they had to work out how they fit together.
We dug in the sandpit to find dinosaur bones. I found the skull. I am excited about learning how dinosaurs lived. Lyanis, P4J
I am excited about learning how many different types of dinosaurs there were. Millie, P4SJ

Panaga School, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Bilingual Emergency Phone Numbers Graphic Design Magnet Competition Schools across the nation are invited to take part in the country’s first-ever Bilingual Emergency Phone Numbers Graphic Design Magnet Competition, organised by Panaga School’s Digital Education Specialist Teachers, Damian Brady and Neil Lynch; funded by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP). Details below:
The winner will have the unique opportunity of being awarded as the sole designer of what will be a thousand bilingual magnets produced and distributed to Bruneian schools, government departments and businesses, thanks again to BSP funding. It is scary how few people know all four of Brunei’s Emergency Services’ phone numbers. What an opportunity for children and their parents and teachers to not only learn all four emergency phone numbers, but to know them in both languages from designing a poster. The competition encourages the following important message to students: “By entering…you could help save a life.” We implore all Panaga School students to enter. Entries close Friday 12th April. The winner will be announced and magnets will be ready for distribution in July. School students of all ages are invited to send their entries to: emergencymagnetcompetition@panagaschool.net.
