Communication Parent Representative phone messaging and this publication, Panaga School Weekly (PSW), have been reported as preferred communication forums. Parent feedback is so appreciated to assist with school improvements. It is acknowledged that communication needs to be streamlined, timely and avoid late changes where possible. At the beginning of each half term, in addition to the Upcoming Events pages in each week’s PSW and the School Calendar on the school website, a live overview of events page is also available for parents.

School transitions Teachers are currently considering relevant year group/school site transition plans for students in the lead up to next academic year. Early Years and P3 students engage in student transition programmes to prepare them for their new learning environments. A range of transition and information meetings for parents are also scheduled for Early Years and Middle Years students. These dates are available on the School Calendar. If you have any questions about school transitions, please contact your child’s class teacher, the Year Group Leader of the year group your child will transition to, or a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Every child’s journey is different and we are here to support your child and family. Scottish Highland Games - Saturday 15th June

All children who participate will be awarded a medal. The event will run right throughout the day. Regards, Cindy

Updates from the Head Teacher’s Desk Dear Parents, On returning from the recent Hari Raya celebrations, many of our children were met with an unusual sight in their classrooms and play areas. The dinosaurs had come back from extinction and were busy leaving footprints and eggs all over the school. The distant sound of thunder and occasional roars of a dinosaur created a wonderful buzz amongst the children. Having spent time talking to a number of children across the week, it is apparent that dinosaurs are very much alive in school. Please do take the time to share with your children their enjoyment and learning over the coming weeks.
Thank you to all parents who were able to attend our International Day Meeting this week. There are a lot of plans in place to make this a really exciting event for all of the children. With this in mind, please do note that it is not too late for more countries to be represented on the day. We currently have 23 countries preparing for International Day (Friday 28th June). If you are interested in sharing the wonders of your country with the children, please contact me.
As you are all aware, as part of the ASA programme this term, pupils are also involved in the Adopt-a-Beach initiative and each week children are spending time on the sands of Panaga helping clean up the environment for all. This week, the Automata and Construction clubs were able to partake in the process and it was interesting to hear the children’s views and concerns over the rubbish that they were able to find. It is difficult to explain to children why someone would choose to leave behind their empty cans or plastic bags. The more we can develop an understanding of the need to protect our surroundings and develop this mindset within the children, the more we will continue to impact the future. Kind regards, Mark

What a marvellous start to Early Years’ new IEYC unit:
The children from Pre-Nursery to Primary One were excited by the Jurassic Worlds they encountered and the strange sounds coming out of the jungle on Tuesday morning. Finding a mystery letter with a map, footprints and clues helped the children find and rescue dinosaur eggs. In P1, the children found ice eggs, met a giant inflatable dinosaur, a cuddly dinosaur and had to cooperate and communicate to help solve dinosaur puzzles. During visits to Pre-Nursery, the Land of Giant Footprints, the children had to use their skills of number and estimating to try and find out how many human footprints would fit inside a dinosaur footprint.
In Nursery’s Jurassic World, the children became paleontologists, finding the skeletons of a T-Rex, Brachiosaurus and a Triceratops. They had lots of fun learning how to clean the bones with brushes and water. What an exciting morning and that was only just the beginning of our dinosaur journey! By the Early Years Team
