Updates from the Principal’s Desk Dear Panaga School Community, Last week, Parent Representatives were invited to a meeting where information was presented and discussed in relation to school strategic planning and operations. Topics included: School Board representation, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) focuses, International Primary Curriculum (IPC) focuses, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and School Reporting. School Board representation Also at last week’s Parent Representative meeting, Sonja Perry introduced herself to attendees as the PTA-elected School Board Parent Representative. Congratulations, Sonja! Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Updates were provided to Parent Representatives about events that the PTA are initiating. These are all listed on the Panaga School Calendar. This term, (hardcopy) Panaga School PTA Calendars will be produced once again, including selected photographs taken in the local area. These will be ready in time for the December holidays, so consider any gift requirements accommodated through this high quality product. The PTA will also offer a Movie Night for students. Students may bring their bean bags or pillows for this communal movie event. Also, remember a water bottle or travel mug for hot chocolate. Please see the Movie Night poster on the next page for more details. International Primary Curriculum (IPC) Miss Miriam, who is our IPC Co-Leader for Learning with Miss Maura, presented IPC focuses for this academic year to Parent Representatives. You will have already seen the IPC noticeboards and weekly IPC features in this publication to promote IPC learning focuses. IPC developments include the alignment of Personal Qualities language and understanding right across the Panaga School Community. Our IPC Action Team and school community are doing a fantastic job of developing this alignment of such fundamental learning areas. Thanks Miss Miriam! United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) Miss Josie, who is also a part of our IPC Action Team, as well as the Whole School Art, Design and Technology Leader for Learning, presented information about the UN SDGs initiatives that are evolving throughout Panaga School and across the community. Thank you Miss Josie! School reports In response to parent feedback and in consideration of teaching and learning, school reports have been redrafted for Term 1 and Term 2 of this academic year. Parent Representatives and the School Board were presented with these reporting documents. Children’s Term 1 Reports will be provided to families at the end of term.
damianbrady@panagaschool.com School leavers To support school operations, families who are leaving are asked to advise of departure dates as soon as possible. Student leavers until Term 2 will be issued either an End of Term Report or a Leaver’s Report. From Term 3, any student leaver will be issued a full school report. Please be reminded that two weeks notice is required to produce such documents. Wishing you a happy weekend, with a reminder that next Tuesday is a Public Holiday (school closed) in recognition of Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday. Regards, Cindy

Many thanks to our Indian Community who brought the celebration of Diwali to life on Thursday 15th November for our younger children. The morning began with a lively dance by the mums who dressed in their beautiful traditional clothes. The children then had fun joining in with the dancing. Later, the children enjoyed learning further about Diwali by looking at and making Rangoli patterns and hearing the story of Rama and Sita. What a colourful and fun morning!

Adaptability I wonder what these statues mean ?
Reflecting on some of past weeks’ IPC Chats
This week, we are looking at Resilience.
Resilience
Through their study of IPC, children will be able to:
- Stick at a task until it is completed. - Be able to cope with the disappointment they face when they are not successful in their activities. - Be able to try again when they are not successful in their learning. What this means to your child: Mendaram
Rampayoh
I can keep going when success is not instant. I can cope with disappointment. I can try challenging tasks. I can focus on my learning until I get it or it is finished. I can try and find some solutions when I have a problem. I can cope with disappointment.
Teraja
I can complete learning tasks independently and when faced with problems I can look for solutions and try again. I can enjoy challenging myself to continually improve.
Melilas
I can set challenging goals and not give up when faced with difficulties, and will seek to coach my peers without being prompted. At the start of the week, your child could choose a skill he/she would like to master. Over the next few days, they practise this and discuss how you have to use resilience to learn something. One idea could be to learn to tie your laces or speed up your number bonds.

Jobs in the Panaga Community P3 had an informative tour around Panaga Club last week, to coincide with their IPC Jobs unit. The children were lucky enough to meet employees who shared information about their places of work, talked to us about their roles and gave the children opportunities to ask questions.
The children were inspired by sport enthusiasts in the golf and tennis sections, immersed into the love that people share for books with our librarians, informed about the different office tasks in the administration and financial departments and even had a ‘back stage’ tour of the Serikandi kitchens from the manager. Children tested their skills on electronic typewriters, learnt how to coach people to be able to putt a golf ball and saw how teams of people work together. They had first hand opportunities to explore land and building use in our local community and a few of the different jobs that people do to help us. A huge thank you to Panaga Club staff who supported this learning opportunity for the P3 children. By the P3 team
