Updates from the Principal’s Desk Issue Sixty-Five 12th June 2020
Dear Panaga School Community, Together, Improving Learning; Together, You and Me, Our Community; Together, Getting Better - Together - the foundation of Panaga School's vision and learning definitions.
Over the past 3 months since the school’s closure, we have witnessed sensational creativity to overcome barriers to enact our school learning IFM/4, definitions and vision of togetherness, while adapting to new ways of BSP Company Sdn Bhd, learning and working remotely. We have also experienced our Personal Seria, KB 3534, Qualities being severely put to the test for our students, parents and staff alike. News over the past 24 hours that our eagerly anticipated Phase 2 Negara Brunei Darussalam return to school for all on Monday is currently delayed has taken us by surprise. The excellent nationwide progress in combating the spread of (+673) 3375728/3372139 COVID-19, led by the Ministry of Health, is to be celebrated and supported. (Teraja/Melilas), We aren't currently aware of why there is a delay to the Phase 2 return to (+673) 3372694 school, but in support of the good work of the Ministry of Health, we need (Mendaram/Rampayoh) to wait respectfully for further information while also working with appropriate channels to appeal this decision and make further enquiries Principal: about the unique learning environment that is Panaga School. Please be Cindy Bin Tahal assured that as soon as updates are available about a Phase 2 return, this (+673) 3372355/8777028 cindybintahal@panagaschool.com will be communicated.

In this week's Panaga School Weekly (PSW), I celebrate with our community P7’s return to school, as a part of our Phase 1 school reopening. It is wonderful to have an average of 85 students now back at school, learning face to face, in a manner that safeguards the community through the social distancing measures in place. Photos of our P7 children’s return show enthusiastic learners together, while socially distant. In support of the social and emotional needs of P7 students’ return to classroom interaction, Miss Danni and Mr Sha have set out learning experiences accordingly. Pictured, you can see the introduced social distance spacing between student desks that provide board games to accommodate brain breaks between learning. There is also a photo of students tuning in to drawing directions from peers to warm back up and sharpen communication skills in readiness for socially distant, yet cooperative learning. What an interesting concept, not one that any of us have had to consider in our teaching careers previously. It is fantastic to now have P7, M1 and M2 back in school.
Thank you, Panaga School Community, for your ongoing support, collaboration, and understanding as we navigate our way forward in these unprecedented times. Enjoy taking the time to look through the pages of this week's PSW, which now reflects both face to face and remote Panaga School Weekly editor: learning. This weekly publication continues to prove to be a powerful way of bringing together our community through the celebration of learning. Damian Brady Thank you, Mr Damian, for your editorial expertise and creativity, as well damianbrady@panagaschool.com as our families who continue to coauthor each wonderful PSW edition through your many valuable contributions.

Kindness rocks in EYFS
The children in EYFS were set a ‘Kindness Rocks’ challenge this week. Lots of the children participated and decorated rocks with beautiful pictures and happy messages. These rocks were then shared with friends or hidden around camp. We hope that if you see one on camp, it might brighten your day. Feel free to decorate your own rocks and add them to ours! Kindness rocks! By the P1 team

Lana loves Coding
For her Rampayoh DE Home Learning, Lana (P2R) was tasked with designing and programming her own app. In her game, she programmed Red Riding Hood to walk through a beautifully designed magical forest to make her way to grandmama’s house. No sign of the wolf, thankfully, as Lana has successfully inputted appropriate key presses to make sure Red Riding Hood stays on the right path. Well done Lana! - Thamine and Mr Damian

My chickens Last week I got some chickens. We only have three so far, but we might get some more. My mum helped me choose the names and I chose which name goes with which. The white one is Henrietta, the brown one is Esmeralda and the black one is Penelope. Henrietta is the least afraid of me and Esmeralda and Penelope still don’t trust me. Henrietta has laid one egg so far which we haven’t eaten yet, but we will. Esmeralda and Penelope are still too young to lay eggs. Penelope is the sleepy head. She sleeps all the time, but when she’s asleep and I come in, she goes absolutely crazy! We decided not to have a rooster because some people can’t sleep very well and we don’t want to make it worse by the rooster COCKA-DOODLE-A-DOO-ing in the morning. Esmeralda looks absolutely stunning. She has a lovely texture of brown and black on her feathers and wings, but just because of her beautiful looks that still doesn’t make her my favourite. Henrietta is my favourite because she doesn’t run away from me all the time like the others. My cat Pippa looks out the window almost all the time to look at the chickens but luckily she is an inside cat so she’s not able to hurt or kill them. I love having chickens because they are entertaining, we can get eggs to eat and I enjoy taking care of them. By Nikhil (P6S)
