Panaga School Weekly, Issue Seventy-Two 18th September 2020
Updates from the Deputy Principal’s Desk Dear Panaga School Community, We continue to navigate staffing arrangements in support of quality teaching and learning, despite the fact that our incoming teacher arrivals are still being pursued. We appreciate that this is a trying time for all, especially our incoming staff. Parent understanding and collaboration with such matters is so important. We endeavour to keep parents informed of staffing developments, however, this is a challenge with unexpected news presented in short timelines. We operate an open door policy. If you have Panaga School IFM/4, any questions, please speak with your child’s class teacher in the first BSP Company Sdn Bhd, instance, or reach out to a member of our school leadership team. The Seria, KB 3534, Negara Brunei following article offers parents further insights into our staffing situation, Darussalam which continues to evolve in response to many variables. Pre-Nursery - changes in programme Our youngest students require a high staff to student ratio. Student numbers have grown significantly in this area of the school, which will be resolved, but not until we have enough new teachers arrive. A three day a week programme will run in Pre-Nursery in the meantime, which will be reviewed by Tuesday 29th September, with Pre-Nursery parents updated on this situation.
P2 Acting Year Group Leader announcement While we continue to await the arrival of Miss Ali, who is our new joiner and P2 Year Group Leader, we have staff doubling Panaga School Senior up responsibility in support of student learning. During our brain waves unit, we have been finding out how our brain and memory help us to learn. Our Entry Point games were an exciting introduction to the learning that would follow. Our Knowledge Harvest helped us to find out what we already know and what we wish to find out more about. When Explaining the Theme, we found out about connections with other learning and which subjects we would study.

Our research involved some reading, videos and practical tasks where we found out some new information and gained knowledge. We have recorded our new learning in lots of ways too! When reflecting, we have really started to understand how we can transfer our new skills and knowledge into different areas. Our Quiz, Quiz, Trade game in the Exit Point brought all our new vocabulary together.

We have been successful in our learning this week:
I know what a reflex is. I know that the cerebellum controls our automatic reactions. I know that we will be learning about using our conscious brain. I know that I have two kinds of memory - short-term and long-term memory. I know that things need to be practised, repeated or recalled to get into my long-term memory.
KNOWLEDGE! We have learned lots of new facts – Marcela try this at home •
Stand on one foot.
•
Stretch out both arms to the side and start moving one hand forward in a circle.
•
Keep going with that and try to move the other arm backwards in a circle.
How easy was it? Ask P6 what part of your brain is controlling these movements.
It was a challenge because we had to remember and the information was in my short-term memory. - Okiki I didn't do very well in this activity but I know I can improve next time. - Hershel
