Principal’s Foreword As I reflect upon this Yearbook, it is extremely rewarding to be reminded of the range of experiences that we offer to our students. The creative arts play an important part in our school curriculum and while we all understand the drive for academic excellence, we also ensure that our children receive a broad and balanced curriculum. Our aim is to always give a holistic, child-centred approach to education where children have the opportunity to excel in a wide range of areas. International Mindedness is also a key area that we endeavour to develop at Panaga. We understand the need for a national identity, however, we also encourage the development of an open, respectful and enquiring approach to other cultures. The introduction of Bahasa Melayu lessons is an example of developing an interest in and respect for our host country, Brunei. As you look through this Yearbook, I am sure you will view several examples of creativity, internationalism and of course, academic excellence. This year has been monumental in many ways. The building expansion that is nearing completion is probably the biggest change in the long history of the school. As we complete the new buildings, we will take great delight in fully utilising the new educational facilities that will further support the children's learning. Clearly, the physical environment helps the education process, but the key features of any school are the teachers and support staff. In my short time in the school, we have dramatically increased the teacher numbers to support our children in their learning. Next September, we will have close to seventy teachers in the school and over fifty learning support assistants. Along with the new expansion, we feel the addition of extra staff will further enhance learning experiences for our children. All of this success would be difficult to achieve without the support of our many stakeholders. I would like to acknowledge the support that we receive from the School Board, the PTA (who have kindly half-funded this Yearbook) and BSP; plus our supportive parents and community. A special thanks this year to everyone who has worked tirelessly on the school expansion. At the core of all we do are our vey special students who come from numerous parts of the globe. Children at our school integrate quickly and soon become part of the Panaga family, due to our team of dedicated teaching and support staff who harness the children’s enthusiasm. As you look through this Yearbook now and in years to come, I hope it evokes many positive memories of the authentic and rewarding learning experiences that your children have been exposed to and which will remain with you for a lifetime wherever you may be. - Tim Robinson, Principal

IP3M and the Personal Learning Goals

We used our ADAPTABILITY to try things a different way, if what we had in mind didn’t work.

In role-play, we showed RESPECT for each others’ choices and ideas.

We demonstrated that we could be THOUGHTFUL and supportive of our friends when working together on a task.

We showed RESILIENCE by working on the problem until it was completed. We showed the right VALUES when listening to each others’ ideas.

Milepost 1 Sports Day After a delayed start due to the smoke haze, our Rampayoh students showed great determination during our Milepost 1 Sports Day. The students of P2 and P3 had practised hard during PE lessons to hone their skills in basketball push, football dribble, sack race, bucket-ball, standing long jump, running relay, obstacle course, javelin and penalty shoot-out.

With the later start, the conditions proved tough as the sun’s rays grew hotter but the children of Rampayoh showed tremendous resilience in earning as many points as possible for their house.

The Engineer of Panaga was our interpretation of Merchant of Venice. Our enquiry into Shakespeare’s times showed that 16th Century Venice was similar to Panaga today - people from different communities came together to trade, just as people from around the world come together in Panaga today to produce oil. This play required all of our speaking and listening skills.

Communicating the story to our audience was our top priority. We cooperated effectively with each other, respecting the contributions that everyone made.

Studying the original play and producing our own version has made us think about our values of how we need to do the right thing all of the time - treating everyone with respect - regardless of our differences. We think we are now more thoughtful in our approach to our community as a result.

Everyone needed to be resilient whilst practising as we all made mistakes. We learnt from every rehearsal and were always adaptable - aiming to make the performance better.
