Brunei National Day Wednesday 23rd February this week provided the opportunity to celebrate Brunei’s 38th year of independence as a country. Across our school assemblies, we have taken the time to celebrate this momentous occasion with a variety of activities including information videos and Kahoot games, which have been both informative and fun. Parents may be interested to take a look at one of the videos our creative local staff created to help celebrate and educate us all about Brunei’s National Day: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bQwY4RNTbXmazP5jImgUNKRlYuioByVj/view?usp=sharing
International Women’s Day - March 8th 2022: #breakthebias International Women's Day (IWD) provides a useful opportunity to reinforce the fact that everyone has a role to play in forging a more gender-balanced world. IWD 2022’s campaign themes are: Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together, we can forge women's equality. Around the world, from small grassroots gatherings and local celebrations, through to large scale events and press conferences, people everywhere are delivering exciting and engaging speeches and presentations that reinforce a commitment to women's equality and awareness raising. In Melilas, we will be dedicating time to this event, linking this to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 of 'Gender Equality'. On Monday 7th March, Melilas students will be running a series of activities recognising International Women's Day to consider, reflect upon and present #breakthebias. This experience aims to continue to develop our Melilas students as global citizens. Please scroll/flip the next few pages to be inspired by more quality teaching and learning taking place across our school community…

Gâteau master chef, Oliver Oliver (P6M) created a fantastic cake in the shape of the Eiffel Tower as a part of his French project. He also worked out that the Eiffel Tower is the same as 190 Miss Stephs standing on top of each other! - Michelle
