Updates from the Head Teacher’s Desk Dear Parents, As the academic year comes to a close, there is an opportunity to reflect on all that has happened across the year. Having only been here since February, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the children, staff and community of Panaga School. There never seems to be a quiet moment within the school and the opportunities provided for the children are incredible. This week, I have enjoyed the delights of the Lion King Milepost One Concert and the wonders of Maths Challenge Day. In the short time I have been here, I have seen such changes in your children and from my desk, it is clear to see how ready our P3 children are for their move to Teraja and P4. On my frequent visits to Melilas, I have seen such changes in our M2 children, who are ready for their move to their new schools. They go forward with such a wealth of experience, knowledge and curiosity that has been developed by the incredible teachers within this school. Last Friday was the highly anticipated International Day. What an incredible experience and thank you to all parents who have been involved in preparing for the events. To see such vibrancy and sharing of world culture and diversity within the community was amazing. Thank you to all performers who proudly and confidently stood before the whole school to share the wonders of the world. We have some highly talented individuals within our school.
The theme of the day was ‘My country now, my country 70 years ago’ and it was fantastic to have conversations with the children and to see their understanding of this wonderful world grow in such a short space of time. Whether completing quizzes, sampling food or asking questions, the children were enthused throughout. When discussing the event with some of the older children, it was inspiring to hear a child remark: ‘It’s amazing, Mr Mark, look how different all of our backgrounds are and yet we can work together so well; perhaps others could learn from us!’ Often the words of children speak so loudly. I wish you all a wonderful summer break and look forward to welcoming those of you returning back in August. - Mr Mark

Parents roar with delight at Milepost One’s wonderful showcase of The Lion King Over two glorious nights this week and a whole school dress rehearsal matinee on Monday, P2 and P3 children staged a wonderful rendition of The Lion King in the Rampayoh Hall. Congratulations to all children for their wonderful acting, singing and movement. Their performances across all three shows were outstanding.
Thank you to all parents for coming along and helping with costumes, props and hours of song recitals at home. Thanks to all teachers and LSAs for the many hours of rehearsals and ‘backstage’ work during and after school across this term. What a roaring success! Our entrepreneur in P3! As a part of one of our DT projects, P3 designed and made souvenir T-shirts using the paste-resist method. Farida chose to make her T-shirt for Azul Beach CafĂŠ on Panaga Beach. Azul Beach CafĂŠ spotted her T-shirt and were so impressed with her design that they are planning on using the design to have more T-shirts made. These will be available for children who attend their Summer Kids Camp. Well done Farida!

What an amazing Sports Day we had with the Nursery children.
We began with an aerobic warm-up and then the children participated in all of the activities including sack race, obstacle course, running and football shoot. The parents cheered on the children and it was super to see the children being resilient and adaptable and supporting each other.
The grand finale was the parents’ races. Thank you to all of those parents for being such good sports. It’s not easy wearing a long wig in this heat!
A special thanks goes out to Alex Loi for these beautiful photos.
