Brunei National Day School Assemblies This week’s assembly on both school sites has been led by our local Bruneian staff, who have demonstrated their national pride while providing new knowledge about Brunei to students. Please take the time to discuss your child(ren)'s Brunei National Day learning with them, asking questions such as, "Did you learn anything new about Brunei that you didn't know before this week's assembly?" Your child(ren)'s answer to this question could offer you some new knowledge about our wonderful host country, while also helping your child(ren) to become a reflective learner through learning-focused questioning. Panaga School's Brunei National Day Assemblies have developed a tradition of being engaging, educational and entertaining. This week’s has been no different in celebrating Brunei’s 36th year of independence. I would like to acknowledge and thank our local teaching staff for their efforts. Happy 36th National Day, Brunei! School and company bulletins - parent WhatsApp communication There has been a recent surge in important, timely communications on offer to our school community in relation to Health, Safety, Security and the Environment (HSSE). This correspondence has been provided in both company and school bulletins. I would like to thank and acknowledge our Parent Representatives who play a crucial role in disseminating such information through WhatsApp communication groups. In January this year, Parent Representative WhatsApp contacts were provided in an email to all parents. In addition, reminders were offered to new joiners to ensure such connections were made. If you are not part of your child(ren)'s parent WhatsApp communication group and would like to be, please contact their class teacher for assistance.

Parent-Teacher Consultations and Term 2 reporting We look forward to the Parent-Teacher Consultations (PTCs) at the end of this term to discuss student learning. Parents will be provided with an end of term report that supports the PTCs, highlighting how your child(ren) is progressing in their learning. Term 2 reports are due to parents on Monday 9th Panaga School Senior March for Melilas students and Thursday 12th March for P2 to P7 students. PTCs will take place on Administration Officer: Tuesday 10th March and Wednesday 11th March for Melilas students, with P2 to P7 PTCs taking Jalinah Bte Ali place on Monday 16th March and Tuesday 17th March. International Day 13th March

Admin Support, A reminder that International Day is drawing closer. Please refer to Miss Donna’s piece on the Rampayoh/Mendaram: Upcoming Events page, reaching out to registered representatives from each country to attend a final Zurimah Bte Jumat preparation meeting on Friday 6th March in the Teraja staffroom at 11am. z.jumat@shell.com

If your country hasn't yet registered and would like to, please contact Miss Admin Support, Teraja: Hannah (hannahzakaria@panagaschool.net) or visit her in the Rampayoh office. Next week's Panaga Hasmah Bte Hj Salleh School Weekly (PSW) will provide further details about the event. Miss Sarah is also doing a wonderful job of working with our school community to create an International Day Assembly. This hasmah.salleh@ assembly will take place under the Teraja Tent between 8.30am and 9.15am. We have had many shell.com community groups provide some wonderful cultural performances at assemblies; it would be a great Panaga School Weekly opportunity to bring these performances to the Teraja Tent for the whole community to see. If you would like to participate in the International Day Assembly and haven't yet registered, please contact editor: Damian Brady Miss Sarah (sarahhutson@panagaschool.net). All parents are welcome to join International Day. Look damianbrady@ out for the programme in next week's PSW. panagaschool.com

Wishing everybody a good weekend. Kind regards, Cindy

P3 footballers bedazzle ‘in-house’, indoors! On Thursday 27th February, P3 footballers finally got their chance to showcase their football skills and exhibit many Personal Qualities at the P3 In-House Football Competition. In some exciting matches, all teams competed fiercely and fairly, using wonderful ‘Cooperation’, ‘Resilience’ and ‘Communication’ skills. They were also very ‘Adaptable’ in not only preparing for this deferred event, due to the Football Tournament’s cancellation, but in playing on an indoor surface. The podium finished as: Thunderbolts in first, Storm Chasers - second, and Lightnings - third. Special mention and thanks to Miss Donna for her hard work in helping to organise and run this memorable afternoon.

Middle Years Music - film music compositions Our Middle Years students have turned themselves into film music composers this term. They have been looking at how music can evoke emotion in film, by setting a particular mood and helping tell a story. The students were given the task to create a ‘silent scene’ and then compose music to accompany their scene.

During the composing process, the students had to think about the different musical elements needed to create an effective piece of music. By Sarah Hutson

Melilas Art

M2s have been exploring ‘Protest and Street Art’ this term. Various artists that incorporated political, social or environmental issues in their artwork were researched. For their own Art project, M2 were set the task to develop and create their own piece of Street Art to protest an issue they felt passionately about. Following this, some fun was had with stencil graffiti templates and spray paint before working on designing their own stencils. Congratulations to Hannah (M2P) for her piece called, “Our Last Meal”.
