Updates from the Principal’s Desk Dear Panaga School Community, Panaga School Weekly (PSW): Continuity of Learning continues to grow as a concept, with this its third special edition. These pages provide us with an opportunity to celebrate how learning is adapting, in response to the school’s closure. Enjoy seeing familiar faces, as we thank many families for once again contributing their learning stories. This week, I had remote meetings with more than 12 international school leaders, both within Brunei and globally, to discuss school closures and remote teaching and learning. The reality is that interruptions to 'usual' learning for children are being experienced at predominantly a global level. Yes, 'usual' learning is interrupted, but let's think about this a bit further. We are all in this together; attempting to educate our own children, work (from home), support the emotional and physical health and wellbeing of our children and ourselves while maintaining a household in these unfamiliar times. I would like to share an article that I read within a blog from author, educator, parenting and resilience specialist, Maggie Dent (www.maggiedent.com), in response to the concerns many of us may currently have about our child/ren's learning, in the hope that you find inspiration in this message, as I did:

"What if instead of falling “behind", this group of kids is ADVANCED because of this? Hear me out. What if they have more empathy, they enjoy family connection, they can be more creative and entertain themselves, they love to read, they love to express themselves in writing. cindybintahal@panagaschool.com What if they enjoy the simple things, like their own backyard and sitting near a window in the quiet. What if they notice the birds and the dates the different flowers emerge, and Head Teacher: the calming renewal of a gentle rain shower? Mark Walters What if this generation is the ones to learn to cook, organise their space, do markwalters@panagaschool.net their laundry, and keep a well run home? (+673) 3373972/ What if they learn to stretch a dollar and to live with less? 8988224 What if they learn to plan shopping trips and meals at home. What if they learn the value of eating together as a family and finding the good to share in the small delights of the everyday? Panaga School Senior What if they are the ones to place great value on our teachers and Administration Officer: educational professionals, librarians, public servants and the previously Jalinah Bte Ali invisible essential support workers like truck drivers, grocers, cashiers, (+673) 3375728 custodians, logistics, and health care workers and their supporting staff, just jalinah.ali@shell.com to name a few of the millions taking care of us right now while we are sheltered in place? Admin Support, What if among these children, a great leader emerges who had the benefit of a slower pace and a simpler life to truly learn what really matters in this life? Rampayoh/Mendaram: What if they are AHEAD?” Zurimah Bte Jumat z.jumat@shell.com I hope that everybody is coping okay and are finding ways to stay motivated and positive. Please continue to send your wonderful photos and stories to Admin Support, Teraja: our fantastic editor, Mr Damian: publications@panagaschool.net. Hasmah Bte Hj Salleh A special mention to Folu (P6M), who has had her learning recognised hasmah.salleh@shell.com internationally through our IPC connections.
