Updates from the Principal’s Desk Dear Panaga School Community, International Schools' Assessment results In February this year, over 51,000 students from 250 international schools in 61 countries or economies participated in the International Schools' Assessment (ISA). Among these were students from all of Shell’s schools, including Panaga School’s P5-M2 students. Schools’ ISA results are compared to others that present as ‘similar’ in context, schools in their region and all schools who took part. Panaga School teachers and students are congratulated for their continued, strong academic success at a global level, which validates our internal teacher-led student assessment data. Below are this year's outstanding P5 to M2 ISA results for Panaga School.

Students’ individual ISA reports will be distributed in the near future. Logistics for this need careful consideration first, given our current school closure. Miss Perminder will communicate further with P5-M2 parents soon. Special thanks to Miss Perminder for her coordination and leadership of ISA processes.

Of course, ISA results always tell a deeper story to teachers. For the results of your child/ren (those in the year groups who completed the tests), please be reminded that this information provides a snapshot. With this data, at a whole school level, we can reflect on the teaching and learning available to all students. We can drill down into the areas assessed and reflect on our practices to constantly improve our whole school strategic planning. Knowledge of student movement in and out of particular year groups, as well as teacher interventions to ensure the continued progress of students identified as ‘more able’ have had an impact on improved results this year, compared to last. Congratulations Panaga School Community for maintaining a continued reputation of academic excellence. Parent opinions on Term 3 school reports Parent input is constantly being sought as we continue to navigate these unusual teaching and learning circumstances. This week, we request input from parents to assist with our decision making about how to best to manage Term 3 reporting of student progress. We have concerns that interruptions to learning limits the accuracy of teachers’ judgement at this time. We also understand that for some families who are potentially moving to a different location in the near future, school reports may be required to support school transition. I have engaged with a number of school leaders about this topic and it seems all school leaders are still considering how to best manage student reports for Term 3. Panaga School’s leadership team agree that no matter what format is used, we will need to include a statement that acknowledges the limitations of Term 3 reports in response to remote learning and school closure. Please click on the link below to complete a survey to assist us with our decision making about how to best manage Term 3 reporting: Panaga School Term 3 Reports Parent Survey Panaga School’s application to reopen This week, the school’s leadership team submitted the required documents to the Ministry of Education in a bid to approve students’ return to school from Tuesday 2nd June. Parents will be kept informed of the progress of this application and any other relevant information. Once again, thank you for making these special Panaga School Weekly: Continuity of Learning editions so engaging. The variety of stories from families in our community through this forum are a welcomed end of the week celebration. Keep your stories and photos coming (publications@panagaschool.net)! It is wonderful to witness the many modes of learning being conducted throughout this unique time in our lives, that will one day be seen as an interesting moment in history. Kind regards, Cindy

Laksh is a whizz in the kitchen
From engaging in all of the wonderful activities posted by his teachers, Laksh (P1 Turtles) is particularly excited about the ones that involve making yummy treats. He tried his hands at making lemon honey juice which involved mixing the right amount of both ingredients to get that perfect taste. Pizza making was fun - adding toppings in a symmetrical fashion. Rolling snail shaped snacks from a puff pastry sheet involved choosing his favourite spread. Arranging cut fruit and veggies to form bug shaped snacks ended in a beautiful plate presentation. - Ruchi
