Thank you for taking the time to submit your articles to Mr Damian who continues to do a fantastic job of putting together these special Continuity of Learning editions. National Women in ICT Competition The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) has a fabulous Women in ICT competition running that is open to all residents of Brunei. ...of the 781 million illiterate people in the world, two thirds are women, indicating that the Sustainable Development Goals must include literacy and numeracy as part of the success indicators of the next round of global action in education. We would argue that computational skills are also necessary for tomorrow’s children and youth to be able to fully take their places in society. While the figures of women in the global ICT workforce look apparently quite acceptable, in fact of the 30% of women who do work in the ICT sector, only a small proportion are in the formal ICT sector, indicating that many women are losing out on equal pay, social rights and protection, and promotion possibilities to raise themselves and their children and families out of poverty. This competition is a great way to promote women in ICT, while demonstrating the wonderful writing skills and ICT knowledge of our student community, with great prizes available. Mr Damian and Mr Neil provide Panaga School students with an excellent Digital Education programme, where our female students are equally celebrated and recognised as capable ICT participants. I would like to acknowledge the initiative of AITI for promoting women in ICT and strongly encourage our students to consider submitting an entry. For further information, please see the poster in this week’s PSW.

Active citizens - Lucie and Cailee (P7D) Lucie and Cailee, from P7D, have taken the initiative to act on an idea to make the world a better place. With a business proposal forwarded to me and then appropriate BSP approvals in place, Lucie and Cailee will run a Bake Sale, with profits benefiting the work of Care and Action for Strays (CAS). Stay safe, practise social distancing and turn up with your small change and containers to support this great cause. I look forward to supporting Lucie and Cailee, from 6pm until 7pm (unless sold out earlier), on Monday 18th May, along the pathway behind Teraja. Great initiative, Lucie and Cailee, we all look forward to reading how it goes in your report in a future edition of Panaga School Weekly. Parent webinar - remote learning: parent perspectives Fieldwork Education, across the group of Shell Schools, will offer a parent webinar, with an opportunity to hear from parents from international schools of the challenges and successes during school closure and remote learning. DATE & TIME: Friday 15th May 2020 at 4:00 pm (Brunei time) DETAILS OF WEBINAR: Challenging, successful, confusing, fun, insecure, roller-coaster of emotions are just some words parents have used to describe their experience of the school closure period and remote learning. Join us in exploring an area that for many across the globe is the new ‘norm’, yet only months ago seemed inconceivable. During this session, participants will have the opportunity to hear from parents from other international schools, with children spanning the Early Years to Middle Years age-range. Our speakers will share their personal experiences and provide an insight into where they have encountered challenges and success. There will also be an opportunity for participants to join in a question and answer session. SPEAKERS: Parents from Sakhalin International School, Russia, Panaga School, Brunei, and Rumukoroshe School, Nigeria; plus consultants from Fieldwork Education. Please click here to register. Registration is free to all Shell School parents. Please keep your contributions coming in for next week's PSW Continuity of Learning edition, which is due to take us into Term 3’s one week midterm break. Submissions are to be sent to publications@panagaschool.net. Wishing everybody a safe weekend. Kind regards, Cindy

Flora’s family love to celebrate together
We have been planning and having a celebration for Flora (P2E)'s IPC Celebrations unit Exit Point. The whole family got involved in helping Flora prepare for her celebration, choosing music for musical statues, creating and hanging decorations, wrapping a present to play Pass the Parcel, as well as baking shortbread and whipping up delicious hot chocolate. What a memorable celebration it was! - Gina

Personal Qualities, new and old, wonderfully on show at home Oliver (P4J) and Rowan (Nursery Sunbears) have been working on their Personal Qualities during their homeschooling. They have charts with homemade Personal Quality stickers which they update at the end of the day. We have even created a new one, the ant, for working hard. This week, Oliver displayed great creativity and hard work during his IPC topic on dinosaurs. For an art assignment, he produced a series of Surrealist photographs which he then turned into a comic strip of his little brother going on a visit to Jurassic Park. We all had fun setting up the photos under Oliver's direction! - Michelle

Mairah loves building sandcastles Mairah (Pre-Nursery Hornbills) enjoys an evening by the beach building a castle. She fills the mould with sand and turns it so that her tower is made. She also gets help from her mum to make a swimming pool because Mairah LOVES water! She is very happy and proud of her castle and enjoys the sunset by the beach. No better way to end the day! - Roshini
