Time for Monet This lockdown has been both challenging and a blessing of sorts. With less to do, we find the space to explore and dedicate time to things we don’t usually get to do. Alisha (M1P) loves crafting and art but seldom finds the time to sit down and paint. On a beautiful morning, she quietly started painting at her desk and slowly finished it at her own pace until the afternoon, choosing to complete the rest of her homeschooling only after that and finishing later in the day. She hasn’t really painted in a while and this time has allowed her to find the mental space and time to just sit...and paint. - Fariny

Aiden (P4J) and Aaric (P1 Turtles)’s week of outdoor challenges As we celebrated Outdoor Classroom learning this week, Aiden and Aaric really enjoyed their learning challenges at our home, in the garden and at the beach. Exploring Nature in the Rain On Monday, Aaric had so much fun exploring nature in the rain.

Pictures from left: Aaric found a warning sign, standing near a beautiful white flower and he drew smiles on the window. Making a den On Tuesday, the whole family were involved in making a den for Aiden and Aaric in our garden. They were really helpful and diligent. Both are so excited the den has been standing firm on the ground for 4 days already. Now, the den is their favourite place where they can play and read a book.

The den is made up of branches of palm leaves and sticks. Aiden’s favourite reading spot.

Aaric shows his nature costume and crown made from leaves.

Aiden makes 2D and 3D shapes from chopsticks and playdough.

Making nature faces They gathered up some leaves, shells, pebbles and twigs that they found on their way to the beach to make their nature faces in our garden. Making an outdoor clock and sundial using natural resources

Aiden shows his outdoor clock made from pebbles and twigs. He recorded the movement of the Sun hourly by marking shadows with a twig. He started at 11, and at 12, the Sun has moved from the left to the right. - Jessica

Outdoor learning with William and Owen in Canada William and Owen (Nursery - Orangutans) and I have been living on Vancouver Island in Canada since early March and we spend more time outdoors than ever before!

We spend most days exploring the forest and beaches around our Nana’s house and we have learned so much! We have seen sea lions, eagles, vultures, an owl, squirrels starfish, and crabs, plus many deer. We planted Nana’s garden, built forts, have learned to trail run and climb rocks and are now hunting pirates.

We still wish we were home with our Daddy and friends though. - Kristina
