Panaga's Got Talent I wish to acknowledge and thank our entire school community who have come together to adapt and generate a really entertaining Panaga's Got Talent. Four ladies who have been instrumental in bringing this together from behind the scenes, who I wish to specifically thank, are our organisers: Miss Kate, Miss Claire and Miss Amy. Farewell and thank you Ceri As we have all been made aware, our Managing Director, Dr Ceri Powell, is due to leave Brunei Shell Petroleum and Panaga soon. Ceri has become a valued member of our Panaga School Community. She has been a frequent guest speaker and has welcomed students to her office as an extension of learning. Ceri has also been a visible member of the community involved in a range of community events. More recently, we welcomed "Matilda Goop", aka Ceri, to the judging panel of our Panaga's Got Talent where we really learned just how adaptable and talented our Managing Director is. Our school community took the opportunity to thank Ceri and wish her well, in keeping with current social distancing measures in place. Please enjoy this video of our remote thank you to Ceri by clicking here: Thank you video - Ceri Parent remote learning survey This survey aims to capture parent responses to the manageability and effectiveness of Panaga School’s remote learning, for reference if such information is required in the future. There is no current indication that remote learning will return. Planning for such requirements is as a precautionary measure only. This survey is anonymous, with live responses available to Mazlina Maawiah (IFM and School Line Manager), and the 2020/21 Panaga School Leadership Team. Thank you for taking the time to complete this short survey by clicking on the following link: Parent remote learning survey. Kind regards, Cindy

Thank you to all who entered Panaga’s Got Talent 2020, the standard of acts was particularly high this year and judging has proved challenging. We are very proud of all students and adults who made the effort to enter and we hope that you have enjoyed the experience. Pre-Nursery says thank you! Over the last few weeks, the Pre-Nursery children have been inspired by the work of some famous artists. They have used this in all areas of the learning environment; from painting, running in circles, searching for shapes, identifying colours and a myriad of other self-directed activities that we could never have imagined. In addition, we have watched the children reform their friendships, show wonderful personal and social skills of sharing, cooperation and turn taking. We even have one friend still doing distance learning far away from Panaga who we try to stay in contact with. There has been so much laughter, music, singing, running, climbing, exploring, bubbles, water, investigating, paint, jumping, wonder, sand, building and all of the other things that happy two and three years olds do every day at Panaga School’s Pre-Nursery. As the year draws to a close, the PN team would like to thank all of the parents for entrusting their children to us each day of the week. It has been a pleasure to teach your children and watch them develop and grow. - The Pre-Nursery team

In our IPC learning, we found out about famous buildings and created some clay tiles. We learnt how to roll out identical tiles.

We needed a lot of RESILLIENCE working with the clay.

We drew and cut shapes with tools and even learnt how to join the pieces back together with cross hatching.

Panaga School Weekly, Issue Sixty-Eight, 3rd July 2020

We learnt a new word: CROSSHATCHING. We needed to cross-hatch both surfaces in order for it to stick together. After sticking our shape onto our base, we smoothed out the sides to get that 3D look.

Don’t forget to add details to your art for that life-like finishing touch!

Do you recognise any of these famous buildings or landmarks?

Saving the world from home A few girls from P5 were motivated to create their own lemonade stand off the back of our volunteer work in PSHE and our Saving the World unit in IPC. Due to the restrictions, we were unable to do these events at school so they took the initiative and created them at home. - Miss Tania

INTERNATIONAL LEARNING TARGETS: 3.05. To be able to explain how the lives of people in one country or group are affected by the activities of other countries or groups. 3.06. To be able to identify ways in which people work together for mutual benefit.

We researched what is and found out that in 2030 irreversible change will occur, therefore, WE need to act!

- Nicole

China caused the most climate change.

Climate change is when the temperature of the weather changes. In this case, the planet is warming up.

Climate change is increasing really fast and there are many things you can do to stop it, such as: plant trees, carpool to school, not waste any food, use the 3R’s and eat less meat.

Climate change is when the world gets hotter through greenhouse gases.
