Torment and Joy
Description If you ask me why I like design, I will answer you, because it provides me with both torment and joy. At the beginning of every design, you might feel distressed, and many times it seems to you have entered a black hole where there is no inspiration. Then there is constant exploration, endless collection, trials conducted time and time again on countless days and nights before the project is presented finally. I am excited, and I am proud when people appreciate my work. Design makes me satisfied. I will say to design, “I hate you, but I love you even more!

TORMENT AND JOY
Goodbye,glasses!
Description The book containing 66 pages is about visual reality. It is divided into three chapters, i.e. introduction to the invention process of Visual Reality Lenses and its future application. This book pays attention to layout design, type design, and hierarchy.
Concept In the era of science and technology, VR technology is also accessible. My book focuses on the use of VR contact lenses in medical treatment and daily life. I hope people can learn more about knowledge in this domain. In this book, I want to reflect the future sense of technology, so I chose blue and orange as the main colors of the book to imply such a purpose. Blue represents competition, while orange is a symbol of future progress.

Stop picky eating
Description Picky eating habit is a common problem during childhood, often causing considerable parental anxiety. I want to tell parents that picky eating habit is a severe problem for children, and picky eating can bring a lot of serious harmful effects. Therefore, parents should enhance their consciousness and prevent their children from becoming picky eaters.
Concept This is a visual system project. To make the project work, I designed three system posters and three delivery projects. Since the project was about children, so I preferred soft and bright colors to show my children’s liveliness. The circle is more tolerant and symbolizes affinity.

The typographic dream state
Description This project gave me a chance to explore typographic form in a new way. The dream state can be a terrific tool for generating unexpected results within a system.
Concept I chose the PINK FLOYD music album—THE WALL. I designed the poster for the music concert. I hope to show the character’s life on the album using the three posters. I chose blue to show the depression of the character in the album, and I added pink so that it can be connected to the band name. Moreover, I made the title mistier so as to associate it with the dream.

Take love home
Project
Description This project encourages people to help homeless animals, and try to adopt them to give them a warm and happy home. There are three deliverables, all of which share the same topic, but not a system design.
I designed the Logo, Poster, Brochure and a magazine.
Concept I love animals, so I chose this topic. I try to make them more creative and joyful. In the logo, I choose the sans serif typeface to create a friendly and cute feeling. In my poster, I added a picture of a lovely cat who is exactly gazing at the slogan, aiming to attract more people’s attention. I used brighter and stronger colors to show a sense of happiness. I designed the movement layout in my magazine.

Typesetting
Description This project guides people to know more about the typeface. It will show more details about types. I have chosen three fonts, namely DIDOT, BASKERVILLE and BERKELEY. I explained all of the details about these three typefaces.
Concept I choose three bright and robust colors in my posters. I hope to attract all people’s attention to these three posters. And I focus on the layout, balance, and hierarchy. I hope to endow this layout with more movement and fun.

Didot
Ear with drop terminal
The typeface family known as Didot was designed by Firmin Didot in Paris in 1783. The Didot types defined the characteristics of
themodern(or didone)roman type style,with their substantial stems
Vertical Stress
flowing into extremely thin hairlines; the serifs are straight across with virtually no bracketing. Because of the very finehairlines
that are characteristic of modern romans, their use was somewhat restricted in metal types.
Designed by Adrian Frutiger for digital technology in 1992,Linotype Didot retains all of the features make Didot types superior for book
work and other text use; like Bodoni, its delicate lines are enhanced in display uses. —MyFont.com

Jazz music conference design
Description This is a system project for the SAJE organization (South Africa jazz education) conference design. It includes all of the conference information, poster, schedule, App, website name card and CD design.
Concept I selected orange and dark blue to show the Jazz feeling. I think orange can present Jazz as passionate and creative, whereas blue indicates the swing and blood Jazz music. With the sans serif typeface used, the poster becomes friendlier in welcoming people to participate in the conference. I try to make these deliverables more consistent, with emphasis laid on heritage, balance, and layout.

TORMENT AND JOY
Thank you Instructor I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my teachers, Mary Scott, John Nettleton, Hunter Wimmer, David Hank, Andrew Loesel and Wioleta Kaminska. Thanks for your patience, help and valuable amendments, without which I would not have improved each of my projects or made any progress. Every suggestion you provided helped me clear away my confusion. It’s you who have transformed me from a green hand who knows nothing about graphic design to someone who knows graphic design and loves it. Without your help, I would not have graduated satisfactorily.
Family Members I want to thank my mom and dad. Thank you for supporting me and helping me learn graphic design in the US. Without your help, I could not have been who I am today. Thank you, my husband. You gave me a hug when I was sad and told me to go ahead bravely. Thank you, my little brother. Although you are only eight years old, your love and encouragement make me continue to work hard. Finally, I want to thank my cat—Milk. With your company on countless days and nights, I no longer feel lonely. Thank you all, thank you for giving me everything, I love you!
Friends Thank you, all my friends. I’m glad to meet you in the US. It is you that make me feel like home in a foreign country. Every festival in your company fills me with happiness. Whenever I encounter problems in my study, you’ll always help me patiently without any reservation. Thank you. Long live our friendship.
