Vowels: /i:/ and / ɪ / Procedure: • The teacher will show a video that shows the correct pronunciation of the /i:/ and / ɪ / sound. • The teacher will give to each student a picture that shows the correct position of the tongue and mouth. • Then the teacher will explain and make the students repeat the sound. • The teacher will also give a list of words that contain the /i:/ and / ɪ / sound.

Stage: Description and Analysis Objective: The student will be able to identify the sound /i:/ and / ɪ /. Material: Look in the next page!

Vowels: /æ/ and /ʌ/ Procedure: • The teacher will give a worksheet to the students, with words that contain the /æ/ and /ʌ/ sound. • The teacher will fold the worksheet in the middle, so that each student can only see half of it. • The teacher will sit a pair of students in front of each other. • The start arrow indicates which student starts. • When the next student hears a word, they have to locate it in the HEAR column and say the word next to it in the SAY column. • The students will only get to the finish button if they are able to correctly pronounce the words and identify the words their partner is pronouncing. • At the end the teacher will give class feedback and revise any words that were tricky.

HEAR AND 02 SAY Stage: Guided Practice Objectives: The student will be able to recognize and pronounce the words with the /æ/ and /ʌ/ sound.

Procedure: • The teacher will give a worksheet that contain words with the /i:/ and / ɪ /. • The student will identify if the words contain the /i:/ or the / ɪ / sound. • When the students identify which sound the word has he/she will write it next to the word if is the short / ɪ / or the long /i:/

Stage listening discrimination Objective: The student will be able to identify the target sound.

MINIMAL PAIR BINGO! 04 Vowels: /u/and /ʊ/ Procedure: • The teacher will distribute a minimal pair bingo worksheet. • The teacher will instruct the student to select and write down 24 words of the words given in the worksheet’s boxes. • When the teacher says a word, the student marks and “X” on that word. • When the student marks four in a row they yell Bingo.

Stage: Controlled practice Objective: Student will be able to identify /u/and /ʊ/ minimal pairs.

Vowels: /o ʊ / and/ ɔː / Procedure: • The students will make a story of 2 paragraphs where they have to use the /o ʊ / and / ɔː / sound. • Then the students will get in pairs and tell their classmate their story.

Stage: communicative practice Objective: Students will be able to use the sounds /o ʊ / and / ɔː / in the creation of the story. Materials: -Pencils -Sheet of paper

Consonants: /v/ and /f/ Procedure: • The students will work in pairs. • The teacher will pass a worksheet for student A and B • The teacher will explain to the students that one student will be “A” and the other will be “B”. • The student A will read the sentences of his/her worksheet while student B will circle the word that he or she hear.

Consonants: /k/ and /g/ Procedure: • The teacher will give different sentences that contains the phonemes /k/ and /g/. • Then the students will read and with their cellphones they will record themselves. • At the end the students will listen to the record and write down what they think they have to improve.

Stage: Metacognition Objective: The students will evaluate pronounce the phonemes. The students will evaluate themselves.
