LA PIOLA & PIAZZA DUOMO RESTAURANTS
Piazza Duomo and La Piola restaurants opened in the Piazza Duomo square in the center of Alba. The Ceretto family inaugurated the two restaurants, housed in a single building, together with Chef Enrico Crippa. The project represents a new and ambitious challenge underlining the importance placed by the Ceretto family on its native territory and its passion for art and culture. La Piola, on the ground floor, expresses the most authentic traditions of strictly Langa-style dishes, served alongside a selection of local wines. In Piazza Duomo, 3-Michelin Star Chef Enrico Crippa gives free reign to his creativity and knowledge of raw materials, making imaginative use of colors and designs, perfectly in tune with the creations of the artists invited by American designer Bill Katz to enrich the restaurant space. On the tables of La Piola one can find a small gallery, with plates designed by artists including Donald Baecheler, James Brown, Robert Indiana, Kiki Smith, Philip Taaffe, Terry Winters, John Baldessarri, Lynn Davis, and Thomas Noskowsky, while Francesco Clemente is the author of the fresco adorning the walls of the Piazza Duomo restaurant. The Ceretto family is one of the largest vineyard proprietors in Piedmont with more than 160 hectares of estate-owned vineyards, located primarily in the Langhe and Roero region, including in the prestigious DOCG areas of Barolo and Barbaresco. Through the years, the family's attention has turned to visual arts outside of packaging, initiating collaborations with famed artists and architects on numerous projects intended to enhance the various family estates. www.lapiola-alba.it

The building that hosts the restaurants “TUIT” and the market “EATALY” in Asti, is located on the border of the historic city center, in the street of the town theatre. Full of history and memories, the building has been, from the very beginning, the perfect site to host the commercial initiative TUIT. This venture was born from the collaboration with Eataly, they both share the goal of giving value to the high quality products from the Italian food farming tradition.
ASTI
The passion with which this business venture has been fulfilled, has also sustained the complex renovation work of the building, that is distributed in four floors: pantries and services on the basement; bar, restaurant and marked on the ground floor; kitchen ad chef’s table on the first floor; restaurant for the dinner service on the second floor. The building is geared with all necessary systems and technical equipments to provide high level of comfort to all users. The decoration of this project is based on some specific photographic works, created together with the studio Torri from Milano, aimed to highlight the close relationship of this business with the territory. On the restaurant walls have been hanged a number of large size photographies, that represent the basic ingredients of the Piedmontese cuisine: vegetables used for the bagna cauda, cheese used for the fondue, bread, cold cuts, fruit, game and white truffle. www.tuit.it

Located in the proximity of Dogliani, the restoration of a great Langa farmhouse with a 2.000sq mt of land featuring a park, swimming pool and a garage in the basement, has brought back to life an old house transforming it into a beautiful villa of an important Italian entrepreneur. The house is located on a hillcrest, has a panoramic view of all around you, unique for the stunning views. Vineyards, valleys, mountains and the infinite given by the sky colours . An old farmhouse from the 19th century, has become a modern country house that has kept unchanged all the original characteristics from the building: window dimensions, color and type of doors and windows, plaster washed by the time.
CA’ DI NOSTRI DOGLIANI
The courtyard has been transformed into a garden and the old wagon shelters have been demolished, restored and converted into a guest house. Out of this new space there have been made fourteen rooms with a bathroom each, an apartment for the caretaker, a large swimming pool with annex rooms, a movie theater, the studio and several living rooms. To keep the integrity of the natural outdoor space, the car park has been built in the basement and has space for ten cars. Indoors, the pavements have been made with antique oak laid either in planks or following the Versailles design; the walls have been either decorated by hand or covered with French wallpaper. The bathrooms have been made with light Roman travertine marble. The architect Paolo Pejrone has taken care of the landscape architecture.

CASA MARRO
ALBA
Amongst the medieval buildings that have survived in Alba, the one called Casa Marro or Il Castellaccio is without a doubt the most impressive. If the towers of the city have powerful stoneworks, the height, brings them to stand out against the other constructions and soar towards the sky. However, this house-tower even tough is as high as a five story house, is majestic because it has a powerful and compact mass. This building exposes along two sides, south an west, to Piazza Pertinace. The complex is the combination of several narrow and long bodies, as it can be seen on the rectangular floor plan with where the greater side is only three times bigger than the smaller one. The entire construction has undergone through a deep restoration and renovation; the external intervention has recovered most of the stonework and medieval characteristics and has highlighted the existence of a Roman temple. The ensemble is supposed to be a stately home from the end of the feudalism and the beginning of the democracy era, with a building tipology of a house-tower with defense and shelter functions during the struggles between the factions. It is th th probably from either the 13 or 14 century.

Located near a monastery of the fifteenth century, the historic building owned by a major producer of Barolo wine has been renovated into a singlefamily house of 400sq m with attached three apartments used for tourism purposes. The works have allowed, thanks to the choices of the different finishes and furnishings as well as cutting-edge plant equipment, strong contrasts between past and contemporary that characterize the internal environment. Any outdoor space is instead characterized by the respect for the historical traits typical of the place , a village located in the vicinity of La Morra , in the territory of the Langhe, the World Heritage.

The building that has been transformed, was built between 1962 and 1964 as the seat of the Cattolica Assicurazioni by the arch. Carlo Alberto Bordogna, a prominent figure in the cultural and in the professional world of Turin in the second half of the twentieth century. The faรงades to the city, architecturally strongly characterized by a classic weaving and harmonically proportioned with the character of the surrounding environment, have been the target of a respectful conservation work. After thoroughly having cleaned up the lining of the precious stone and now unobtainable Trachite, the windows with single door have been replaced, essential glass railings have been made and technological dimming elements in aluminum have been incorporated. At dusk, a delicate hatch bright LED characterizes the intervention. However, the great transformation takes place in the inner court, where the existing facades, much lower tone, have been completely reshaped with the inclusion of an independent white steel structure that supports a system of lodges, screened by sliding panels and glass railings. The volume of the new black metal outdoor elevator contributes to the change in volume and color of the court. In the six floors of the building were obtained 29 residential units of various sizes, for a total of 2400 square meters. The attic, completely rebuilt, has been converted into three apartments characterized by the sequence of bright and innovative glazed dormers. The building is designed with a very technologically advanced plant equipment, reaching the energy class A.

The building, the historic seat of Enel, was built at the beginning of the last century to celebrate the progress and welfare of the belle ĂŠpoque. The majesty of the front guards inside elegant atriums and vast halls on the main floor. Compliance with existing architecture has been the solid base of an enhancement project that has led to the establishment of managerial offices and elegant apartments with extensive terraced gardens. The intervention is characterized by the continuous search for innovative solutions, care and study of every detail, the functionality and quality of spaces. Luminous environments that are structured on several levels, green oasis overlooking the city. The promoter of the principles Living Supreme in the Turin intervention is Valore Reale SGR, a leading asset management company on a national scale. The project has set itself the objective of respecting the spirit of the building to fit inside a coherent project, which offers apartments with an atypical plan, but with quality and attention to detail, in line with the high level market to which the initiative is aimed. Inside the building 's total area of 21,000 square meters, partly occupied by the offices of Equitalia, there are offices and apartments, tailored to the owners. The project, which maintains the public areas between the large courtly atrium in the entrance, it also houses a garage with 50 car parking spaces, a fitness area, a space for receptions and conferences.

Located in a strategic position of the city center perimeter, next to the Train Station, it has been built a modern construction, a residential complex of about 7.000 sq mt habitable composed by three basement floors, to be used as car parking, and the building itself with a ground floor with a tertiary commercial scope and the upper floors with a residential building scope featuring luxury apartments. This construction was made after the demolition of all the preexisting structures (an impressive mill used to produce flour annex to storage areas and office). Great flat gardened terraces are connected to

the apartments of the upper floors; these terraces, with a high quality finishing, allow a view over the city center and the hills nearby. The use of cotto tile for the slabs and sunshades , as well as the use of fiber concrete plates and natural stone laid on ventilated faรงade to panel the building, give the construction a strongly innovative character with a recall to traditional colors and materials. A geothermal heat-pump system machinery paired to a micro combined heat and power units have been

The realization of these two buildings concludes the requalification process of the closed Saffa factory, located in the outskirts of the city of Asti and close to the new hospital. The project has allowed the recycling of one of the most ancient areas from the city of Asti, by constructing two buildings developed in height, a commercial area in the ground floor and a parking space. The construction of the two towers, project the city of Asti in the same panorama as many other cities in the world that have decided to develop vertically, respecting the limits of sustainability that the conservation of the environment and the energetic resources dictate. The two towers represent the highest construction impact of the city and constitute a connection with the medieval towers from the historic city center with which, based on their location, a dialog is created between the old and the contemporary city. They represent a new characteristic sign, especially for those transiting along the Torino-Piacenza highway or those entering Asti from the West, since they offer a new recognizable element that enriches the historic skyline without altering it, and representing a sign of continuity and development. The buildings are 15 stories above ground with a total height of 48mt. each. The ground floor, composed by the atrium that enters the residential building and is distinguished by a glazed curtain, gives access to an area of about 530sq mt designed for a tertiary commercial scope. The basement hosts technical rooms, car parking spaces and cellars, while the floors above ground are designated to be apartments of several typologies, with different structures and dimensions. The building is characterized by the ventilated façades in zinctitanium and photovoltaic and for its great aluminum glazed doors and windows.

NEW HEADQUARTERS OF BANCA D’ALBA

We are in the historic city center of Alba, via Cavour, a suggestive medieval straight road that, between colonnades and fortified stately homes, leads to the Romanic Duomo. Casa Paruzza, the ancient stately home bought by the Banca d’Alba to be transformed into its own headquarters, has experienced several transformations throughout the centuries. The outcome after the renovation is a fascinating concentrate of th architectural history: the façade has a 19 century eclectic style and, on top of the building the medieval towers with the original clay-brick surfaces th show up, the interior has the typical Baroque ornamentation from the 18 century. Following the external contamination, where the medieval towers stand above the 19th century façade, the project wants to value the contrast between old and new, continuing the cross-reference game between centuries. Along these lines, the Baroque decorations stand out with the minimal décor, the frescoes and trompe l’oeil from the 18th century are a background to contemporary works of art, and glass galleries reveal views of the medieval towers. Additional contrasts are found in the combinations of different materials, warm and cold colors, smooth and rough surfaces. Historic and contemporary well matched in perfect harmony, to add value to the noble origin of the building and its current function, creating a combination of novelty and character. In the inner courtyard of the construction have been built four basement levels to be used as meeting rooms, vault and safety deposit boxes and car parking space with a car lifting system machinery. The execution of these works has presented difficulties from many points of view: logistic, due to the central location of the building, located in the historical city center of Alba; historic, because of the fragility of some precious furnishings like the archeological findings from the Roman era and the valuable medieval tower; structural, due to the static bad conditions of the historic building and the delicate intervention to build the new four basement floors.

Following the flood that hit the city of Alba in 1994, during which the flooding of the river Tanaro severely damaged the headquarters of offices and warehouses, it was decided a change of venue in a different area on the outskirts west of the city. Here there were placed all the buildings used as warehouses, laboratories, offices and services. The office building, separated from the rest, is located in the area facing the road. The project is divided into two volumes clearly different in shape, size and use of materials, joined by a small glass block intended to be the entrance and reception. The low volume in brick hosts the operational offices, while the tall one, characterized by the use of wood and curtain walls, contains the executive offices. The basement is used mainly for operations-services: to this end it is protected by an airlock, most of it is open-work and allow lots of light. The building is characterized by a cutting-edge plant equipment and has been created with support structure in reinforced concrete cast in place and the use of the following materials: façade - solid bricks at sight, cladding in boards of cedar wood assembled into panels simply attached to the walls, protected by continuous insulating outer coat. The wood trim in red cedar of Canada is removable, windows - exterior aluminum profiles with thermal insulating glass with low emissivity , completed inside and outside with curtains of glass fiber, internal dividers - are " movable walls" in crystal with air chamber, floors – floating in dark granite, systems - the heating system is mixed, with fan coils and primary ventilation; thermal power stations and ventilation are placed on the covering and may be reached through the external spiral staircase, furniture - most of the operative offices use standard forniture, while the executive offices are equipped with furniture designed specifically for this building.

‘ONE MARTINI’ for MARTINI & ROSSI
The panel has defined it as a ‘refined example of contrast and integration between modern architecture, sustainable project and industrial historic architecture that entrusts the energetic efficiency the mission to be the bridge between past and future’.
‘ONE MARTINI’ for MARTINI & ROSSI TORINO
The building ‘One Martini’ is one of the projects that has won the cubo d’oro, award given by the agency CasaClima every year to 5 projects that stand out for environmental sustainability.
TORINO
MARTINI & ROSSI has always paid close attention to the full compliance of values and rules that regulate quality, security and environmental respect. From this vision has born a deep understanding with FRANCO BARBERIS SPA, that nonetheless believes in the sustainable development as a primary and essential value in planning and executing its own works, and that has supported the MARTINI & ROSSI during the development of this initiative. The project has been tailor made to the building, which stands in a strip between the two façades east and south to emphasize and show the main entrance. A double skin, a glass wall with oblique pillars, accentuated by a metal structure composed of vertical blades bended 30° with a double value: aesthetic and functionalsustainable. The external view changes depending on the position from which the office building is observed, because of the blades inclination. Entering the building, the perception is unexpected: a brilliance with feeble shadows and a light and dark effect, personalize the space instilling a light and fascinating atmosphere. The shell guarantees the sustainability of the building both for the usage of all the environmental resources used during the realization process, and for the energetic aspect during the daily fruition of the spaces. While planning and executing the works, the FRANCO BARBERIS SPA team has been supported by the agency CasaClima receiving precious indications and following the guidelines of their tested quality protocol and performance evaluation.

This construction from the early 20’s of the last century hosted until few years ago the Civic Boarding School, is located in the city center of Alba, on the square of the Social Theater and only two footsteps away from the Duomo. The building, with 5.500sq mt of floor area, has been restored to recover the attic and the basement and transform these spaces into the new headquarters of the Local Health Authority. In the courtyard, there has been built a two level car park (one of them in the lower ground floor) with a total of 160 parking spaces. During the construction, a Roman street has been recovered through an archeological excavation campaign.

MULTI STOREY CAR PARK
ALBA
The cooperation between the Franco Barberis SpA and the German company Goldbek GmbH has allowed the construction of the first multi storey car park with the GOBACAR system in Alba where, through the innovative Project Financing solution, there have been built 403 paying parking spaces. The multi storey car park above ground is located next to the Railway Station at the limit of the Historic Center but, at the same time, central, based on the current city development. The choice of this light and transparent architectural typology comes from the need to insert the structure in the urban context giving a sense of homogeneity, continuity and transparence. A special attention has been paid to the finish of the main faรงade, built with titanium zinc plate, and the lateral faรงades that present open gratings of painted wire mesh. Furthermore, the volume choice of the staircases and the commercial space at the entrance of the car park, nicely distinguish the building and camouflage the construction which is only used as a car parking space. On the side facing the railroad, the car park is closed with light structures, that prevent the free access and guarantee the security offering a protection towards the exterior, and creates an open effect that allows the light, both natural and artificial, to filter throughout the building. The structure is made of steel-concrete load bearing prefabricated. This construction typology has allowed the realization of a slight and low impact building despite the strong structural spans. The floor plant has been conceived based on offset floor plates: three facing the railroad, and two in a mezzanine towards Corso F.lli Bandiera, with indoor one sense access ramps.

MULTI STOREY CAR PARK
CUNEO
The cooperation between the Franco Barberis SpA and the German company Goldbek GmbH has allowed the construction of the first multi storey car park with the GOBACAR system in Cuneo where, through the innovative Project Financing solution, there have been built 550 paying parking spaces. The multi storey car park above ground is located next to the Railway Station and the hospital. The choice of this light and transparent architectural typology comes from the need to insert the structure in the urban context giving a sense of homogeneity, continuity and transparence. The structure is made of steel-concrete load bearing prefabricated. This construction typology has allowed the realization of a slight and low impact building despite the strong structural spans. The floor plant has been conceived based on offset floor plates: four facing the railroad, and three in a mezzanine towards the city, with indoor one sense access ramps The use of color characterizes the structure of the stairs helping to make more pleasant its inclusion in the urban context.
