INK NEWS

OUR VIEWS ON NUMBING CREAM W

ith people like Chris Brown on Youtube talking about the numbing cream that he use, its no wonder we have some of the new generation of tattoo lovers using the cream, dont get me wrong if you want to get something for the family and your not a model or a music artist there may be a point that you might use some cream or if your are old and you want to get that tattoo that you have wanted for the last 50 years then you will need it. But if your going to show off your ink to the world in

magazines and on the net then you shouldn’t use that shit, I mean its like going to the gym for a year to get bigger doing all that hard work 5 days a week and then you see some punk walking tall, looking how you look but he fucks around with steroids, lol, its the same kind of shit right? Some of you will think we are talking shit and thats cool but these are just our views. What the fuck has happend to the world when rappers who talk about the street life and all that shit but use numbing cream coz they

cant take the pain and lets be real, the pain from a tattoo is the kind of pain that you can block out but only if you get your mind in place. In this world people can do what ever they want and if you want to numb out the pain then do your thing, its all good this is just the way we view the shity numbing cream thing. We want to know what all of you lot think about the use of numbing cream in the tattoo world. Get at us on twitter, facebook and on the website

EVENTS COMING SOON e cant wait to party with all of you, We are going to bring you our creative crazy events, featuring all kinds of stuff that we like and we know that all of you are going to love.

W

Make sure that you join us on facebook and twitter to keep up

with all the news about the events, all of our members will get discounted entry into all of our events, parties, shows. We cant tell you alot right now but we will be bringing you more information in the coming issue’s of the magazines.

WHAT YOU WANT W e want to know what all of you think of the website and magazines so far. Let us know what you think we should add and what we should take away, your views means alot to us and we want our members and readers to have input into the movement.

Our events are going to be crazy and we have some stuff that is going to blow your mind but we also want to know what you would like to see. Go to the website or email us and let us know your views on the movement and tell us what you would like to see at our events, parties and in the magazines,

MEMBERS PAGE

GET SOME INK THAT STANDS OUT Can’t count how many times I have seen people with the same tattoos like the rosary beads around the hands and ‘’only God can judge me’’ writing., Don’t get me wrong the meaning of the tattoos are good but how much creative thinking went into the ink?

I

Getting tattoos should be about showing your creative side and being one of a kind, all humans are the same apart from the art we put on our skins so why get a tattoo of something that thousands other people have got if you don’t believe me then just

Google praying hands or ‘only God can judge me’ tattoos and you will see what we are talking about.

You should talk to your tattoo artist about what you want to get and not just give your money away, think before you ink!!! And we can bet you that most tattooists don’t want to put that shit on you.. If you see someone with a design that you like, don’t just copy the shit like a fool, take some designs that you like to your tattooist and let them do what they do best

be creative!!! Do a design for you that is one of a kind, come back a week later and see what they have come up with. A good tattoo artist will never let you down and if they do then your fucking with the wrong one. In our magazine we don.t like to see the same old tattoos we like ink that makes you say ‘wow’ I have never seen that in my life, that.s the shit we love.

Let us know what you think of our views on this, hit us up on the website or

WE BRING MUSIC TO THE MAGAZINE

HOP AND WE HATE

LSHIT

AND WE LOVE IT e love music over here just as much as we love tattoos and before Paperchasers Ink alot of us over here was in the music game so you know its only right that we bring some of that passion for music to the magazine,

W

From now on in each Issue we will be talking about urban music, reviewing mixtapes, and having interviews with music artists who are into tattoos. You will find out that we only like good music and not the music that you hear on the radio all day. We fuck with that good shit, we are into all kinds of urban music, from hiphop, house to soul but we will never promote any kind of music that is negative.

PAPERCHASERS INK

MIXTAPE VOL.1 GET ON THE MIXTAPE I

COMING SOON e are keeping the ink movement going strong and bringing out the official PC INK mixtape for all the music lovers, it will be featuring music from some of our members and features who are artists and its going to be a banger.

W

We will have more than music on the mixtape we have podcasts and interviews from members, artists and more.

You will be able to download the mixtape and art work for free on the website and we want you to share it to all your friends who are into ink. We have more music stuff coming soon like music videos for the mixtapes and podcasts on the website of our new radio show that we have on the way. We have a big love for music so we had to do this.

f you are a music artist with ink and you think that your music has got that fire to be on our coming mixtapes then contact us and submit your songs on the website. (NO TRAP MUSIC) We don’t play that shit. ou dont’ have to be a hiphop artist to get on our mixtapes, as long as you are urban, you have tattoos and your music is good than we want to hear your tracks.

Y

We aim to bring out a new mixtape at the same time as we bring out a new Issue of the magazine.

DEKAY’S MIXTAPE

REVIEWS HIPHOP ARTIST/RAP BATTLE KILLER

W

hen we knew that we was going to add this music feature to the magazine, we then needed someone who is really about their music, we know a lot of music artists but only one name came to mind, ‘DEKAY’ if you dont know about her then you need to kill yourself, lol but before you do that, google her, she has been making music for years and killing rappers in the UK rap

battle scene so she fits the role right to do the real reviews on mixtapes from some of the best UK hiphop artists. Each month she will tell you the real deal about 5 new mixtapes.

PIFF RHYS JONES

INNUENDO SPILT INK LP This album kicks off with a dirty bassline and a grime influenced flow from infamous Scouser Innuendo, best known for his Jump off and

RUKAS Master of the MASTER OF THE WORD Word'' is a pretty big claim for any writer to make, but Brixton lyricist Rukas holds up his end of the bargain pretty well on this epic 18 track release. The opening track begins with apocalyptic sounding music, building up to a fast paced, intricately woven rhyme scheme,

DEKAY THE VODKA EP

Okay, so I know it's not standard practice to review your own album, but I'm going to take a professionally detached position and speak about my latest release

Dont Flop rap battles. A thick Liverpool accent delivers bars that range from decent to witty and poignant throughout the rest of the 13 track E.P, covering a range of issues from getting smashed to the issues the tone of which is kept up throughout the album. Rukas sets the bar with his opening lines - " Unnatural oddity mad anomaly I babble comically from Babylon a freak Head of a Jackal wanna eat the Forbidden apple from the tree Travelled onwardly Battle

as candidly as any hardened music critic... The Vodka E.P is the latest release from underground writer, battle rapper and producer Dekay, fresh from North West London. With original

making it in the industry. Theres a good mix of musical influences here too, with track 'Never Buy The Sun' opening with an old school sample sounding intro, and honourably from the deep Aint no mystical weapons that will conquer me" - and keeps up an impassioned dialogue for the rest of the album. Features here are rather hit and miss, with some of them bringing down the production from old school legend Sweetie ie, plus Midi Intellect and Dekay herself. Covering a range of topics from crazy neighbours to a love for alcohol, this is an insight into the everyday life of a battle rapping, vodka

guitar riffs weaving their way through the beat throughout. The subject matter, lambasting readers of newspaper The Sun, is something you probably wont hear discussed anywhere else... The title

track at the end is probably one of myfavourites on here. With some good collabs from Tony D and Genesis Elijah, this is a good all rounder, well worth a download.

levels with sub par flows, and others complementing the tracks perfectly (i'll include myself in that last category, as you can find a Dekay verse on Anno Domini produced track Yesterday!) A standout track for me is the viciously funny and witty track Animated,

with brilliant wordplay and a catchy beat. In contrast to that another favourite it Beneath the Winter Snow, an emotional true story over a beautifully sampled beat. Covering a range of topics from religious beliefs to a heroin addicted past, this is a quality set of tracks that are unbelievably, free to download.

drinking hip hop fan today.

Whoever you are - and whether you like vodka or not, theres something for everyone in this sample free original album, with hood tunes, story tracks, and songs for when you just want to get your drink on!!

Standout tracks include the party fulled title track Vodka, true story of underage drinker Jessie, and a hauntingly produced modern take on Romeo and Juliet, The Golden Saints.

MIDI THE CITZEN SHIP ust spent the morning listening to the latest release from South london based Midi Intellect, well known in the underground scene for his pro cannabis lyrics and production skills. The Citizen Ship is a brilliantly crafted 6 track E.P based around the concept of a citizen 'ship', where everyone aboard is ruled by the captain of a corrupt government.

J

it opens up with a catchy, pirate sampling title track, that includes some need to know

information on common law and human rights. Close your eyes listening to this one and you can picture the barnacle encrusted boat, swaying in a sea of politicians, loan sharks and piranhas! The other tracks are equally rewind worthy, with true story 'Free Winston Jail Bayer' a must listen for any weed smoker. Further down the track list Midi combines hard hitting lyricism with a well known Pixies sample on track My Mind, a personal favourite for me.

STIG OF THE DUMP PIFF RHYS JONES

I

stay fly like a sleazy jet budget to Europe.." These are the first words out of underground heavyweight Stig of the Dumps mouth on this short but sweet 6 track album, mysteriously entitled 'Piff Rhys Jones'. As soon as the first licks of the Esyoube produced beat kick in, you feel this insatiable need to nod your head like you're in a Busta Rhymes video. The production is near to flawless, and Stigs cutting flows fit the vibe perfectly. Every track afterwards lives up to the first ones expectation, with the former E.O.W champion discussing everything from being broke and moving forward, to 'Smoking lemon in the watermelon skin'... Overall this is a sound album and well worth a download.

e love to talk with artists who are out there doing their thing and Fortafy is a artist who stands out from the rest, not just for his love for tattoos, if you are in the loop on things like Instagram,Facebook and all that then you would have seen photos of his ink but its not all about the tattoos Fortafy is going hard with the msuci and we love it, hiphop is alive all over the world so we talk to him to see what’s good.

ets get started so Fortafy very interesting name where's it from? Fortafy is a play on fortify which means strength and solid foundation, which is pretty much what you need to do anything successfully! Having fortafy instead of fortify was just something I knew to do at 15 years old so when u type it in YouTube or Google etc there wouldn't be 4939292929229 results and mine stuck on page 4. we see you went on tour in Fiji too, as well as working closely with a charity that helps kids how did that all come about? We'll my dad's family was from a small village in Fiji and if it wasn't for my Grandad educating himself and getting a degree despite coming from a place of no power or running water n having to walk miles to school each day they wouldn't of had the

INK PEOPLE opportunity to move to New Zealand and further better themselves in the modern western world so going back to the islands I just feel connected to where part of my family came from Its all about making something out of nothing if life, do you have any more tours coming up? Yeah definitely just working on a mixtape first then definitely will set up tours I'm constantly travelling Australia most weekends performing in night clubs already tho! We see you doing your thing out there, your ink game is tight and so is your music which is featured on our site lol tell us a bit more about your latest track girls with tattoos? Oh to be honest I just wanted to make a song about girls with tattoos as there is a massive following and interest in it and it's kind of the flavour right now plus I know some high profile inked girls that would make the visuals pop! Whats next for you with the music? I do music for fun to be honest i make money in other ways music to me is for the love first and

always has been if money comes from it then it comes if not I'll still make it as it's more something I like doing going in and creating my own diary through music We love that track you done, ''BODY MARKED UP'' that shit is a banger, you and Jeremiah Rahmeel go hard on it. Yeah kind of just happened pretty naturally You have had Sara Fabel feature in 'Body marked up' and 'o on my snapback' music videos, how did you hook up with her? Just through the song I did I see her a few times at the nightclub magic city I work at and hit her up if she wanted to be in the clip and she was keen so yeah haha then she pretty much blew up she introduced me to Instagram actually I didn't even have it till we shot the clip She has been killing instagram. you have got alot of ink, its hard to pick a piece but we like the watch that says 'the time is now', what inspires you to get more ink? I just like telling "my story" through ink We noticed that some of your work looks like almost tribal does it have a meaning? We'll it's just a representation of traditional designs and patterns from the pacific

INK PEOPLE When did you start getting inked? I got my first tattoo At home when I was 14 my dad got a tattooist over! It's pretty normal in pacific island people for teens to be inked Is there anywhere you wouldn't ink? Na if I feel like it I'll do it when I'm 100% financially set up and won't have to worry about what other people think then I might even ink my face but no plans yet Most painful place that you've had tattooed so far? My back which was a 9 hour sitting We think it's fair to say your image is very important to you and it's clear that you do a lot of working out, how many hours do you spend a week in the gym? I train as often as I feel I can handle which sometimes might b 6 times a week other times 3-4! I have no set routine, I listen and am Intune with my body if I'm sore I rest if I feel I can smash it then I'll train What clothing brands do you fuck with right now? Whatever's dope I don't care what brand nor cost if it's cool it's cool But Jvp my bro from Melbourne is number 1 for me You clearly love food! Lol specially sushi. Yeah food and especially sushi like I said it's just the process of creating something that I like You also know a delicious recipe for a cauliflower base pizza, that shit must be nice, how do you find these recipes and manage to find such deliciously healthy options? I just try to find healthy ways of still eating so called "unhealthy meals" Thanks for talking with us, Make sure that you check out Fortafy’s music on youtube and follow what he is doing on twitter and facebook. We hope that we can get him to come over to the Uk soon to kill some shows over here, hear more of his music on our mixtapes, coming soon

WE TALK WITH THE BOSS AT AGGYS INK TATTOO SHOP

We known about Aggy’s Ink for a while now, one of our magazine reps A.Ried and Dexter who we featured in Issue two of the magazine both have had work done by Amanda and we love what we see and you know that we love urban tattoo shops that are pushing out good ink so we have a little talk to see whats good. Hi Aggy, how are you, its good that we got to talk with you so you run your own tattoo shop how long have you been the boss?, I've had my studio for two years now,

30 High St, Hornsey, London, N8 7NX 020 3417 0305

AMANDA

GREENIDGE

Thats good, so when did you start tattooing and how did you get into the art? I got an apprenticeship at Grasshopper tattoo studio in Harrow in Sept 2008 where i stayed for 3 years and went on to get my own studio Aggy's Ink. your work is creative, do you like come up with one off designs for people or have

People pick from the books? I rarely do anything out of the book any more, or if it is it is adapted. My customers come in and normally give me their ideas and let me put my own spin on it. Thats the best way, its abit of a crazy one but how many people do you think you have tattooed in your life? Probably over a thousand. Shit that is alot of ink, What do you think of paperchasers ink

so far? I'm impressed, Thank you It would be good to see the magazine as a print copy to purchase in shops. We might do that soon, Have you worked on any celebrities that we might know? Celebrities... erm the footballer Marlon King, Steady and Breaker from the Dance Crew Flawless, Turbo from got to dance, Lacey Turner from Eastenders. What do you love about being a tattoo artist? I like that my customers trust and allow me to permanently put my art on their bodies. I like seeing my designs and ideas evolve. Ok lets flip it, what do you hate about being a artist?

SHOP FEATURE - AGGY’S INK

‘’I like that my c ustomers trust and allow m e to permanently put m y a rt on their bodies’’

SHOP FEATURE - AGGY’S INK I hate not having much of social life, as soon as I finish work I get home and have to work on designs, which effects my family and social life. I hate that customers expect me to put them in front of other customers in regards to appointments as they cant wait for me to be next free, and that I only have one pair of hands. What can we say, people are loving your work, How do you feel about people using numbing cream? I don't mind customers using the numbing cream, if it helps! but I think they should experience the full pain as part of the tattoo experience. Thats what we think as well, so whats next for Aggy's iIk? Next for Aggy's Ink... possibly introduce another artist 2014, maybe another studio... who knows!!! Thanks for talking with us

You can find Aggy’s Ink at 30 High St, Hornsey, London, n8 7nx and you can like their page on facebook to keep up with whats going on at the shop. If you go and get some ink done there tell them know that you have seen this feature.

LIFE W

hats good Karlo, its good to catch up with you to see whats popping, so what have you been doing over the last month? Always a pleasure to catch up with you lot. I've been busy with work as usual but i did get chance to get away on a much needed holiday. I got my head tattoo finished aswell so now its onto my legs to get those covered!

W

Yer your head tattoo looks nice, you have lots of ink, you must get pissed of with people asking you (HOW MANY TATTOOS DO YOU HAVE?) like they cant fucking see,lol It does piss me off inside when people ask as i

OF THE INK To be totally honest i love all the brands i have worked with because i don't say yes to any and every brand who contact me, i actually look into the brand and quality to see if i'll accept it to wear.

TATTOO KARLO stopped counting at 5 and there is way too much on me to count but i guess they don't know that so i just grit my teeth and answer haha. Lol With me having so many tattoo's i always expect those generic question so i go into auto pilot when i answer just because all questions i think i have heard.

You have worked with some cool clothing brands in the past but who are you fucking with right now, what brands are you feeling?

Thats real, there are alot of shit brands out there. There is no point saying yes to things i wouldn't even wear because that would be pointless to me if you get what i mean. I get you a 100%, so who is your main clothing brand? My main brand i stick by is someone i worked with from day 1 and that is Paladin. If you felt the quality of that brand you'd understand what i mean it is dope!

Shit, we are going to have to holla at Paladin to see whats good. Other brands i've worked with recently are Secret Society, Suicide Tuesdays, Watcha looking at clothing....the list could go on.

LIFE OF THE INK Fliping it up a bit, we need to ask you this shit, lol, how do you feel about people using numbing cream? Fuck numbing cream!!!! Thats what we say. i don't even know what it looks like if i'm totally honest. I always get asked that question so here goes auto pilot lol, Shit, lol, ok we are going to ask you some crazy next time, no more auto pilot, lol only joking. My views on numbing cream is if you want to get 'Inked Up' then you shouldn't even use that as it is part of the tattoo journey but if someone is getting a tattoo for personal reasons and maybe he/she doesn't like pain but it means a lot to them then that is fair enough i'd say. Thats true, ok what about if they front like they dont use it but they do,lol? You know what i've heard about a few people like that who i know of, artists have told me they cake it but they act differently in person. If you use it you use it but don't lie about it, that's like eating a pizza with a knife and fork but telling people you used your

hands. Thats how dumb it sounds to lie haha Lol, its funny and true at the same motherfucking time. So what music artist are you feeling right now? I love ALL music it is a big part of my life. ATM i am liking Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$ & Drake's new album, Yes that track Pound cake is a banger But i got to shout out my UK group Crook Street killing em down in London who you had in your first magazine issue which i featured in. Thats right, big up the Crook Street family, we had to kick off the magazine with some heavy hitters Art Daley is a dope UK rapper who i have actually worked with down in Brixton and need to do something else. Infact i should send you our song for you to hear, it is that dope trill UK hip hop.

‘having battle th to rough all the p eople do ing the dougie t o every genre of music’

LIFE OF THE INK We want to hear that, we will put that on the Paperchasers Ink mixtape that we have coming soon. We know that you like to hit the clubs, what was the last best nightclub that you went to and why? I can't even answer that as they all seem the same as the rest having to battle through all the people doing the dougie to every genre of music even slow jams just to get to the bar. Lol Aswell with what people see on tv etc now everyone wants to try to live a life they can't maintain e.g. buying one bottle of champagne between 6 and taking turns to do a lap of the club with the bottle and passing it on like a relay baton or spending their whole wage on a bottle then catching bus home and going starving until their next pay day. Thats fucked up but its like that in the clubs I'm from Birmingham so i stick to this town usually if i am out which is rare now as if i am not working i am getting that much needed family time. Thats some real shit, you was featured in a book, tell us about that? Yeah that was a very good experience and was good

to see myself in a book next to other tattooed people such as Jay Read, Yes Jay Read is a icon in the game, we need to get him in the mag at some point His big inspiration of mine and not just for the tattoos but for his life change around and life goals. I only got one copy which i gave to my dad which made him proud and he has above his fire place which made it even more special for me. Many more to come for me though so keep a look out. We got you, who is your main tattoo artist and where are they based? My main artist is Iain Stanfield who is based in Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham, he has tattooed all of what you see below the throat. I've known him for about 8 years now and have always loved his work. What artist done your throat? My artist who tattooed my throat, face, ears and head is Vicki Norton a artist based in Cannock at Cannock Ink tattoo studio.

She is a amazing artist who is always progressing as a artist and her work gets better and better every time. I love her work. What have you got planned over the next month? Next month i have a few shoots coming up but i don't plan very far ahead so i could have a lot more come in the mean time so only god can tell. Thanks for talking to us, till next time. Anytime it is always a pleasure to catch up and talk with you guys. Thanks for having me again, so untill next time....Peace....and think before you ink! Lol, we hope that everyone will

WE TALK WITH

TERRY ADANI

TO SEE WHAT’S GOOD

INK PEOPLE Yo Terry whats been good with you, its good to get you back in the mag to see whats popping, so what have you been upto? Since coming back from holiday i have had time to catch up with my tattoo buddies Triple4 Tattoo. Big up Triple4, What have you been getting done? We've been basically filling up all the gaps on my torso. Within the next few months I will be starting on my legs. Your not a model but from the good shots that we got with you and you looked good, would you start doing some modeling? Yeah I would start modelling. I really enjoyed the photo session with you guys. I'm glad people liked the photos. You still hitting the gym? I'm in the gym now almost everyday trying to get that perfect physique.

Thats a good look, keep it up, dont worry, you know we will holla at you to join us on some more projects, We know that you a man who likes his hiphop, who are you feeling right now and we are not talking about Justin Timberlakes new album cos we know that you have been loving that. Music wise right now I'm bumping Pusha T's new album 'My Name Is My Name'. We like the clips, their old album ‘Lord willin’ is a banger, I think ‘my name is my name’ will be a contender for Hip Hop album of the year. Also when I'm with the Misses we enjoy listening to Drakes new album 'Nothing Was The Same'. We are feeling that pound cake track on the drake album, so

what one of your tattoos do you like the most? My favourite tattoo is my Mothers name with the butterfly. My Mother is obsessed with them. I chose to get it on the left side of my chest because she's close to my heart. I'm a real Mummy's boy and I ain't afraid to admit it! We feel that, you done the Naga Viper Chilli hot wing challenge in Hoxton, 6 wings in 10 mins, tell us about that, how hot was that shit? Naga Viper Chilli hot wing challenge in Hoxton Square is crazy. You have to eat 6 wings in 10 minutes. How many did you get down you? I only managed to do 3. That shit must have blew your head off. Lol Before starting the challenge you have to sign a waiver to take responsibility for your own doing.

PAPERCHASERS INK

‘I looked like Sebastian from Little Mermaid! Lol By the third wing I couldn't even swallow’

INK PEOPLE When you have to sign papers, you know its the real deal, It's the hottest thing I've ever tasted. My face felt like it was on fire. I also looked like Sebastian from Little Mermaid! Lol By the third wing I couldn't even swallow, You had to also wear gloves when handling the wings too. Apparently only 2 people a week complete the challenge. Hats off to them!

always grumpy. Well it's because I had 5 Sisters and they would all drive me mad! So it's stuck ever since. Having 5 sisters must be mad, what about the MJ tatt? Michael Jackson was my childhood hero. I would sit there for hours watching his videos. With the tattoo design I wanted to get something significant that only real MJ fans would understand. So I the logo to his production company (MJJ Produtions)

Thats some man vs food shit, it sounds like that time food won. Lol

Thats big, what are you getting done next? I plan to start on my legs next with a portrait of Stephen Kings clown IT. Yo, that film fucked up my childhood My older Sister made me watch this when I was about 5. It gave me nightmares for years! Bitch! Lol

we love some of your ink like your superbad, michele jackson disco feet and Oscar the Grouch, tell us the stories behind them? People always say to me why the fuck do you have Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. Tell us why It's because When I was a kid and even now I was

how do you feel about people who use tattoo numbing cream and front like they dont, lol?

PAPERCHASERS INK

‘Tattoo numbing cream is for the weak’

INK PEOPLE Tattoo numbing cream is for the weak. Thats real talk I've never used it before. If your going to do something, then do it properly! My pain killer is some nice kush and Henny. It is dangerous to get high and drunk but it seems to be ok for me. How to do you deal with the pain when getting inked? My pain threshold is quite high. I've always completed my tattoos in one session. The longest tattoo session I've had is 7 hours on my back. Have you played the new gta yet? what do you think of it? Unfortunately I haven't played the new GTA yet. I'm waiting for the new PS4 to come out. Hopefully there will be a better edition to it. Shit you need to jump on it, its madness, thanks for talking with us Mr tTbbs,

last thing give a bigup to your tattoo artists Glad to be of an assistance to the Paperchasers Ink team! Shout out to my Wifey for standing by me through thick and thin, you have my heart. Shout out to all the mandem at Muscle Works in Stoke Newington. Shout out to all the Triple4 Family! We international baby. An last but not least shout out to my Mother and Father, without them I wouldn't be the man I am today! Love #Da20BagMan My skin is worth more then your whole wardrobe homie!

CHARLOTTE THE BOSS FROM LONG ISLAND INK

C

harlotte you are the proud owner and too rightly so of tattoo shop Longisland ink, how did it all happen? Yes I am the owner of Long Island Ink UK which is located in Sutton, Surrey. It all came about 3 years ago when i got kicked out of Uni for bad attendance and my friend from New York approached me with a business idea. He is the proud owner of two tattoo shops called Long Island Ink in Patchogue & Amityville Long Island NY. He said to me as I have a passion for tattoos and a business mind, why don't I set up my own shop. At first I started laughing at him as I thought it was a crazy idea. But as we spoke more about it and I did my research it started to look like it could be possible. So that is how Long Island Ink UK came about.

We love what you are doing, You are currently training to become an artist yourself how's that all going? I did start to learn and it was going really well. But I've now gone back to Uni so becoming an artist has been put on hold. What's it like to work on skin for the first time? The first time I tattooed on skin was very terrifying. I was so scared and my hand couldn't stop shaking. But it was on my friend so he made me feel better after I started. I wouldn't say it was my best tattoo i've done but for my first tattoo I was proud of it. Tattooing on skin definitely got easier as I did more each day. Have you ever had anyone famous come down to get inked in the shop?

MEMBERS PAGE We had Harvey from So Solid come to the studio to get inked a couple of times. He got his daughters name on his ribs, a tribute to his mate Jamie on his neck & a yin yang sign on his hand. I must say it was very entertaining to watch him in pain! Lol, You've got some pretty serious ink yourself, what inspired you? I would say "MY LIFE" inspires me to choose what ink I get. What was the first place you had inked? I got a small tattoo on my back when I was 13 years old in a shop in Soho. What the hell, lol Don't ask me how I got away with it but back then they wasn't as strict with ID as they are now. I thought I was so cool going into school with a tattoo. We like to talk music so tell us what music your into? I don't really listen to music like how I used to cause I'm so busy all the time. But when I turn the radio on in the car it's mainly house music, r&b & hip hop. When I'm at the studio then it's all sorts of music as my artists are into music I've never heard of before. But it's defiantly interesting to hear different types of music. All music is good you just have to get used to it, What do you think of Paperchasers Ink so far? I think Paperchasers ink is a good way for people to show of their ink to people across the world. I also think its interesting to see what ink people have and reading about how they got into ink and so on.

You can see more of Charlotte on the website, photos in the gallery and her members page, let us know what you think of this feature on the website or on twitter and Facebook.

MARVELOUS SOUTHSTAR HIPHOP ARTIST ON THE COME UP AND INK FAN

S

o your a rapper and song writer and you've currently been working on a lot of new stuff, tell us about your latest track that you was shooting your video for most recently? I've been working on releasing my first ever single release which is called ‘’ The Wait Is Over ’’ and features producer and singer/songwriter JoJo F. The single is out late this year on California Label CG Records. Tell us a bit about your D&B track too, I heard its a remix of concrete rose? Yes Tephra and Arkoze contacted me and said they loved my Track Concrete Rose from my ‘’I AM Music ’’ mixtape and wanted to do a remix. 8 months later and its sounding dope and will be out on Proximity Recordings later on in the year.

You mentioned recently that you had plans to open a clothing store in London, how did this all come about? That's something that I am planning for next year, its early stages at the moment but I want to open something unique to my style and music. That’s a good look, do you design clothes yourself? I've designed a couple of tees and Snapbacks but I want to fully go down that avenue next year for sure. We wish you the best of luck, I am lucky at the moment that I have clothing lines sending me clothes to rock, i plan to distribute those brands in the store when we can make that happen.

MEMBERS PAGE What about your ink? we mean your pretty inked up and I know you have plans on getting more,so far how many tattoos would you say you have? So far I have two sleeves, both hands, neck and stomach chest and ribs tatted. What are you going to get down next? the next body parts to be inked will be throat and finish off my legs. The very last piece will be my back, am saving that for a special design How old was you when you first got inked and what did you get and why? I was 17 and I Had my MARVELOUS tattoo on my arm done. with that first tattoo I made a conscious decision that music is what I wanted to do with my life so that tattoo is a constant reminder to my dreams. Look at it to keep you on the right track, we feel you and thats the tatt that got you started. Since then I've got more and more and with each piece I am dedicating my body to my artwork. I've come too far now to do a normal 9-5 lol Is there any where you would never get inked? no face! Do you only use one artist? Yh, its a girl actually, Ella Butcher. She works for Immortal Ink in Bournemouth. I travel two hours to get inked by her. I’m a believer you should stick to the same artist to keep the look and the work consistent. How many hats do you own? my snapback collection is pretty dope, think I have around 30 now!

ROSSI AHKAY TATTOO LOVER AND HIPHOP ARTIST

W

hats good Rossi Yeah am all bless cant complain

Lets start by saying thanks for becoming a member of the magazine, ahh, always a pleasure man its a good look. You are a hiphop artist apart of Diabolik Prophets with other members FacerDanno, you lot are doing your thing and spiting some deep shit, how did you guys hook up? Yeah Diabolik prophets is the crew, all started at music college when me & facer worked on some tracks together and instantly gelled cause of our raw anti government style of rhyming & shortly after

Danno joined the crew with the same political & twisted views to make that real raw hiphop. You lot came out with a banger Refuse To Lose, when are we going to get some more of that shit right there? Yeah cheers man refuse to loose was a big track for us hitting over 100k views on youtube and we had the privilege to perform that on stage in cambridge along side klashnekoff who's a UK veteran in hiphop music. But right now we have got shit planned for the future but not leaking to much, we like the suspense to build ;).

MEMBERS PAGE So you like the new track from Machine Gun Kelly home soon? I like every track from machine gun kelly, That track ‘Cleveland’ that he done is hot. The guys just a innovation in modern day hiphop if you ask me, can't get more real than that guy & he dose if for the love not the fame so MGK stands high up in the ranks of my favourite rappers man all day. Lets talk about ink, are you the only one of the team with tattoos? Well a lot of the team have tattoos but i'm the boss haha with that latino shit, everyone loves that vibe. That west coast style of ink is crazy, do you use tattoo numbing cream and what do you think about people who use it? Fuck no haha don't get me wrong if someone wants to use numbing cream then fair play to them but thats not me, the pain of a tattoo makes the experience of getting one a lot more satisfying in my opinion. That’s what we are saying, ok so how do you deal with the pain when getting inked? To be fair i deal with the pain really well i must have a high pain threshold or some shit or the idea of seeing the finished piece gets me through it i don't know, everyone in the studio was freaking out more than me when my throat piece done that was one of my easiest to sit through.

MEMBERS PAGE How many tattoos do you have now? Damm how longs a bit of string you know what i mean haha urm honestly I have no idea now i've lost count they've all just built into one big one so fuck knows. What one do you like the most? Probably the chevy impala lowrider in my inner bicep that shits dope as fuck. Yeah that looks good, whats the next tattoo that your going to get? More chicano art to finish the left arm then continue the chest to connect to the throat piece. You have a Wu Tang killer bee tattoo, how long have you been into hiphop? Yeah the killer big, wu tang aint nuttin to fuck with ;) urm been into hiphop since i can remember i cant even express what hiphop has done for me man & even when I am a old man my grad kids will be rolling round pumping a biggie track. Give a bigup to your tattoo artists. Yeah big up to Bobby Loveridge from NO SAINT INK in letchworth garden city the guys a genius with ink. Thanks for talking with us. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us ,he only takes the best. Thats deep, so what got you into tattoos? I first started out with one small one then realized how symbolic they are . I decided I wanted to wear my ink and show everyone my stories. I'm hoping to have two more before the end of the year ! I have more stories to tell ... :) Dont worry we will help you tell them, thanks for talking with us! Tamika-diamond is a urban tattoo glamour model and a music video vice she's most happiest in front of the camera.

Ok, you have a fair bit of ink, how many tattoos so far? I have 20 tattoos I would have more but I'm pregnant at the moment so I'm not allowed to get any ink but be sure I will be adding the baby's name soon after birth. That’s cool, your back piece is big, how long did that take? My back piece took 10 sittings and a hour each time at 100 a hour it still not finished I want to add lots of colour. Its going to look crazy when its all done, what's the sexist tattoo you have seen in your life?

MEMBERS PAGE The sexiest tattoo I've seen I'm my life hmmmm I couldn't say one in particular but cleo wattenstrom off insta looks the sexiest In her tattoos, yes she is hot she's a great model her inks amazing and she is stunning. That’s what we like, you have been working hard doing photo shoots and music videos for urban artists, what was the last project you done? The latest music video I'm in is Dvs featuring Syikes, ‘The Versace’ and that's out now! So make sure that you have a look for that and I also just featured in Dappys ‘Versace’ video as well. Shit, every rapper in the world is trying to jump on that beat and its not even that good, lol, what other music videos have you featured in so far? I've been in sneakbo and Mike Glc, Paper aeroplanes, and a lot of upcoming urban artists. Keep up the good work, in this issue of the magazine we have a

article talking about people who use tattoo numbing cream, do you take the pain like a big girl or do you use the cream? Numbing cream yes thank god for that. Say what!!!!! Lol I never used it till tattoo number 17 which was my back but I found the pain in parts so unbearable I had to run to the chemist and get some and after that, I just continued to use it as I don't like pain but usually I have a few alcoholic drinks lol then I'm alright x Give up the cream Tamika, you don’t need that shit Whats the next project that you are doing? I'm hooking up with another Paperchasers Ink member Starz to do a great photo shoot together so look out for that. That’s a good look, thanks for becoming a member and talking with us You can see more of Tamika on the website, photos in the gallery and her members page, let us know what you think of this feature on the Website or on Twitter and facebook.

BOZ TATTOO ARTIST AND HIPHOP FAN

W

hat's good Boz we wanted to catch up with you and welcome you as a member. We don't have many tattoo artists as members so we would love to know a bit more about you and your ink experience, when did you start out as an artist and how? i first started tattooing in about 2006 under a guy who i respect loads called Andy Morris who is an international award winning artist. When did you start getting ink yourself? I started getting tattooed late on really compared to people these days. i was 24/25 when i got my first tattoo. i wanted it to have a meaning to me and i wouldn't

get tattooed until then. basically i managed to gain a black belt in kickboxing after years of training so i decided to get a koi fish to represent how hard it was etc. Thats good. After the first tattoo i was hooked. i started going to the tattoo shop every weekend getting more and more added. some weeks i would go to the shop and get there before anyone else and get tattooed at the very end of the night. waiting all day for a half hour of shading. i never got mad or decided to go to someone else. after a few months of this Andy said to me "come and work on the

MEMBERS PAGE front desk of the shop on a Saturday - you're here all day anyway might as well have something to do" that was my first step to where i am now. i worked the front desk for about 8 months every weekend (take no days off) and in that time i was getting questions "does it hurt on the foot" i didn't know so i booked myself in to get this big ass tattoo done on my foot to see if hurt tattoo took about 3 hours in total and after about 2 hours i was biting down on a flash book hahah. Andy said "what the fuck are you doing this for" i said to give your customers advice. From there Andy offered to teach me how to tattoo - he had not had an apprentice before so it was strange for us both. i was working a full time job at the time so i was doing 8-5 in the day then at the tattoo shop 7-11 most nights (20 miles drive each way too) i eventually got better and better and decided i had had enough of doing rat race job and went full time tattooing. i actually did my first tattoo convention when i was still part time which was massive for me. That’s pretty much how i got started but we are always learning and growing as artists and people. respect to the first customers i tattooed and to every customer since. without them i wouldn’t be doing what i love

Shit thats a good story,You've got some pretty cool tattoos yourself how many you got? I get asked this question at least 4 times a week from customers and random people in the street. i always answer "one but its not finished" i plan on having full coverage one day but I am taking my time as there are so many artists and mates i want to get tattooed by I am running out of room. i have about 10 tattoos now (fingers hands full sleeves and chest are all linked so that counts as one ;) ) What does your ink mean to you? Some of my tattoos have meanings to me like i said above and to represent lost lives, etc but for ME it means that i wasn’t afraid of what people thought of me and I wasn’t afraid to stand out. its hard to stand out as a "tattooed" person these days as there are so many people with large tattoos and its a lot more accepted. What tattoos you getting next? Well i recently got tattooed by a guy i look up to called Mr Big Sleeps who works out of Fairfax Studios in Los Angeles. i had him do my knuckles "SICK SIDE" a few weeks back. I wanna get my full stomach piece next but I’m undecided on what i

MEMBERS PAGE want that to represent. ill think of something but I am in no rush really What style art do you specialize in yourself? For me i love lettering. Script lettering and big bold letters. i cant put my finger on why i love it so much but i get a buzz tattooing it and drawing them. i never turn away a tattoo though. i dont’ just do lettering, i do black and grey work, colour work, Celtic, Maori, new and old school tattoos anything even TRIBAL. i just love to tattoo and if someone wants something done ill do it. so long as its not racist or has a bad message. At conventions i tend to get asked for lettering and script so i work a full weekend with my mates doing lettering.. Strangest tattoo somebody has asked for? I've been asked for some crazy stuff you wouldn't believe me. a few stand out and i didnt’ wanna do the tattoos so i over priced and put them off. one was a Ouija board tattoo because the customer said she contacted her spiritual adviser through it. fuck that love I ain’t messing with that. Lol, fuck that, whats’ the favourite body part to ink someone? Easy places to tattoo like legs (side and back of calf are great). good visible places too like outer arms, top of biceps and i love to tattoo hands. What music do you have on your playlist right now?

Recently at the shop we have been listening to all sorts of stuff, psycho realm to mad caddies, to skindred, to prince, to wu-tang, we even have that new Eddie Murphy song playing haha. Lol, we cant hate on Eddie, its a good song One of our play lists include kc and jojo and slipknot so yeah pretty varied. in the car i have had yelawolf, Kendrick Lamar and the game for the last 12 months easy and then early cypress hill always. Cypress hill are still the shit, What do you think about Paperchasers ink? its nice to have something online that is new and fresh for the UK. there are a lot of people who wouldn't read a regular tattoo magazine and would read Paperchasers Ink. Thanks, and we are only getting started

DAN CLIK VISUALS BOSS JOINS THE MAG

w

hats good Dan you're the boss at BlueStreet Media, let the people know, what's it all about? BlueStreet Media is an Urban Media group that provides Video Production and Graphic Design services. I am actually in the process of closing BlueStreet Media down as I am now working under Clik Visuals. How did it all get started for you? Well, I have been an Artist all my life [Sketching, Painting, etc.] and it just naturally progressed into Graphic Design, then onto Video Production. Who is the best Artist that you have worked with so far?

I couldn't really speculate on that, I have worked with a lot of diverse talent, so there isn't really one that is "the best". Lol, we knew that you was going to day that, Ok lets talk about ink, how many tattoos do you have? I currently have 6 Tattoos, 5 making up my sleeve so far, and one on my neck. You got that eye tattoo on your hand in the pyramid, what’s the meaning behind that? Most people will recognize the "eye in the pyramid" as the symbol for illuminati, for me, this is to represent things like greed, lust, corruption, etc. which is being

MEMBERS PAGE incorporated into the whole sleeve on my right arm. Sounds good, You have started your sleeve, what are you going to add to it? I have not got any final designs right now, but it will be a mix of pieces just as the first half has already been. What do you think of Paperchasers Ink so far? I am impressed by what I have seen so far. Thank you Paperchasers Ink has a unique image that stands out and I think it's great how they keep their members/readers so involved. Thank you, that’s what we are about, so what Tattoo Shop and Artists do you fuck with? I use a local Tattoo Shop called Bloodline Tattoo Studio and the Artist I use is Thomas Pring. Thanks for talking to us. Good luck with the new company.

SHAJ TATTOO LOVER SHAJ JOINS US H i Shaj, so how are you doing? I am very well, thank you for asking… Wishing the hours away until the weekend reaches, as per usual lol

how dose it feel to be a member of the best tattoo magazine in the UK, Na fuck that, the world, lol? Stunned and a little shy to be honest, particularly as I wasn’t expecting it whatsoever but once greatness comes knocking the only thing you can do is accept! Lol, that’s kind of deep But truthfully, it is refreshing to see that having tattoos, be it one, or one hundred, isn’t something that is taboo or frowned upon like it was the case maybe 10/15 years ago. I really like the idea of a magazine that caters to people that choose to dress their bodies with ink… It’s

an individual thing and anything individual is sexy. So tell us what got you started getting ink? What got me started, hmmmm… well this is going back a good few years now.

Tell us the story Well I got my first tattoo when I was around 17 (hidden from my mum of course) and it was a quote by French philosopher Voltaire in my own handwriting which was at the top and middle of my shoulders… That then was followed by the names of my parents written in Urdu in my mums handwriting and one by one the collection grew. Getting tattooed wasn’t to be different back then, it was what I liked and wanted as a representation of people/places/emotions that I had during that

MEMBERS PAGE period in my life. I have a lot of tattoos and nearly every single one is dedicated to either my family or those that have made an impact on my life and way of being. are you happy to be featured in this members issue of the magazine? Of course I am happy, over the bloody moon more like! It is nice to have your ink admired and appreciated by others, as beauty is always in the eye of the beholder! how to do you feel about people using tattoo numbing cream coz there are lots of people who use it and front like they don’t, lol? Well, I personally think to each their own, if it makes the tattooing process more bearable, then go for it. Getting tattooed aint’ easy and to be honest with you, if I had known that you can get something like this that will help, then I would have used it myself! Dont say that Tattoos are painful at the best of times and everybody’s pain threshold is different, so yeah go for it, it ain’t a bravery test, it’s a tattoo so why not aid yourself the best way you can. Oh and FYI, I don’t believe anybody that says that they ‘enjoy’ or find the pain ‘pleasurable’… Who find that kinda pain sexy? We do, the pain makes the mind zone out. KMT,

Lol listen I have always said, it isn’t if you enjoy the pain, it is if you can bear it and in the end, a piece of your mind on your body is the objective. So lets not front, if you need numbing cream, bloody well use it! Lol, you went to carnival this year drinking moet, lol did you have fun? HAHAHAAAA, yes carnival, don’t forget the ever present Alize! That’s the only time of year I drink it and it definitely served its purpose this time round! I usually go both days but due to a family wedding, only reached on the Monday and lord was it fun! There must have been about 15/18 of us the linked up and rolled out, drinking, taking pics, behaving like fools and it was one of the best carnivals that I have been too as I manage to drag out people that don’t normally go. Danced along side the floats and saw a lot of my people who were up to no good, misbehaving and generally bending over any female with a pulse and getting the whine on, so yeah definitely good times!! Shit, it sounds like you did have a good time, what was the maddest thing that you seen there? Ermmmm, if I am perfectly honest with you, I didn’t see anything mad per say but it’s the NASTINESS that I cant work with and turns my belly. I left carnival around 6 and from All Saints Road (Volcano Sound of course!) I walked or rather speed-walked to Holland Park, alone and thankfully sober and

MEMBERS PAGE what made me sick were the (unfortunately) females just wandering around barefoot… I always support whats right but you know what… That wasn’t, its just not on. Lol, crazy bare foot bitch’s, what music are you feeling right now? Music, music, music… I have got a few great loves, 90’s Hip Hop and bashment being the biggest. I am a massive fan of Biggie and I mean MASSIVE! I love dancehall too, 90’s/2000 brings back a lot of memories and my favourites Kartel, Adionia and I Octane… that is music that I would listen to in my car but at home or alone time is a different story and then it’s a Lebanese violinist called Claude Chaloub and an Irish folk singer called Loreena McKennitt, Algerian Rai music, Indian music… The list can go on, DIVERSITY BABY! But the one music I am not a fan of is house…. In any shape or form and just because everybody else listens to it, it doesn’t mean I have to! we know that you like to party,, what is the best club that you have been to and why? This is a question and a half to answer… I cannot say that any one club has been better than another but what I truly believe in are the people that you are with, that makes all the difference. In fact, I can be anywhere and I mean anywhere but if I am with my people, we catch joke and have a good time same way. One of the prettiest clubs has to be in Athens, it was an open air terrace that was far away from all the commercial night life and played soulful house (of which I am NOT a fan), all you could see was the person next to you, the hundreds of candles, the stars in the sky and hear the tides going in and out of the Mediterranean sea…

truly amazing… Listen to me, soppy cow! So not loud and mad like most of my weekends but it was a wicked experience. what do you think of PAPERCHASERS INK so far? I am a fan… Like I said earlier, I am really happy to see that there are other people out there appreciate and celebrate tattoos. It is a very visually impacting magazine and something that draws you in until you turn page after page and before you know it, you are at the end! Definitely looking forward to the next issue and to see what other tattoos there are and what the latest it… Very excited. so what is the next tattoo that you have planned to get? Next tattoo is probably going to be finishing off my sleeve on my left arm and then taking that onto my back. Essentially what I want is the top of my back covered almost like a the reverse of what a chest piece would be for a man… I don’t think that will take too long, middle of next year and then I am starting on a ‘sleeve’ for my right thigh… Fun times ahead! As for what, I like religious iconography, roses, stars and hearts and also cursive text, I am also looking to get a big dream catcher on the back of my left thigh so its just a case of making time. Thanks for talking with us

I've been waiting for that since the day after GTA 4 was released lol. So was we, what do you think of it so far? The game is dope and the amount of things available to do on there is good aswell. Have you hit the strip club yet? Damn right i went to the strip club that was my second stop after finding Grove St. Then it was off to find a prostitute in true GTA fashion. thats the way, so what character do you like the most? You know what i loved franklin at first just for the fact he was ghetto and i loved CJ in San Andreas

Trevor is crazy right? but as soon as i got to trevor he instantly became my favourite character. I think its the fact he don't give a fuck about anyone and anything and does what he likes! Thats true but he is still a fucked up dude, have you hit the tattoo shops yet to ink up your dudes? here is no need to ask about inking my characters up, i did that straight away as soon as it was unlocked. MEMBERS LETTER SENT INTO US BY LESLEY ROSE E FOLLOW M R ON TWITLETYEROSE @ M IS S L ES

recently featured at London Tattoo Convention in a group of Guest Models from Dark Arts Modelling Agency and to be honest it was a fantastic weekend.

I

I had great fun with everyone, tonnes of pictures were taken and I got to see a lot of girls I hadn't seen for a long time. However, never have I been more upset, disgusted and disrespected as I was a by the so called 'Senior Photographer' at 'Tattoo Life' Magazine. To be told that the likelihood of me being on the cover of a tattoo magazine was slim to none as she'd ‘photographed at least 2 or 3 darker models but they've never made it into the magazine' and then shown a 'spread' of a 'darker model' in an issue from 2 years ago that she'd done (this so called spread had the model (from a well known group) no bigger than 2 inches by 4 in the top corner) with her then saying 'I've lightened her up there don't

and say 'tattoos look better on lighter skin anyway' is outright Racist.

This was nothing to do with my level of ability as a model, nor was it based on the amount of tattoos I currently have or my level of 'fame' in the industry. All of the above comments were made in relation to the colour of my skin and 'Susana Vestige' (as i've been told is her name) is someone that 'Tattoo Life' seriously needs to reconsider having on their staff if she is going to represent them in such a disgusting way. She has them listed worry i can (under Susana Clark) lighten you as her primary too', was employer on LinkedIn then and to me and all other followed by models including those a laugh. who support me fully on Darker social media her models do behaviour is disgusting not NEED to and as horrific be lightened, WITH PHONIX JAY representation of the nor do they brand. WANT to be, and for her to say such a People like this are the reason disgusting thing to me is why women of colour don't push completely out of order. Not forward in this industry for fear of only this, but she then being knocked down. Watch this followed with comments space. I can assure you that you about people with 'lighter will see my face out there and I skin tend to get tattooed will rub her face in every feature more anyway.' and cover I get. I feel that the people employed with 'Tattoo Life' need to do a copious Let us know what you think of amounts of research as to Lesley’s letter and what happend the actual origin of tattoos on the website or on our before they say such facebook, twitter. ludicrous things. To go on

SUPERHEROSE INK WE HAVE A LOOK AT SOME COMIC BOOK TATTOOS e love comic books over here, from Dc to Marvel and all the rest so we go a bit crazy when we see tattoos of the superheroses that we used to read as a kid, sitting there for hours reading comics is just like reading a book, when you get into them it will take your mind into that world.

W

If you dont like reading comic books then ‘fuck you’ lol, you dont know what your missing.

From all the pics that we found out there, its easy to see that people from all over the world have a passion for comic books and the art and its not just the people who saw all the new batman films, there are so many people with comic book tattoos it was hard to pick what one’s to show you, dont get us wrong we did find alot of shit ones but lets not talk about them fucked up ones but to be real, they was funny to look at, lol.
