What made you start getting tat­ toos?

I've always admired heavily tattooed people, I never thought I would have this many but i guess i just got caught up and just kept collecting. My first tattoo was at the age of 18, and I loved it so much, but I was scared at first to get to many to quick because you always won­ der what people will think but after a while I didn't care what people thought and I still don't lol. I started off by getting smaller tattoo's that could be hidden.

Once I decided to get my first full sleeve I loved it so much my passion grew and now I cant stop.

When did you get your first piece of work?

I got My first tattoo at the age of 18 which was a classic tribal pattern which is on the bottom of my back, but unfortu­ nately I am getting this removed as i'm wanting a full back piece now. I had my friend design my first as I never pick from a book.

What do your family think of your ink?

My family, love them both. Both my mum and brother have a few of their own, but not like me, I took it to the next level :).

My mum has always said she's fine with them as long as they don't touch my face .but I cant promise I wont lol.

What Advice Would You Give?

Do your research and get the right artist for you. Know what you want and never look for a cheap option, always go for the best, after all it is on you for life.

What are you going to get done next?

I ve actually already got my next one booked, a Chola [Mex­ ican Gangster Girls face] on the side of my head What do you think of paperchasers ink magazine?

I have full leg, arm and chest coverage and the odd few cheeky ones but individually the collection counts up to over 60 tattoos and I'm not done yet.

TATTOO KARLO In this music issue of Paperchasers Ink we bring you up and coming music artist tattoo Karlo he is kind of new to the music game but been getting tattoos before he ever picked up a microphone, and is still better than some of the rappers who are known out there and the music videos for (LIFE OF THE INK) and (UNDER THE NEEDLE) are bangers and are a must watch.

City people live like as long as they love tattoos! As you can see Karlo has been hard at work getting inked up over the years and thanks to his artists he has some crazy tattoos to show, so far on my journey into the tattoo world Karlo is the first person I have met with ink work done on the palms of both hands, on one hand the peace sign and on the other I s a heart, I think that's deep and am feeling that, Am sure that i will be meeting more people with tattoos on the palms but Karlos is going to be hard to beat .

You can see the video (UNDER THE NEEDLE) of him getting that done.

You can see from his tattoos that Karlo only fucks with professional artists that are good at there job and time and thought has been put in to make all of the ink flow together.

From the belly to the face it all fits in place like he was born with it.

I know that he lives the life of the ink for real and the people that he has around him are just as dedicated.

Karlo is definitely one to watch out for as he will be back to feature again and we are definitely forward to see how his music is going and what new ink he has.

CROOK STREET MEET THE TEAM THAT ARE INTO MUSIC JUST AS MUCH AS INK SOUTH LONDON RAP GROUP When you think of music artists in the UK that are making real good music and are on this Ink thing, the name Crook Street better come up..

When we was putting the list of people that we want to feature in the first issue of the mag, we had to get Crook Street to get started. They have been doing there thing for years in the music game and if your from South London then you have seen them on the roads or at shows pushing there music.

I meet alot of people who have Ink and everyone has there own resons for getting inked up, Art was telling me that the team are not on the Ink thing cos they make rap music , but its more to do with the history of tattooing in Africa and I was feeling that. They are 100% into tattoos for the art of the ink and thats a good look.

Art and Sky­I are inked up! These guys are running out of space to get more tattoos and Ceize is on the way as well. We will catch up with them in a couple of months to see what new Ink they get.

Even if your not into the music scene and your thing is tattoos, you will or have seen any of the team at tattoo conventions up and down the country, rocking the Crook Street t­shirts and banging out the mixtapes, in the UK. When you think of tattoo conventions some of the first things that come to mind is bikers, goths or some shit along those lines so it good to see people from the urban community going and getting love. Thats one of the reasons why we are showing them love and getting them in the mag not cos they are black with tats and from the hood, its cos they are apart of the tattoo community and have been for years!

CHANTELLE BROWN TATTOO FAN CHANTELLE SHOWS US WHATS GOOD Step by step Chantel e gets more ink. She came down to our promo photo shoot that we had months ago and we got some crazy shots of her that that we used for our facebook campaign. We had to get her back as we did not get to interview her. So we got her back down so we can do it all over again for the first issue.

She has been busy featuring in some music videos like (JEDI's tattoos and piercings) and doing some modeling and photo shoots. See thats what we like to see good things happening when you get tattoos!! Make what you have work for you in a positive way and Chantelle is all about that.

She does not have as many tattoos as some of our other readers but she is always thinking about her next piece of Ink, when we see her. She wants to get a lot more work done and we like to see it. She is work in progress.

Look in our gallery and you can see all the photos that we took of Chantelle at our promo photo shoot and we have more photos of her from this issue as well so make sure you have a look.

Am sure that we will see more of Chantelle working with the magazine on some projects and make sure that you add her on Twitter, she tweets all day, lol and always has something to say.

We always get good photos of Chantelle as she is very easy to work with and it helps that she is always up for the ideas that we have and is always happy to participate. Working with good people makes our job easy! Meaning we can get great photos for the magazine and thats the way we like to work!

LEAH WILLIAMS Ink fan leah comes down and Shows us her tattoos

Leah is the first of our readers to write and send in a article to us, to get a feature in the magazine and on top of that she interviewed Paralympics wheelchair basketball player Gaz Choudhry who played for team UK this year at the Olympics you can see her article on the news page.

She has got some nice bits of work done and she also just got a dream catcher tattoo done on her leg, the night before the photo shoot for the magazine, she only had the outline done when we saw her but its going to look good when its all done.

Leah has a real passion for the art of tattooing and her tattoos have deep meanings to her. Which is something we love to hear at Paperchasers Ink. People have a story to tell through there ink, see her interview with Fivestar Firmz, they get into it and talk more about her tattoos and she tells us what ink means to her.

How did you like the photo shoot?

I was very excited too be asked to have a shoot for Paperchasers Ink. I had seen the website and couldn t wait to meet more tatted people. I got their and already the studio was buzzing. Being shot was Karlo, His ink was immense I was already jealous and felt quite naked and wish a tattoo artist was their to add more to me !!

I was healing from the tattoo on my leg, I had had the night before the shoot but it was beginning to get busy.

I then met the photographer who ended up being a childhood friend YOHANIS , so felt comfortable. More familiar faces started to show up, Fivestar Firmz and Chantelle and I soon realised how small the tattoo family is.

A lot of my tats are hidden so at first I was worried about having to shoot, to show them. The team made me feel very comfortable and relaxed and cleared the room for me to do my pics.

I then heard the best news of the day. Snakes were coming for us to shoot with. Everyone who knows me knows I m obsessed with snakes. A lot of others were scared. Not me I couldn t wait. The snakes were brought in and straight away I held the Pythons they were gorgeous. I loved having photos with them and enjoyed the shoot. I met a lot of great people and had an amazing time with the team. I got to have shoots, meet snakes and get interviewed. It s not an addiction its I enjoyed the day very much and fell in love with all the skin art around me. I did have a massive problem......I now have about 20 more tats that I want due to all the inspiration through the day!!

MEET THE MUSIC ARTIST WHO LOVES INK LIKE US I Wondered when you first decided to get your first tattoo?

What made you choose to do the piece on your back?

My 1st temptation to the world of ink was when I was 16! That was when I first started becoming dedicated to music, studying it, recording, writing, etc. so I wanted to really show my dedication with my 1st tattoo which is "Music" in Japanese on my stomach. I just felt like it was something I had to do!

The piece on my back kinda morphed from a tattoo I had when I was 17 (bottom of my spine) and the section I had on my shoulders at 21. To me, it rep­ resents my "life tree". so when I feel like I've grown spiritually, mentally or soulfully, I will continue to develop it. I've always loved the tribal designs, so I sat down with my tattooist and got him to freestyle like it was a tribal tree (but obviously not ACTUAL­ LY wanting to have a tree on me!). I consider my­ self to be more of bold statement character, so all

brows maybe? but that's more on the "beauty" tip, as opposed to real ink. I tend to get happy with the tweezers too often, leaving me looking overly p*ssed off, or Oh gosh, I LOVE tattoos! it's now shocked without choice! at the point of needing to fill the gaps!! my next tattoo will be a Would you let anyone sleeve i've decided, I want this one to be more "cultural" to give it tattoo you? a name. but still sticking to my As in Joe Bloggs that I don't darker colours/ earth tones, and know? hell no!! I wanna see hy­ more shading, just to get variety. giene certificates, previous work I am planning to cover a lot of my and credits etc! If its gonna be on body, not as far as all up my neck my skin for life, I cannot be doing etc, as I still want to keep some with any blunders! I don't mind form of "soft" to my image, if that new artists, as we all have to is possible? haha! But yes, once start somewhere, but I would at my sleeve(s) are complete, I will least want to have the comfort of be going down the rest of my knowing that i'm not going to get body! Different themes for differ­ butchered, blood poisoned or ent body parts. randomly doodled on!

How into tattoos are you, i mean do you plan to cover your whole body?

Is there anywhere you wouldn t get done?

As mentioned before, I think all up my neck wouldn't quite be ap­ propriate as its a bit harsh for me I think... and obviously my face following suit...! well, my eye­

Would you ever accept payment to have adver­ tising inked on you?

Erm, I guess it depends what/who it is really? For exam­ ple, my favourite clothing brand is Religion, and I LOVE their logo

(its a praying skeleton) so I would happily have that tatted on me!

Plus I love the brand in general, as they are quite unique, and have their own style. But with an­ ything else, I'd want to know the background of the company ethi­ cally, so no dodgy dealings, no hidden slave trade, etc. It'd have to be a brand I see benefit in and use. unless it was for ­ say, ap­ ple... not really feeling an apple on me!

Do you use numbing cream? Lol yes i know!

I haven't so far!! And I say so far, as I want to get my sides done ­ and I can't even deal with some­ one touching my sides! let along dragging a bunch of needles on them...! And I'm also thinking of the fact that I flinch ridiculously when someone goes there, so the tattoo would be a mess with me jerking around all over the place! So maybe. but only for there I think. oh, and inner thighs I'd have to too.

How do you think your tattoos re­ flect you?

I think they pretty much are all "me" as such... They are a blend of music, mystic and bold, which is pretty much me in gener­ al. And well, my dragon on my chest ­ I'll call that mystic as opposed to saying I'm a dragon!! Although I'd LOVE a flame thrower at times!

About the day Did you enjoy your day with us?

Absolutely! It was wicked to be around others that are like­minded! plus getting ideas for more tattoos! definitely enjoyed myself and watch­ ing the shoots!

Did you have fun do­ ing the pow­ der shots?

Ha ha! yeah for sure! it went everywhere though! i think my bra had enough to bake a cake in there!! and the shots looked amazing for everyone!

What did you think about the snakes?

Well, I've always wanted a snake for years, but never really had time to spend with one, but after falling in love with that over­ ly cute Albino, I now HAVE to have one!! Apparently that very snake is due to have babies in summer, so I will be getting a baby! (already named it "Milkshake"!)

What do you think of the magazine?

I think it's brilliant, and exactly what we need! There are a lot of tattoo magazines out there, but they lack culture. And I feel with music, culture and tattoo art be­ ing intertwined is a perfect idea! Espe­ cially as it pretty much sums me up as a person! I fully respect all the hard work put into the magazine and will definitely be sup­ porting and pro­ moting the movement!
