Can’t get enough of die-cutting? Try these six designs, featured in this month’s free gift! If you’re feeling in need of a crafty cardmaking session, dig out your box of dies and use some basic shapes to make this pretty array of greetings by Keren Baker and Katie Skilton. If you’re a beginner die cutter, dive into your free 100-page supplement and you’ll be addicted in no time!

YOU WILL NEED: Craft essentials (see p92) Dies: nesting circles, decorative circles, square, feather, hexagons, words Chipboard frame Vellum Buttons

Geometric butterfly By Keren Baker

1

Cover a 10.5cm x 15.5cm white blank with geometric triangle paper, leaving a narrow border. Die cut one circle from white card and a slightly larger one from vellum. Fix the smaller disc to the blank then add the vellum layer on top with a small dab of glue in the centre.

2

3

Cover a chipboard disc with triangle paper and fix this to the centre of the circle, with a gold butterfly and sentiment on top.

Happy birthday By Keren Baker

1

Mount white card onto a 12.5cm x 15.5cm pink blank, leaving a narrow border. Die cut five circles from white and patterned papers. Separate the whole circles from their thin outlines. Using the picture as a guide, adhere the circles to the card. Arrange the four outline circles around the edges so they overlap the white layer. Die cut ‘Happy’ from pink card and secure onto a white circle. Mount this onto the blank using 3D foam pads. Stamp ‘Birthday’ in grey ink onto the card, then trim into a strip and stick below the first sentiment. Add sequins to finish.

2 3

“When working with vellum, stick embellishments over any adhesive so the glue doesn’t show through” KEREN BAKER, DESIGNER 16

TO P T I P

Before securing dies down, stick your tape strips onto fabric first to remove some of their tackiness

Hello hexagons By Keren Baker

1

Tape hexagon dies onto an 11cm x 15.5cm panel of yellow chevron card and run through your die-cutting machine. Adhere the panel to a slightly larger white blank. Die cut more hexagons from patterned papers, then insert the shapes into their corresponding holes. Cut three different-sized hexagons from white card and two ‘Hello’ sentiments from white and pink. Offset the white word behind the pink one, then mount onto the largest hexagon.

2 3

4

Add an orange strip of paper below the wording, then mount to the card using 3D foam pads. Fix the other white hexagons below the largest, add an orange strip, then glue another to a background shape to finish.

New home By Katie Skilton

1

Matt and layer red card and patterned paper onto a brown kraft blank. Fix a smaller panel of wood effect paper on top. Die cut a square from a yellow card rectangle. Stick a house motif to the wood effect paper then fix

2

the yellow frame on top with 3D foam pads. Wrap red ribbon around the base of the yellow panel. Trim a ‘New home’ sentiment into a pennant and fix to the ribbon. Add a red ribbon bow on top. Embellish the card with heart and flower die-cuts.

card

f January’s drearily dull weather and darker, shorter days are wearing thin, shine bright with this cheerful rainbow sunburst card. It’s ideal for using up colourful scraps of paper and card and it doesn’t require any fancy shaped dies either – you could even use the handy nesting dies from last issue of PaperCrafter. This greeting will make anyone smile!

You’ll love Colette Smith’s latest lesson in colourful cardmaking YOU WILL NEED: Craft essentials (see p92) Circle nesting dies Promarkers: pink, orange, yellow, lime, turquoise, purple Sentiment stamp

Step one

Lightly draw around the inside of a small circle die onto a 10.5cm x 15cm piece of white card. Draw lines coming out from the circle in each direction and cut out alternate sections.

Step two

Using the cut card as a template, draw around the shape onto another piece of white card. Colour in the sections that can be seen between the white rays. Layer the white front onto the coloured card and trim the edges so that the panel measures 10cm x 14.5cm.

Step three

Matt the panel onto a 10.5cm x 15cm blank with 3D foam tape. Stamp a sentiment, cut out with a small circle die and matt onto a larger die-cut black shape. Stick to the centre of the white panel and add gems to finish.
