SWEET TREAT TUBES 1 Cut a 2cm wide piece of patterned paper and use to cover a 2cm wide strip of card, leaving a 1cm excess along one long edge. Wrap the strip around a cylinder, letting it overlap by 1cm and glue to make a tube.
2 Trim a circle of card with the same diameter as the cylinder. Clip the paper overlap into a fringe, fold in on itself and attach the circle over the top. Join a slightly smaller card disc on the inside of the container. Make a second container in the same way. 3 Snip a piece of acetate up to 12cm square so there is enough to match the
diameter of the container with a slight overlap. Roll into a tube and secure. 4 Glue one end of the tube into the base of one container, allowing it to dry completely before filling it with treats. Place the second container on the other end as a lid. Decorate with ribbons, motifs or punched shapes.
3
RETRO EGGS 1 Cover thin card with patterned paper and using your free template, trace the egg onto the reverse and cut out. Use a needle to make a series of holes along the long edges of the eggs, making sure there are the same amount of holes along each side. 2 Fold the score lines and use three strands of embroidery thread to oversew the sides of the eggs together. Do this by knotting the thread on the inside and working from the base to the top on each side.

his impressive make is just what you need to spruce up a baby's room. Not only will this mobile look lovely, but the slowly spinning shapes are sure to have a soporific effect too. The designs are easily achieved using Sizzix dies, making this creation much quicker and easier than you might first imagine. We've hung our mobile from a twig wreath for a warm, rustic look, but a large embroidery or lamp shade hoop would work just as well.
“When piecing the mobile together, stand it on something high such as a box so that the twine sections hang and don’t get tangled” KATIE SKILTON, DESIGNER

Chipboard Twine Twig wreath Distress ink
1 Die cut twelve owl fronts from co-ordinating patterned papers. Treat the edges of each section with distress ink and piece together. Cut twelve more owls from chipboard and adhere to the back of the paper ones. 2 Die cut five moon and star fronts from paper and ink the edges. Cut the same from chipboard and stick together as before. 3 Tie twine across a twig wreath, taking it from left to right and then from top to bottom to make a cross. Hang a further length of twine in the centre of the cross and glue a moon and stars set to it. 4 Hang lengths of string at the top, bottom, left and right where the current twine is tied on the wreath. Glue three owls to each. Die cut 12 owl backs and attach one to each bird. 5 Fix another four lengths of twine onto the wreath between the current lengths for the owls, dividing it into eight pieces.

6 Attach a moon and stars set to each one. Cut backs for the moons and stars and adhere. Add a hanging loop to finish.

creating roses Fold and roll your way to a floral masterpiece
T
hese gorgeous cards, made by our very own Elizabeth Moad, are ideal girlie greetings for a sophisticated lady. Here, you will learn how to master folded and rolled roses, so you can expand your crafting repertoire and bring an exciting new element to your makes. You only need narrow strips of paper to create these luscious blooms, so they're also great for clearing out your stash.
RING A ROSES Folded and rolled roses are some of the prettiest things you can make with paper. They're extremely effective as either the focus of a project or a pretty embellishment. Once you've learned the technique, you'll find that you can create roses quickly and easily, and the more you practise, the faster you'll get.
TRY A TECHNIQUE The difference between the two flowers displayed here is that folded

roses use a narrow strip of paper which is creased and turned to create the bloom. Rolled roses however involve cutting a circle of paper into a spiral and coiling it into a flower. The folded type take a little longer but are well worth the effort. The fabulousness of these creations is that they're cheap to make and you won't find anything like them on the high street.

Quilling tool Brads
ROMANTIC ROSES 1 Write or print 'Thank you' onto a 6cm green circle of card, mount onto a 10cm x 13cm rectangle of parchment paper and attach to red card with four brads. Make folded red roses in varying sizes using the guide on the right. 2 Form loose closed coils out of 3mm
wide green paper strips, then pinch the ends to make leaf shapes. Change between lengths of 10cm and 15cm to alter the size. Attach these with the roses to the green circle.
FASHIONISTA FLOWERS 1 Cut two bags and one handle from dark pink card using the online template. Round the bag edges and fix the two together at the top, then attach the handle. 2 Trim a disc of parchment paper, and cut into the circle in a spiral to the centre. Use a quilling tool to coil the piece, starting at the outer end of the spiral and working back to the centre. Let the coil unwind a little, then glue. 3 Make two more rolled roses and stick to the bag. Create three leaf shapes, fringe the edges and fix in place. Print or write 'Happy birthday' on a card tag and attach with ribbons.

1 Take a 10mm wide strip of red paper and snip one end to become narrower. This is the centre of the flower. Coil the paper for 1.5cm using a quilling tool
2 Fold the paper away from you at a diagonal angle so the paper ends up parallel to the tool. Turn the quilling tool, lifting up the paper as you turn so it becomes horizontal. Make another fold and repeat

1 Cut a red shoe using the template from our website. Colour the heel and sole with a felt pen to make them slightly darker. Mount the shoe onto a pink blank using foam pads. 2 Make folded roses from pink papers and attach to the shoe and base of the card. Add open coils made from light green paper. 3 Mount a ‘Happy birthday’ sticker to a tag and fix to the top right of the card. Add two ribbon bows to the shoe and one to the tag.

HOT HEELS
MAKE SURE TO TRY SOME PRACTICE FLOWERS WITH SCRAP PAPER BEFORE THE REAL THING. MOST PEOPLE FIND THEIR FIRST ATTEMPTS ARE ROLLED TOO TIGHT
3 Continue folding and turning the paper until the rose is the size you want. Glue the end in place. Tighter buds use shorter lengths of paper and fuller blooms need longer lengths
