The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, the regulator of financial services in the UK, started using a digital credentialing platform as part of its new online qualification. The FCA needed a way to track and validate learner progress, and measure the effectiveness of the course.

The FCA worked with Credly to create digital badges for each level in the course, along with a certificate that can be shared on LinkedIn. Learners receive a badge once they pass the exam associated with each level.

"We wanted to give our learners a better experience,” said Richard Prowle, senior manager at FCA Investment Management Qualification (IMQ). “It’s

important that people feel proud of their achievements and have some way to showcase them."

Now that they’ve gone digital, more than 500 learners have received their badges since the program launched in January 2016.

"We are finding learners are more motivated with this approach," said Prowle.

"The number of people passing is up significantly."
