White Oak Bible Church Location: 7 miles South of Akeley on Highway 64 Mailing Address: 30908 170th St., Akeley, MN 56433 Church: 218-652-3848 Pastor: Jake Nelson 218-591-5957 Website: www.whiteoakbiblechurch.com Email: jake_nelson31@yahoo.com SUNDAY SERVICES: Adult Sunday School: year round at 9:00 a.m. Worship Service: 10:00 a.m. Mission Statement: Equipping the saints and reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ--to the glory of God. Pancake Breakfast: 1st Sunday of every month: 8:30-9:30 a.m. What to Expect on Sundays Here at White Oak, we believe and teach the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ: that Jesus lived a sinless life, died an atoning death on the cross for the sins of His people, rose again from the dead victorious over sin, ascended into heaven in triumph, is seated at the right hand of the Father, has all authority in heaven and earth, is conquering the nations to Himself as we speak, and will continue to do so till the knowledge of the Lord covers the earth like the waters cover the sea. We believe and teach that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to the Scriptures alone, to the glory of God alone. -We preach theologically reformed, expository sermons through entire books of the Bible (chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse). Whatever 14
passage we’re looking at, we examine the historical and literary context, and then apply it to our lives today. -We sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs unto the praise of God. Our desire is to be theologically rich and gospel-focused in our worship. -We fellowship with one another before and after the service--stirring one another on to love and good works. We also have a pancake breakfast before the service on the first Sunday of the month, and a potluck lunch after the service on the third Sunday of the month. We believe that sharing meals with one another is a means that God uses to cultivate comradery with one another. -We observe communion after the service on the first Sunday of every month. Though this consists of one small sip, and one small bite, it is a feast for our souls and a genuine blessing in our sanctification when done in faith and “in remembrance of Him” --the Lord Jesus. -Our services are fully family-integrated (children stay in the service from start to finish). As a church, we believe it is Scriptural for entire families to worship the Lord together. With that said, be rest assured, there is much grace for fidgety children. Also, we have a fellowship hall (with audio speaker) available if children need to be taken out of the service for a time. Through all this, our desire is to worship God with reverence and to bring glory to Jesus Christ. If you are able to join us this Sunday, it would be our joy to worship the Lord with you.

Bad Medicine Lake
Chapel Of The Good Creation Location: 17 miles North of Park Rapids on Hwy. 71. Left on Hwy 113 for 11 miles. Left on East Bad Medicine Road 2 miles to Bad Medicine Resort & Campground Non-Denominational Services Worship Service: 11:00 a.m. Sundays (when possible, call to verify dates) Services Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Weekend Phone: 218-573-3790 Website: www.badmedicineresort.com A need for summer church services on Bad Medicine Lake began in the 1960s, when our lake became a growing community. These summer church services at Bad Medicine Lake were originated by Rev. Oscar Anderson, president of Augsburg College in Minneapolis from 1963 to 1980. In 1963, at the suggestion of a neighbor, Oscar held a church service at his cabin on Bad Medicine Lake. The idea proved popular, and for the first years, services were held on a rotating basis at cabins around the lakeshore. However, as attendance grew, space and parking became a problem. Bad Medicine Resort had the parking facilities and docks for the boats. We first met on the lakeshore of the resort in 1972-73. Then Don and Carolyn Tschudi built a large hall at their resort, and services were moved indoors. Our congre-
16
gation grew and grew, as ministers also came to our lake and built homes here. Pastor Oscar Anderson gave our chapel its name, Chapel of the Good Creation. Every summer, on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. *(when possible, call to verify dates) from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. services are held at the Chapel of the Good Creation at Bad Medicine Resort. Services are nondenominational, but reflect the largely Scandinavian Lutheran background of this region. The Chapel of the Good Creation has no regular pastor and depends upon our local ministers and lake residents to donate their time to conduct services. At the end of each service, local residents take turns hosting a coffee time. As in the parable of the “Loaves and Fishes,” more than enough cookies and bars always seem to appear to accompany coffee, soft drinks and socializing. The Chapel is hosted by Don Tschudi and Helen Holmer. The Chapel is now incorporated with a nonprofit status. We are blessed with many retired ministers and resident speakers taking turns leading the services. Bad Medicine Resort is celebrating over 60 years of ownership. All services are open to the public and visitors are always welcome.

First English Lutheran Church of Dorset (Missouri Synod)
What is TRUTH? As we search for “truth” more often these days, a reminder that Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6). First English Lutheran Church also known as the “Little Stone Church of Dorset” was built in 1936. Congregational members brought field stones to form “living stones” built into a spiritual House of God. “You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor.” (1 Peter 2:4). We are a Confessional Lutheran Church, which means: • We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, completely holy and free from error; • We believe scripture interprets scripture as we learn God’s Word; • We believe what scripture teaches of who we are as fallen human beings; • We believe every person is conceived and born in sin; • We believe because of sin, we are baptized into Christ through His death and resurrection; • We believe in the six day creation and the order of creation; • We believe God’s true body and blood are present in the Holy Sacrament for the forgiveness of sin and the strengthening of our faith; • We believe when our Lord Jesus Christ says to repent, He wills our entire life as Christians to be one of repentance. We therefore believe God’s Word actually • does what it says; when we hear his Word, when His Gospel’s promises are delivered, we know the Lord is working through us, delivering His Gifts, forgiving us and giving us eternal life. We teach the Word of God in all its truth and purity in order that all may live fuller and godly lives. We seek to bring God’s Word to all people so they may share His grace, the gifts of forgiveness and eternal life. 18

ABOUT HUBBARD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH The Hubbard United Methodist Church is a growing, inclusive, welcoming Christ-centered community of faith that makes a joyful noise to the Lord and serves the Lord with gladness. Our church embodies a spirit of warm welcome to all who enter its doors and is blessed to be a diverse faith community. On any given Sunday, you can find people of many different denominations all worshiping together as brothers and sisters in Christ. Each Sunday morning the pastor and parishioners greet members, friends and newcomers with joy and the refrain, “It’s a great day on the Hubbard Prairie” is often heard during this greeting time. Members of the church live their faith by displaying enthusiasm, encouragement, generosity and concern for others in fellowship activities, community involvement, mission support, and worship. We support several local missions, as well as raising money to provide water wells in Africa and other ministries too numerous to name here. This vitality warms the winter months and blossoms during the spring and summer as members, friends and visitors return to expand our congregation on Sunday mornings.

In 1948, a small group of dedicated souls joined together to form Trinity Lutheran Church. Strong in spirit and grounded in Scripture, we are members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. We are located right on Highway 71, near the west end of Lake George. Since our beginning, several pastors have served us with their knowledge and inspiration from the Word of God. Pastor Philip Houser is currently serving our parish. Our parish participates in numerous benefits for local folks with various needs each year. We are also involved in a mission project in Haiti where a church, a school and a medical clinic are being built. Some of our families have “adopted” Haitian

students and are paying for their schooling. Our ladies actively participate in the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League by making quilts and are involved in many other activities. Each fall our annual “Hunters Supper” attracts many locals and visitors alike to a home-cooked turkey dinner. We believe it is the will of our Lord Jesus Christ that His disciples should preach the Gospel to the whole world; that Christ’s mission for His church might be carried out according to His will; and that Christians unite in worship, practice fellowship with one another, witness to all men, help each other to grow in the Word and see the needs of all men in Christian love. The Christian family is alive and flourishing in our congregation. We extend an invitation to join us each Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. for Divine Service. We especially look forward to meeting and welcoming folks vacationing in our area. A coffee/roll fellowship time follows the Sunday morning service. During the school year, Sunday School begins at 10:30 a.m. with a time of lessons and songs.

The volunteers of St. Catherine’s welcome and appreciate your assistance and support of our program. However you choose to assist us, be it physically, prayerfully, finding priests or financially, we thank you.
St. Catherine’s Catholic Church is located adjacent to Itasca State Park’s north entrance near the Mississippi Headwaters and it stands as a symbol of Christianity in the area. Constructed by Father Fraling in 1941, using recycled materials, its unique, stucco exterior and distinctive, green steeple appear stately against the towering pines. The interior stucco, with ornate stenciling in natural berry colors, creates a beautiful place for worship. The acoustics within the church are exceptional. The church closed in 1997, due to lack of priests. In 1999, a small local volunteer group developed a program to provide a nearly free vacation including housing with internet and cable TV, bicycles and access to Itasca State Park in exchange for celebrating Sunday Mass. Beginning in 2000, we have successfully filled Sundays with vacationing priests from throughout the U.S. They, along with all our visiting parishioners, have enjoyed the many delightful experiences of Itasca State Park.

From that time the church has worked very hard at remaining relevant to the many changes in our society. Presently we feel that we exist in this community to: Experience, Explore, and Expect. 1. We provide opportunities for people to Experience God. 2. We Explore what it means to be a Biblical Christian in today’s world. 3. We Expect God to reveal Himself in practical ways in our lives. Individually, and as a corporate church body, our great desire is to impact everyone for Jesus Christ. Regardless of age, status, race, socioeconomic standing, denomination, or any other differentiating factor, Jesus commanded us in Mark 16:15 to “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” It is the responsibility and privilege of every Christian 28
to carry out this great commission. Our passion has been to allow the Holy Spirit to mold our church and to make it a place of worship that would be relevant to our culture, and attractive to those seeking a church home here in this area. Although the purpose of all Christian churches is to see people enter into a personal relationship with Jesus, each church has a different personality and unique communication style with which they accomplish this goal. PRAG’s Sunday morning worship service is conducted in a way that is meant to be meaningful to those who currently have a committed relationship with Jesus, and to those who are just beginning to explore the Christian faith. Biblical forms of worship are modeled. We attempt to be sensitive to those who may not be familiar with the charismatic style of worship. We experience the presence of God as we sing songs and hymns that are both lively, expressive and jubilant, and those that are meditative and prayerful. Our prayer is that each person comes into contact and has an experience with our living God. We understand that each individual moves along their faith journey at a different pace, and as we allow it, God brings about change through the Holy Spirit as He reveals truth in His time. Our sermons are designed to be practical as we draw from the Scripture to inspire growth and change in every area of our life. We attempt to communicate in a way that is easily understood by all. Everyone is invited to move into a personal relationship with Jesus, and to walk in obedience to His ways. We encourage you to be a part of what God is doing at Park Rapids Assemblies of God Church.

Our name Faithbridge points to the wonderful truth of God’s grace and love for us in bridging the great separation between man and God through Jesus’ death on the Cross (1 Timothy 2:5-6). At the Cross, Jesus took the punishment of our sin on Himself and died in our place. Jesus invites us to leave our self-directed life behind and enter a relationship with Him through placing our faith in Him to forgive us, live within us, and give us His gift of life. A phrase you often hear at Faithbridge is “We are the Church, We Love God, and We Love Others.” Our goal is to build genuine relationships that transform us into the men and women that God created us and calls us to be!

What can I expect at First Baptist Church? We are a church that emphasizes the Word of God. Our songs are saturated with Scripture, and we generally sing hymns and newer doctrine-rich songs. Most of the service is hearing the Word read and following along while the Bible is preached. The desire is to enable people to have an understanding of the Scripture so that when they are reading it at home, the Holy Spirit can make the needed changes in those who have already been changed by the Gospel. Thus, we are a people who believe that the Holy Spirit uses the Holy Word to make holy people more like Jesus Christ. 32
What kind of church are you? First Baptist Church is an independent Baptist Church that preaches and teaches the Bible. We emphasize holy living (1 Peter 1:1516), care for one another (John 13:34), evangelization (Mark 16:15), and the cultivation of personal spiritual growth (1 Peter 2:2). We are a conservative church interested in seeing people come to know Jesus as Saviour, and in helping those who are believers to become more like Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29). The Gospel (“Good News”) “Before you can get Good News, you have to hear Bad News. The bad news is that everyone has sinned against a holy God. We have all sinned at least once in life (telling a lie, coveting, dishonoring our parents, etc). Because of this, we deserve punishment from God. But the Good News is that God loved mankind so much that He sent Jesus to die for sins. He took the punishment that we deserve so we could be forgiven and declared righteous. That’s not just good news, it’s Great News! Anyone who places their trust in Jesus’s death on the cross will be saved: “By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works.” (Eph 2:8-9) No baptism or good works can save us; we must trust in the sacrifice of Christ.”

ness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy” (1 Peter 2:910). We believe this can be true of anyone who comes to God through His Son Jesus, and so we are motivated to tell others about our God and the life that He offers. We worship the Lord with great joy. He is worthy of our praise. Jesus said, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” God first loved us and demonstrated that love in the gift of His only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Because of His love, God has enabled us to reach out to others in love. His love compels us. New Life is a “missions minded” church. We help Christians and ministries all over the world, from many different backgrounds and traditions. We also help and support local ministries and individuals. If you are weary of walking in the darkness, we invite you to join us in the light. God offers new life, to all who acknowledge His Son, Jesus, as Lord. Our History: In 1908 two Lutheran congregations in the Park Rapids area joined together to form St. Johns Lutheran. Located at 3rd and Court for the first 60 years of ministry, the congregation moved to its present location just west of town in 1965. Who we are: As a congregation of the Minnesota North District of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, we joyfully hold to the teachings of the 36
Bible as they are confessed in the Lutheran Confessions. We are a congregation of conservative Lutherans who have received grace and every blessing from our Savior. Our preaching is centered on Jesus Christ and Him crucified and raised for our redemption. We are joyous in our living, traditional in our worship, biblical and confessional in our teaching, and called to simply live as God’s people. We refer to our worship time as “Divine Service.” The main image behind that title is Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. We do not gather as Christians to “give God his due” as if He needs anything from us. Rather, we gather to receive from Him. Through Word and Sacrament, Jesus brings us the gifts He won for us at the cross: forgiveness, life, and salvation. With these gifts we are given strength for each day, love and forgiveness to share and hope for the future. To that end our worship is historic and liturgical, and designed to glorify God by rejoicing in His salvation. Outside the Divine Service, the education of all ages is very important. During the school year, we have Sunday school, release time and confirmation for the youth. For adults there are opportunities for Bible study Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. St. Johns also has youth programs, women’s groups, men’s group, music groups for adults and children, and many other opportunities for fellowship and service. We also offer the community ABC Preschool, a quality, Lutheran preschool.

The Catholic Community of St. Peter the Apostle was formed in 1887 to carry out the mission of the Lord Jesus, “Go and teach all people!” For well over one hundred years this community of faith, which finds its unity around the Table of the Lamb as it celebrates the Eucharist, has reached out to serve the spiritual and temporal needs of the people of the Park Rapids area. The mission of St. Peter the Apostle Parish is to help people know the compassionate, loving, forgiving God. While the Eucharist is the heart of the community’s life, the mission is carried out through Faith Formation, Religious Education, Youth Ministry and Outreach Ministry, along with the many other areas of apostolic life that make up the parish community. St. Peter the Apostle Parish warmly welcomes all those who come through the door, the door that leads a person to Jesus Christ, the focus of our faith. Through Christ we strive to meet the needs of the young, middle aged, seniors, the sick, lonely and those who are on the fringes of society. It is our desire to serve all, for in serving others, we serve Christ. We invite you to come and experience the Risen Lord in worship, service and community life. We are alive in the Spirit and rejoice in all that our God has blessed us with in Jesus Christ!

By the late 1950s, with the help of parishioners, the Grotto and Stations of the Cross became a reality. A walking Rosary was completed by an Eagle Scout project in 2022.
All are Welcome to join us for our weekend liturgies.

The Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church was established in 1955. The vision of the founding fathers was to establish a church that would serve the community. We hold that the Holy Bible is the inerrant Word of God and is the standard to which faith and conduct are to be in subjection. Our congregation accepts the Apostolic, Athanasian Creed, and the Nicene and the also the Unaltered Augsburg confession and Luther’s Small Catechism as a correct exposition of the teachings of the Word of God. Our mission is to carry out the great commission of Jesus as recorded in Luke 24:47, “that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name among all nations.”
