Hola Guy, how are doing? Are you enjoying your summer in Ibiza? I’m doing very good. Ibiza is my favorite place and this year it seems that the island is alive again.
Last year you held your first full season residency on the party island, what was new for you, and how was your experience?
INTERVIEW
It was the first time I had a residency in anything and I have to say that I really liked it! I had a villa that was 5 minutes away from the club. It was really cool to do the warm 10

ups at Be at Space because usually I play the peak times. And it was very interesting to see how the crowd at the party changes every week. We can see you playing at Space again this summer, what do you like most about this club? The crew is very supportive and well organised, and I like that I can play whatever music I want to play. For how long have you been involved in Ibiza?
Why is it so special for you as a DJ and a producer to play and perform in Ibiza? Most of the time when I’m in the studio I imagine these very special after parties in the villas in the mountains of Ibiza. I always try to recreate these moments. Also the island creates a sexual, spriritual energy that doesn’t exist elsewhere. And I think it’s perfect for electronic music.
How would you describe the night life and the music scene of the island to someone who has never been here before? Basically it’s full of people who come to loose themselves and they are not here by mistake. So if you are here you are probably here for the same reason and you are surrounded by people just like you. What do you think makes Ibiza special - apart from the music and the dance culture? Unfortunately I’ve only known the island from 2007. The first time I came here was for the Cocoon opening.

First: It’s an island. And the size creates somehow a feeling of familarity. Also the view is so beautiful but not in a cheesy way. There is still something very wild in all these green trees in front of the blue sea. Together with the amazing food and all the beautiful women and the pirate history it is close to perfection.
Is there anything you want to say about Partysan Magazine? It’s addictive. When it’s in your hand you will open it and read it, even if the story is about Erick Morillo. Thank you very much and have a fantastic time!
On which projects are you working right now? I’m finishing 2 albums at the moment. One is my own, and the other one is an experimental project that I’m doing with P.Diddy and his Dirty Money crew. It started out of a remix project and in the end Puff really liked it and said why don’t we make an album out of it. The music is really, really deep and different from other things that I have done. I play bass guitar and a lot of organs and it is somehow a fusion of British alternative and soulful R’n’B and I have to say that I’m extremely proud of the result.

Ok. Now comes a political question: Can you define who or what a „partisan“ is? Well, it’s someone who is staying in the forest with camouflage and is saving some Jewish guys if needed.

LUNA CITY EXPRESS
Luna City Express is a Berlin based electronic producer duo and the two guys behind, Norman Webber and Marco Resmann, both dj’ing and producing for more than ten years and organizing their own parties
in Germany since 2000. Marco and Norman present a style that includes basically all facets of house music. In 2004 they decided to call themselves Luna City Express and only one year after that their first release can be found on Moon Harbour. James Kameran's interest in music goes all the way back to his teenage years when he was singer, songwriter, guitarist and bassist in various bands in the UK. He is a well-known face on the island, as DJ James has played at Pacha Ibiza and has been resident for Spinclub at Privilege and later Space. This summer James is resident DJ for Novum and can be heard also at Bambuddha Grove. 16

KNOWN REBEL Organic soundscapes, space trips and dark sounds – that is the characteristic sound of Known Rebel, an electronic music duo from Ibiza consisting of Germån Escandell (born 1987) and Jaime Irles (born 1982) who musically joined forces in Barcelona in 2009. Two young students from Ibiza were living in Barcelona and were thinking about creating an electronic
project, covering ambient sounds, downtempo and IDM. To their own surprise their sound was appreciated very well when they started using the music platform Soundcloud to spread the word about their music. Hola Robert, what is the mentality of a Vagabundo? For me a vagabundo is an itinerant, drifting person, travelling from place to place, without a real home. A person who indulges in hedonism and bohemianism. Not giving a shit about money, behaviour or manners, getting wasted, following no rules, but always with a twinkle in 22

the eyes and a charming smile on the face. How did you experience the first weeks of Luciano’s new night at Pacha? It was a great experience all over! We all tried to give our best in the forefront of the opening party to make this night something special, bringing a new sound, a new face to Pacha and I think we succeeded. From the very first party we raised the amount of guests, we brought a new crowd to the club and created an amazing atmosphere inside. And if you have been to the recent parties you can feel and see how outstanding it is. The whole team did
Is there a special dress code for this party? All the Cadenza crew is dressed as vagabundos and we invite all the guests to do the same. For those who are not comfortable with their wardrobe we give out some special accessoires at our parties, including make up ;) What do you like most about Ibiza – the craziness or the relaxed side? Due to the fact that I have visited the island since 2003, I discovered and lived already all the crazy parts of this place. This year is the first year that I’m living here for the entire season and I’m really looking for a quiet and peaceful time during the week with my girl or friends. Visiting small beaches, having good
food in my favorite restaurants and enjoying the nature. But both sides are worth living and have their advantages and this makes the island so special. Thank you very much! Robert’s latest release ‘Soup Opera’ is just out on Cadenza Records. An absolutely cool track and standup bass burner that puts house sounds to techno with Chicago hi-hats, lashing out against a rising and falling bassline and fluttering tones. EDEN Heavyweight promotions at the superclub
San Antonio’s superclub Eden is launching another successful summer season with seven nights of non-stop action until September. New signings for this season include the house night Kidology, which will run as a separate event in Room 2 every Thursday, and the return of the infamous classics night Retro on Saturdays. Pete Tong’s Wonderland is residing with a record breaking third season on Fridays.

Roman Bunka is a great oud player and quite famous in the Arabic world through his cooperation with the Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir. For how many years have you been dj‘ing at the beach? I‘ve been playing for more than 10 years at Jockey Club at Salinas beach. 26

What do you think is special about playing music at the beach? Here I have the chance and the possibility to get a very direct feedback from the people. They come to see me at the DJ booth to ask which track I’m playing right now. I can say for sure that some of the very big hits of the past were played here first at Jockey Club! And of course you have the amazing view of the sea! How is the atmosphere there and what kind of people go there? It’s a special kind of atmosphere at Jockey Club, our guests are from 25 up, and very international. We have very nice people, the beautiful and the rich, the cool and the smart.
What style of tracks are you playing? Dance or chill? I start with lounge and chill at lunch time and go further with deep, soul to afro house. Sometimes I do flower power sessions which give the people a touch of Ibiza from the 70’s.

Boutique owners Catherine Sanchez and her husband Jean-Paul left high-flying London media jobs in 2008 to pursue their love of fashion on the White Isle. With no retail experience behind them, they calculated the maths “on the back of a drinks coaster” and decided to take the plunge. STYLE OF THE ISLE
Situated in the heart of Ibiza’s Old Town, their boutique “reVOLVER” merges an assortment of designers and price-tags. “We tend to 30

stock diffusion lines that are a bit edgier, a bit more rock ‘n’ roll. We don’t do hippy chic. We have more international designer labels, and that’s what we thought Ibiza was missing.” Two years on and the pair have no regrets: “The first year particularly was difficult. Sometimes we think it would be much better to be located in Barcelona because there are more people and Ibiza is very seasonal but by the same token people in

Barcelona are in their everyday frames of mind and are probably less likely to buy a party dress. That’s the type of thing you do on holiday.” This summer “reVOLVER” launches its Emergency Sunglasses promotion in collaboration with Linda Farrow, handing out shades at various clubs.

Welt Recordings has an openminded attitude in its choice of electronic music, with releases in deep house, tech house, minimal, house and electronica. The only main aim of the label is to seek for deep, warm, and organic electronic underground sound.
Nima’s label keeps growing. In May ‘Automated EP‘ was out, composed by Cozzy D and Live Tech Rebelz which after a few days received support from loads of A-list DJs and was even licensed for the upcoming Amnesia Underground Compilation, mixed by Loco Dice. Mid of June another extended player came out, dropped by the Romanians Pagal, Mihia Popoviciu and Jay Bliss, music with deep, throbbing grooves, woven together brilliantly with crisp, clear percussion and cheeky vocal samples. Cool music presented by one of the most active record labels in Ibiza. SOUND OF THE ISLE
Welt Recordings was first launched in 1999 in Copenhagen by Nima Gorji and Thomas Madvig. When Nima moved to Ibiza in 2007 the label was brought to the next level through a new collaboration with Charlotte Antoniades aka Madame Tina. After this “rebirth” the label started releasing digital tracks from different artists like Deep Collective, Shaun King, Tim Oe, YD Project, Enzo Siragusa, Kevin Cook, Alessandro Sensini, The Runners, Javi Muñoz and of course Nima himself.

In 2003 Mauro Picotto created Meganite, a successful techno night for many years at Privilege that was linked to credible techno, from Marco Carola and Adam Beyer who have played alongside Mauro. This season Meganite is moving to Space for a new party in conjunction with ‘Come Together’ on Thursdays.

his own radio show with six shows a week, the young Jeff was so talented on the decks that he was rapidly nicknamed ‘The Wizard'. At this point in time, he happily mixed new wave, industrial music, electro-pop and the first Detroit techno and Chicago house.
Mills is part of the glorious history of electronic music. Born in June 1963 in the historic capital of today's techno, Detroit, Jeff is of the same generation as its illustrious pioneers: Juan Atkins (born in 1962), Derrick May (1963) and Kevin Saunderson (1964).
In 1992 Jeff then created his own label, Axis Records and collaborated with the Tresor label in Berlin. And so began his rapid conquest of the global techno planet, thanks to powerful music and a mixing technique as fast as it is ingenious, alongside characters like Laurent Garnier and Carl Cox, Jeff incarnated the techno tornado, which was unleashed across the western world throughout the 90’s.
His career is just as precocious as theirs, having built his early reputation in his town of birth, hosting

Jeff Mills requires no introduction, he is one of the planetary superstars of techno, an unwearied hero of mega-raves and an ace of the threedeck mix. Let's not forget that he has also produced influential singles like ‘Sonic Destroyer', ‘The Bells' and the heroic ‘Purpose Maker' series. However, the man is more complex than he first appears, embodying an artistic ambition, which reaches far beyond simple techno music and is leagues ahead of his fellow DJs.

PARTYSAN MAGAZINE was first published in 1994 in Munich, back when techno was totally new and printing flyers was extremely expensive. How could the buzz about all the massive raves and techno parties happening at the time have been better circulated than through a fun and informative guide, small enough to fit into everone’s pocket? The 4 founders of PARTYSAN had the fantastic idea of publishing a little music mag that was dedicated exclusively to the techno movement and the growing electronic clubbing scene. PARTYSAN quickly became a professional, valuable and well-recognized electronic music guide, with 64
