Giulia is one of the most famous female party faces of the island and if you have not yet met her you probably know this girl from the posters, billboards and photos in some of the Ibiza magazines or from CD covers. The pretty Italian with the super model shape and the amazing big smile is a real workaholic. Believe it or not, Giulia is a real Ibiza business woman, heavily involved in a couple of event and media projects happening on the island and working almost 24/7 all season. The good thing is: partying is part of her job.

This year it’s Giulia’s 10th season on the island. Everything started when she came to Ibiza to visit her brother Marco who runs Pizza Loca in the port of Ibiza town. She began working at Can Pou bar right next door and stayed there for the following 8 years, organizing the club ticket sales. From her second summer on she also started working for Manumission as a dancer and performer.

“I loved working at the bar, speaking to people all the time, but two years ago I quit the ticket job because it became very difficult. At the same time I didn’t want to just be a dancer, getting paid only 60 Euros per night so I had to check out something new”, Giulia says. One day she was doing an interview with the underground party promoter Ady for Italian television. Very soon after that she got involved in the organisation of the Zoo Project parties: “For me this was just the best! The Zoo parties are the only parties in Ibiza where you can dance under the sky, everybody loves them, and I love my job, and I also love Ibiza so much because you can be what you want to be, and you can dress how you want to, and just be free. It’s a very energetic island, and when you are a positive person you will have a very good time, especially at the Zoo parties with their unique atmosphere”.

During the summer Giulia is in charge for the promotion of the Zoo, managing a team of 10 PR girls. In the winter she promotes Zoo parties in Italy: “Last winter we started with 6 parties in Italy which is a very big success for this underground brand. We also did some events in Berlin, Paris, London, in Romania and in Thailand.” Ibiza is Giulia’s favourite place - although working in the party sector has changed a lot in the last couple of years, and with new rules: “I think some regulation and some control is necessary as we are not in the 70‘s anymore. But some of the new rules are just stupid. For example that the parades in the port since this year have to stop at 1 o’clock. So if you don’t finish your parade in time you get fined. Sometimes it’s really funny to see how all the Amnesia, Pacha or Privilege parade boys and girls in the end are all running in their costumes, just to finish the tour in time. But still, Ibiza gives us a lot of freedom”.

Düsseldorf-based DJ and producer Arado may be fresh on the scene but he has already broken through on an international level. His unique talent as a producer caught the attention of Loco Dice, who released Arado’s acclaimed debut single ‘Uganda Express’ on Desolat in 2009. This breakthrough track was widely considered as one of the finest releases of 2009. His 2010 schedule includes releases on All Inn Limited, Area Remote and an EP for Dame-Music and Moon Harbour with Marco Faraone. His tracks are played by some of

YOUSEF As he approaches his third decade in the business, it is fair to say that Yousef’s career can be defined by evolution rather then by re-invention. Numerous peaks have included the release of his commercially successful collaboration with Carl Cox, ‘I Want You (Forever)’, his success in being the only DJ to play at all three Space Marquee events last summer, as well as for Carl Cox and for We Love… and the release this year of his first full artist album. The album ‘A Collection of Scars & Tissues’ features the club hits ‘Legacy’ and ‘Equilibrium’, as well as some deeper and darker numbers designed to make the album work better as a whole. In historical records the partisans were underground resistance groups, formed out of the civil population and organized in military structures, fighting against the fascist occupation during WWII. Partisan groups could be found in most occupied European countries, resisting the invading

Italian-born Picone has been DJing since the mid-90‘s when he was only 15! After landing early residencies at top Italian clubs Flow and il Muretto, Picone found himself playing alongside top international DJs like Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos, who played a key role in shaping his sound. The last 5 years has seen Alex make some serious waves with his productions, with his Furbo Floppy EP getting released on Luciano’s Cadenza label in 2008. Tracks from this EP also went on to feature on mix-CDs released by London club Fabric, with a different track on both Fabric 41, mixed by Luciano, and Fabric 42, mixed by Âme. Alex Picone has also played at Fabric himself on a number of occasions, a sure sign that he is being noticed by the right people. As well as high-profile appears in Italy and London, Alex Picone is also being booked to play at the best underground venues in Ibiza, including the aptly named Underground and the cool beach bar Ushuaia. Throughout what is only their second season Sands has been the host of numerous different parties, which has helped to expose themselves to a wide variety of clients. S.O.S on Saturdays and Lazy on Sundays attract some of the more mature clientele, many Ibiza residents and also families, whereas some of the after-parties such as Cocoon and We Love tend to bring a younger and funkier crowd.

Some of the big headliners so far have been Pete Tong, Carl Cox, Timo Mass, Eric Prydz, Tania Vulcano, Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos and Sven Väth and there are plenty more surprises planned for the rest of the season. Reservations are recommended at the weekends, as the restaurant tends to be fully booked and there are normally no more big beds available. The opening party of the new restaurant Novum end of May turned out to be one of the hottest openings this season! The two famous gourmet restaurants El Pato and Ars Vivendi on the road to Santa Gertrudis were refurbished totally and re-opened as Novum, offering a wonderful garden lounge, several bars and tents, as well as Ulises Braun’s Reunion Bar and two dining areas, one called “Gourmet” and the more casual “Wok” area where you can get something to eat until the early morning.
