INTERVIEW to the right one, and Space is just the right one. How did the project “Wild Life“ come about? We started Wild Life about three years ago with our management. We only did a few small ones in London before anybody really knew who we were. So we just wanted to carry on really. We

You are playing four exclusive Ibiza gigs for We Love at Space this summer. You know the venue from previous gigs. In comparison to other venues you performed, what makes Space so special and why does the Ibiza audience stand out? The thing with Space Ibiza is it’s got a very international crowd as obviously everybody is there for their holidays. Space has the best vibe of most of the clubs we’ve played in and the best sound system. I think we like the vibe of it and Ibiza in general. It’s such a good place for us with the history of house music there and it’s just a really good place for our show.

just like the idea behind the theme of it, it’s quite an easy thing to think of loads of ideas in terms of production and how to make the show look. I think it’s just a really good brand instead of just doing a normal „Disclosure presents“, it makes it a little bit more interesting. At first we didn’t have enough money or enough ideas to make it into a big, successful thing but I think this year with these shows we gonna be able to make it a proper thing. With We Love you have reliable, established partners on the island, but also huge expectations to live up to. Taking this into account, how does it feel to headline

How does a club gig like at Space compare to a standard concert venue? The main room at Space is quite big anyway, in a way it is like a concert venue. We usually don’t bring the show to clubs because it doesn’t usually work really. But at Space it does and that’s what makes it special. We love clubs, that’s where we started and we love being able to bring the whole show

INTERVIEW We Love events this summer? From past experience We Love was our favourite night in Ibiza really, it’s just the most fun we’ve had. We have a really good relationship with the guys. It just made sense, it was a no-brainer to go with them. We played many good shows in Ibiza like in Dalt Vila and djing in various other clubs but I think Space is just the perfect one for our show and almost the only one where it’s possible in terms of actually having the stage. Everywhere else there was a DJ booth so there isn’t really many venues where you can put on a show with as much production as we bring. And obviously the We Love night is our favourite night. What can we expect from your gigs – full fledged concerts, DJ sets, live performances? We are doing two live shows (June 22nd, September 14th) and two DJ sets (July 20th and August 17th). For the live shows we will be in the main room and it will be our full live show, with instruments and probably various singers. We play drums, guitars, keyboards, all that kind of stuff. Then we also got our visual screens, lightings - so it’ll be the full on show that we are also touring the world with.

INTERVIEW And with the DJ sets I think we gonna be in the main room too. We’ve done the terrace now a couple of times but we really like the challenge of djing in the main room because it’s something we haven’t done before. It’ll be much more about the music, less production, just creating a vibe. The interesting thing about the Wild Life aspect is, it won’t just be a normal show, we gonna bring special decoration just for these nights. So we gonna bring big inflatable trees, lots of jungle vibe stuff. I think we’ll try to make the DJ booth out of bamboo, so yeah, it’s looking amazing. Can you tell us more about the production and decoration of your “Wild Life” shows? There are a few things but I wanna leave it a surprise. I don’t wanna lose the aspect of ‚this is Space‘. I still want people to know that they’re in Space. We are not gonna totally transform the club because Space is an amazing place anyway, it’s a great place to go. For people who haven’t been there I don’t wanna take away their Space experience and completely

INTERVIEW Disclosure-ize it. But there will be elements in there that will make it special and fun as well, you know, we are not taking it too seriously. It’s gonna be some pretty funny stuff going on in there. Your four Wild Life parties include guests like Dusky, Derrick May, Âme and Henrik Schwarz from Innervisions, Carl Craig or Skream. How much were you two involved in the selection of your Wild Life acts and how did you go about in choosing who to invite? We were completely and entirely involved, we pretty much chose the line ups for every show, obviously with our management and agents. But we gave them a list of names, they went out and got them. And once we had agreed on everyone who is up for playing we sat down and put all the names together and decided who is gonna be where and which night they were gonna play and who would work best to avoid as many clashes as possible. It was a bit of a tricky one but it was really good fun, it was like organising a mini-festival. We are so happy about the people we’ve got, there’s some amazing names. To have such a nice balance between old and new as we have people like George Fitzgerald playing and then we’ve got people like Derrick May playing so it’s great to have that old and new. With Sam Smith, Eliza Doolittle or Mary J Blige you have some great singers on your productions. Will you bring some of your co-singers with you to We Love Space, too?

INTERVIEW We definitely plan on bringing some singers but I’m gonna leave it a mystery who’s is going to be there, it’s always nice to have a surprise, it makes it special. Have you ever been on the island before you played there? What is your impression of Ibiza? We‘ve been to Spain a few times but we’ve never actually been to Ibiza for holidays, only Disclosure brought us there. I’m very glad it did. It’s kind of one of my favourite places in the world. The thing that I like about it though is you obviously have all the craziness down in the South and all the clubs but you’ve only got to rent a car and drive North for a few minutes and you got the most beautiful and peaceful villas where you can have a family holiday with all the craziness happening down South. I wasn’t expecting that. I thought the whole island was a whole party all the time. I quite like how they separated the calm beaches away from all the mad clubs. Apart from playing here, will you have time to spend some free time here on the island and what are your plans to do on a free day in Ibiza? We got a little bit of time – in June we are landing on the day of the show and I think we are pretty much going straight to soundcheck but then on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday we’ve got a villa which we rented and we gonna just chill out and have a bit of a relaxing time. With a strong local and worker following, saturdays look like the time for well versed house heads to flock to the open air festival like arena to lap up the tunes supplied by the cream of the crop. The first month boasts and enviable list of headliners including Maya Jane Coles, Magda, Hot since 82, Deetron and Yousef. With a more streamlined concentrated show promised this year expect all the usual sensory flamboyance from arguably the worlds most recognised DJ and producer. Hardwell was one name that every promoter wanted on artwork for this season after numerous awards and what can only be seen as a truly colossal year for the Dutch DJ who was crowned DJ Mag No.1 in October. Combining his I AM HARDWELL world tour experience with some Island magic he aims to

Axwell and Ingrosso bring back the Departures venture to wednesdays as two thirds of the Swedish House Mafia combine for what will be manys a dancefloor lovers highlight of the summer. CLANDESTIN Full On Trance at Space Ibiza Yes, you‘ve read right: Space Ibiza has its own trance night again. It‘s been 3 years since this popular Ibiza genre was been heard last time on the club‘s tremendous sound system when Armin van Buuren played back then. With Ferry Corsten this year, Space has a more than up for it successor in terms of popularity and experience. The Rotterdam-born Trance master has played in most of the island‘s clubs and gained special fame by headlining many of Amnesia‘s Cream events in the past. Space’ in-house production Clandestin will play host to Corsten‘s Full On parties, an amazing musical journey to be held every seven days at the most awarded club in the world. The

brainchild of Ferry Corsten, launched in 2007 in Rotterdam, the extravagant Full On show, blends House, Trance and Electro. It will feature unique back-to-back sets between Ferry Corsten and his carefully chosen guest DJs. This July‘s most revered guests are probably the one and only Cosmic Gate for July 11th. Other guests this month include the Bassjackers, Michael Woods and Jacob van Hage. Paul Reynolds is to play the sunset terrace every Friday for a perfect start into the night. She stole the spotlight a few years back with her giant release “What They Say”, out on Franc Roger’s label, Real Tone Records, and it has been history in the making ever since. Maya, starts experimenting with music production at the age of 15, trifling with hip-hop beats and later turning to a more dubbier sound. She is driven into the house scene naturally through years of clubbing in the underground warehouse parties of London and slowly starts focusing her production on the genre.

A significant carrier accomplishment for the female producer is an invitation from DJ Kicks inviting the young artist for her own K7 compilation and manifesting her talent to the world. Maya is not a conventional musician, she likes to think outside the box, which is the reason for her numerous production aliases. Nocturnal Sunshine is one of the names under which she has remixed many emerging talents and caught the attention of veterans like Joy Orbison and Craig Richards. She is also one half of the electronic duo, She Is Danger, alongside the vocalist Lena Cullen, remixing artists from Gorillaz to Groove Armada.

Her first solo album released July last year is no exception to Maya’s control of all production duties. The album was released on her label I/AM/ME led by the single “Everything” ft. Karin Park. If you thought South Florida consists of red necks and alligators only, well you were simply wrong! Orlando, Florida is the home of a youngster DJ on the Ibiza map under the name of, Randall M. Relatively new to the scene, in just a few years he has managed to score a residency in Sankeys, Ibiza under the collaboration of VIVa Warriors and the biggest and baldest boat party sold in PDB, Thank God We Are Rebels. Randall M started off as a hip-hop DJ in Orlando, Florida but things changed after a trip to Ibiza and a night in Space, which opened his eyes to a whole new sound. He was automatically drawn to the underground and has not looked back ever since. Following his fairly new passion, he made Berlin home last year where he spent the winter months between the studio, long hours of raving, and touring the old continent and North America. His sound varies from deep dub-techno to melodic house and is ever growing and evolving.

The two Polish born musical animals under the names of Grzegorz and Wojciech, aka Catz ‘N Dogz, have been champions of the underground for quite some time. The best friends duo has come a long way and the last few years the boys had put their mark on the industry through productions, shows, and with no surprise a feature in Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJ Poll. Formally affiliated as 3 Channels, Greg and Voitek began their ventures in the DJ world back in 2003 in their homeland hosting a club night in a local disco. Naturally after a few years they started experimenting with music production, which caught the attention of some of the big players in the

It was not too long after, Claude VonStroke hired Greg and Voitek for his dirtybird roster and had the boys remix his infamous anthem “Who’s Afraid Of Detroit?”, which was a limited edition one side vinyl release. The year 2008 marked a new beginning for the lads. They reinvented themselves as Catz ‘N Dogz and released their first full album “Stars of Zoo” expressing a deeper house sound. Naturally a new label launch followed with the name of Pets Recordings and an A&R debut by Eats Everything’s big hit “Entrance Song” and more recently Rachel Row’s “Follow The Step”.

Later on, in 2012 the duo’s mix of the legendary “Body Language” compilation series and the release “They Frontin” featuring Monty Luke EP, was up for nomination as WMC’s best deep house track and one of the most played songs that year. Last year saw collaboration with KINK on the “Love EP” for dirtybird and a free release of the “Untitled” album under their Different Marks alias. Later that year, Greg and Voitek joined forces with Eats Everything as “Catz Eats Dogz” for a series of killer productions with “Hush” leading the way as a top dance floor hit of 2013. This 2014 is already quite promising for the duo with a kick off of their Pets party in BPM,

Mexico this past January. Their Watergate residency is growing constantly and the Sonar showcase proved to be a big success. Busy summer schedule is awaiting the duo with tours and gigs around globe and their first WOODED event in July hosted in the boy’s hometown Wroclaw, Poland. Catz ‘N Dogz are always keeping busy! The Maidstone, Kent born artist knows what it is like to learn the trade from very humble beginnings at 16 in a record shop and local bars before becoming a resident at Kent‘s Club Class. It is there where he learns all about DJing at various s e t times, about musical moods and audience tastes. This residency also allows him to establish contacts with well known artists like Deep Dish, Pete Tong and John Digweed – inspiration that will lead to Fanciulli developing his own take on electronic music. Later, much talked about residencies at Space Miami and Space Ibiza become Fanciulli‘s breakthrough and in 2004 his own label “Saved Record“ is launched. “There is such an untapped pool of talent across the world at the moment that I want to help the new kids coming through get the recognition their music rightly deserves” says Nic about his amibitions with the project.
