The Artist’s Thoughts, 16 x 12 in., acrylic on wood, $2,900.00

F.A.O. (For Amusement Only) At the end of last year when I began working on this show, I thought about creating small paintings that were grouped into micro themes, all under the umbrella of a singular cohesive concept; 10 mini shows within a single show. During the long process of making a solo exhibition, my vision and ideas often evolve. It is very similar to everything I create in my life. Things were blossoming quite nicely, and then the shit began to hit the proverbial fan. Obviously, we all became quagmired in an epic shift of lifestyle and daily routine. Though the mind of an artist never truly sleeps, some serious insomnia settled in. As society created new necessary norms, it seemed more important than ever to parlay my ideas and thoughts into art. I wanted to fall into the world of painting, to focus and enjoy every brushstroke, every color that I manipulated. Talk about therapy of the soul. I concentrated on simply creating imagery that made me feel provoked and entertained. Through this process, I discovered that what I needed, perhaps what we all needed, was amusement. We needed to be joyfully amused and pushed into a world that asks only one thing of us... to enjoy. “F.A.O. (For Amusement Only) is exactly what the doctor ordered. This small scale, intimate collection is where my mind desperately diverted to on a nightly basis. I wanted to drift way and be delighted. The power of art is not just in the act of creating, but also within the act of looking and living with it, being surrounded by it, and falling into it. Thank you for becoming a part of this art. Go ahead and put all of your energy toward immersing yourself in these works and the worlds they hold. Let me, if only so briefly, amuse you.
