For Fred Lisaius “Letting The Light Back In” represents his personal experience coming out from a year of pandemic. The paintings in the exhibition are intended to re-ignite hope from days that were once filled with isolation and fear and come from a place of gratitude offering a renewed sense of community and optimism. The paintings celebrate the support and strength we have shared with those around us, our collective resilience and celebrate the sunnier, more positive days ahead.

Exploring man’s relationships with the natural world, and to one another, Fred Lisaius’ work is his personal journey. The work examines topics like community, diversity, harmony, and change, all within a single composition. Lisaius often relies on iconic and symbolic imagery such as trees, birds and flowers to convey his message, while keeping the imagery simple and naive. “The deeper I go into the forest the closer I feel to the truth. Off of the trail, there is a quiet calm where ideas can be contemplated and refined. My paintings reflect this and I utilize the forum of nature to explore my relationship to the natural world and to other people. When it’s foggy I see everything more clearly. Shapes are simplified, colors subdued and a veil of mystery is cast. I like to incorporate transitions in my paintings; spaces such as change of season, day into night and awake to sleep are realms where the imagination and reality coexist. My paintings provide a portal to a place where dramas unfold, explorations can occur and discoveries are made.” -Fred Lisaius-
