ART FACTORY
PHASE III
OCAD UNIVERSITY SATELLITE CAMPUS PROPOSAL ASC520 Integration Studio I September 2018 - December 2018 Revit 2018, Rhino, V-ray, Illustrator, Photoshop
Situated in the lower junction triangle, Art Factory aims to teach students using the architectural elements of the building, in a framework that emulates the design process. From unrefined to refined, areas of the building both exterior and interior are designed to express the program inside. In addition, master planning efforts to revitalize the lower junction into a cultural hub via the integration of a public corridor from Bloor to the museum of contemporary art, and mixed-use buildings north of the building.

ART FACTORY PHASE I
1:200 PHYSICIAL MODEL STUDY ASC620 Integration Studio II January 2019 Lasercutting, Modelmaking, Crafting
A continuation of the previous semesters work, myself and a partner built a 1:200 scale model of the OCAD U Satellite Campus Proposal: Art Factory, however with new ideas implemented in the overall design. A jagged atrium throughout the floors and sawtooth roofs that face north were explored within the model. The idea was to bring more diffused light into the lower floors as well create opportunities for the different programs within the building to collaborate around the jagged atrium, via the sight lines and unique space.

SQUISHED GRANGE PARK PAVILION ASC320 Integration Studio I September 2017 - October 2017 Rhino 5, V-ray, Illustrator, Photoshop
The intent of this project is to create an activity space specifically for OCAD students. Located in the center of Grange Park, the pavilions’ form ignites creativity, curiosity and playfulness. Only accessible by OCAD students, this exclusivity creates tension and envy from the public which further builds attraction. The "blob" form represents the rude, childish and almost party like nature of students. In contrast to the free form, the concrete slab that sits on top represents the university academia, metaphorically translating the formal behavior of a university holding down the students, or the idea of these students’ actions being held back. The concrete slab squishing the behavior of students. Free flowing and smooth, the interior space is designed like the exterior form, but with extruded seats and undulation in which students can lounge around on and party.

STORTRUM
TORONTO CENTRE FOR ARCHITECTURE ASC320 Integration Studio I September 2017 - October 2017 Rhino 5, V-ray, Illustrator, Photoshop
Competing with the immediate surrounding architectural work, such as the City Hall, Reflecting Pool and the Theatre, Stortrum exploits sheer height and mass, to gain the attention of the public, while improving unsuccessful aspects of the site such as; utilizing the raised walkways, bringing attention to the west, a less used part of Nathan Phillips Square, and defining Osgoode Lane more. The upscaled interior creates an experience of being extremely small, and the linear elements drive the individuals gaze upwards. Pushing the boundaries of concrete and new technology, these ideas are brought forth by the architectural elements and creates a statement and experience in which is unique in Toronto.

HEART + HOME HOMELESS YOUTH SHELTER
PHASE III
ASC420 Integration Studio II January 2018 - April 2018 Rhino 5, V-ray, Illustrator, Photoshop
HEART + HOME, located on Church and McGill, is a homeless youth shelter that promotes active social engagement both outside and inside. The inner courtyard is met with shifted boxes that play with the interior volume and encourages kids to become active. The interior arrangement is designed to encourage kids to step out of the rooms and into the spaces between them, whether that be the hallways, a small nook with a couch, or window sill. These areas are where kids and teens can interact as if living in a real home among family, strengthening their social skills and preparing them for the real world.
