even Maharaj is one of New Zealand’s most successful franchisees in the food industry, with 11 stores. When he started working with Frikkie Le Roux a few years ago, Deven already had 30 years’ experience and owned 5 Subway franchises. You might have thought he knew it all – but when he took on Frikkie to help him grow his business and develop his store managers while giving him more family time, the results were impressive. His Key Performance Indicators improved by between 45-75 percent across all his stores, and one category increased by a massive 300 percent! Deven’s story is one of a number that Frikkie uses to demonstrate the effectiveness of High Performance Training & Coaching. He and his wife Pao have worked with almost 100,000 people worldwide, including many real estate agents, brands such as Toyota and BMW, IT companies and a variety of franchises too. In 2019, Frikkie and Pao launched the High Performance franchise. Just 18 months later, there are already 8 franchisees around New Zealand using the same approach to deliver results for their clients, and Frikkie is looking for around 20 more to meet demand.
Changing behaviour to get results ‘What makes High Performance different is not just the results we get, but the way that we get them,’ says Frikkie. ‘A lot of business coaches train from their own experience, but we use a variety of proven tools to help our clients identify their KPIs, develop strategies to improve results, and then create behavioural change to achieve their goals. ‘The initial training is usually carried out in person, although it can be done online, either by the franchisee themselves or one of our High Performance coaches who can present in English, Chinese or Thai. This takes the client’s team through the appropriate module (there are seven core programmes to choose from), and then we set up online KPI measurement and reporting systems. We then support our clients through Zoom or Microsoft Teams with weekly calls over a period, so that they can identify their strengths and learn new habits which help them to deliver in every area. ‘All our programmes are eligible for the NZTE Regional Business Partner Programme, and qualifying businesses can receive up to 50 percent funding. Frikkie and Pao Le Roux: ‘It’s about having the right mind-set and a can-do attitude’ franchise.co.nz – PUTTING PEOPLE IN BUSINESS
‘It works. One of our clients, Trudy Boyce from Barfoot & Thompson, reckons that for every dollar she invested with us, she got 24 dollars back. Our franchisees really can make a difference.’
Have you got the right attitude? Frikkie says that the High Performance franchise isn’t for everyone. ‘Quite honestly, we have had over 250 applicants in the last 18 months and only appointed 8 franchisees, so you can see how important it is for us to get the right people. We want franchisees who have business or sales experience themselves, people who want to help business owners, and people who are able to talk at director level. ‘Your role is to get new clients on board. You need to be able to relate to people, determine their needs, hear their problems, and help them move forwards and achieve real long-term results.’ Franchisees can come from any background, but Frikkie says that it’s important to have a strong network within their sector. ‘You aren’t limited to a geographical territory, so if you have a background in, say, engineering, we will encourage you to go back to that industry, focus on it and work on getting referrals. We’ll support you in achieving your own KPIs, and our sophisticated online systems mean that all our franchisees can see who is working with whom. ‘Our products have a high value, so just two programmes per month would generate around $100,000 per year, but it’s possible to do much more than that – one of our new franchisees did $90,000 in their first two months. It’s about having the right mind-set and a can-do attitude.’
Flexible model The High Performance franchise is a highly-flexible business model, says Frikkie. ‘You can operate from home, set your own working hours, and employ people or not as you choose. The initial investment is just $60,000 +gst, and we will provide all the systems, tools, training and marketing to help you get established. There’s also a high level of ongoing support to ensure that you achieve the same great results as your clients, with weekly business development meetings on a one-toone basis and regular training. ‘This is a real opportunity for the right people to make a difference to the performance and productivity of New Zealand businesses, and to help unlock the potential they possess. As a High Performance Training & Coaching franchisee, you can help any business owner in New Zealand have a better work/life balance, increase profit and reduce costs. If you want to be part of that, while running a successful business of your own, call me now.’ And the last word goes to Vic Wilson of IT360, who started working with High Performance franchisee Steve Clark during the depths of Covid. ‘I have to say, the results have been fantastic. We really appreciate it – I highly recommend them to you.’
