Jacqueline Marie started modeling at the age of 15 and signed with Porter Models of Houston, TX at 16 years old. As a model she walked in various fashion events such as, Baby Phat 2001 Collection and OPI Showcase. She then went on to appear in Glamour Shots National Christmas campaign and made it to the 3rd round of auditions of Americas Next Top Model this past year. She has been featured on Tejano singer Bobby Pulido's music video, "Algun Dia" as well as Leonado's debut music video "Loca". With enough insight and a strong desire for the fashion industry, Jacqueline decided to try her luck behind the camera as a wardrobe fashion stylist. Her work has recently taken her to New York City to style for reality star Carmen Carrera of Rupals, Drag Race and Model Latina's first winner Jessica Caban. While in NYC she was offered to intern for musics VH1. No doubt, that in her short 3 years as a stylist, her love and hunger for the fashion world has grown and has opened many doors. She is willing to learn all she can about fashion to bring to the Rio Grande Valley. One of her greatest dreams was to open up a model agency in the Valley and that has been one of her favorite accomplishments. Along with her partner, Melissa Vanessa Guy, they will bring model talent in the RGV to new heights.

I m a graphic design student and photographer based in McAllen, TX. It s difficult to talk about myself but Im just a guy who loves art in general and deeply passionate about photography. I like to see the subject through the lens and create a different world after the click. I was 17 years old when I started taking pictures and my work was published for the first time in a local magazine and I have not left the camera since then. My work is inspired by fashion photography and I hope one day my work will become an inspiration.

Starting in 1998 in music production, he decided to start his artistic career in 2009 as a professional photographer. Today, Cheko Tapia specializes in portrait, editorial, and wedding photography. His motivation is doing the best work with every single new photoshoot. His career path includes international and national traveling in order to get the best shots in places like New York, Key West Florida and Paris, just to mention a few, used for his different portfolios.

Priscilla D Anjou has traveled a long journey in the world of modeling, having worked for M.A.C. Cosmetics, Hawaiian Tropic, Nissan, Truquet Swarovski, Cirque de Soleil and Bonafont amoungst various others, she has been modeling for 9 years locally, nationally and internationally. She has participated in various international campaigns and has posed for several national mexican magazines, including MonitorLatino and Notas para Ti. She has dabbled in music videos and has walked various runways in Mexico City, Houston and Las Vegas. Even though she is traveling all over the world for new projects, she is also actively involved in her local community as a creative director for a local bilingual children s television show. She is always looking for ways to promote and participate in projects that promote her hispanic heritage. She was pleased in being able to participate in Celebrity Nights, a magazine that is from her native city.

Luminaria Art Comes to Life by Ana Acosta

Luminaria is San Antonio’s adaptation of “White Nights,” which was originally conceived in Paris in 2002. This year marked the fifth anniversary of the art event. Luminaria is a free event that showcases all art forms in an outdoor setting in the Hemisphere, a 90-acre park. For one night, spaces are transformed into provisional exhibitions. This year, Luminaria included 80 artists. For the first time, wellknown supervisors from prestigious art institutions were involved to select the artists invited to show their work. About 300,000 people turned out for last year’s Luminaria; around 315,000 were there this year by 10 p.m., a significant increase 26 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

from last year. The changes made this year allowed San Antonio artists as well as other artists to showcase their art and talent in an even bigger atmosphere than last year. Luminaria officially started in 2008 and continues to grow and exceed expectations each year. We had a great time covering this years Luminaria and will continue to show our support for the artists. Art is an important aspect in life and this gives all artists, who participate, a chance to show their beautiful works of art to hundreds of thousands of people. Luminaria really out did themselves this year, bringing an amazing experience to downtown San Antonio. Everywhere you

turned there was some kind of art form going on, whether it be fire-breathers, live music, laser light shows, paintings or photography. With everything lit up from trees to walkways, “Luminaria: Art Comes to Life,” really lived up to its name. Free entrance, great food and countless works of art, how could you not have a great time. Yet another successful turnout for Luminaria and we can’t wait to see what next years event has in store for us and you can be sure that we will be there to show our support.

Lumanaria, 2013 www.luminariasa.org

Luminaria 2013 will return to its March date and take place on March 9, 2013 in HemisFair Park. Luminaria is San Antonio’s annual celebration of art and artists. Held in March and overseen by San Antonio’s creative leaders, it is free of charge and showcases all art forms in an outdoor setting and inside various venues downtown. Luminaria spotlights San Antonio’s cultural assets for local citizens and visitors alike and is made possible through the generosity of artists, arts organizations, volunteers, and public and private donations.

men’s guide to buying

sexy lingerie for that special lady By Chris G

Buying ladies nightwear can be baffling to a man and yet sometime in your life you might have to undertake this difficult task. Many men would feel blessed if they receive a tutorial on how to buy the right lingerie to save them the confusion. It’s pretty embarrassing to have to ask the sales person for suggestions when you are buying it for your wife or girlfriend. Guys, if you are terrified of buying lingerie... you should be. Do you get garter belts, corsets or thongs or chemises or baby-dolls? If you get it right, you are a hero and you are in for some action. If you buy too big or too small or just plain wrong, your wife or girlfriend could feel humiliated, which means your efforts backfired and it may be a lonely night, or week. To save you from this ordeal we have therefore discussed a few tips which will help you find the right lingerie for that special lady. 30 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

right type of ladies nightwear for your partnerwhen nightgowns are more on the traditional side, Chemises are more flirty. There are also endless choices available in between as well. Finding the right type of nightwear is essential if you want your partner to really like it.

Set The Right Mood:

While shopping for ladies nightwear keep the occasion in mind. Setting the right mood is important with the gift. The nature of your gift would vary depending upon the occasion as well as the person who you want to gift.

Be Observant:

Being observant pays off when it comes to choose the right ladies nightwear. Small things like her preferences of color, style and type would help you decide faster about the right product.

Ask Yourself:

Ask yourself how you would like to see her, which color you think would suit her the best. Women like to wear something which would get her flattering remarks from her partner but of course that has to be genuine. Try to imagine her on that night suit and you would know what to buy.

Budget:

Something Flattering:

Try to buy something that she doesn’t wear everyday. When you are planning to gift a ladies nightwear, being a little extravagant won’t hurt. Look for rich colors and fabric. Remember women do love to receive flattering gifts from their partners. You may buy some nightwear which will accentuate her beauty and complements her figure.

Understand Color:

The colors would speak volumes but it must go with her personality. Colors have their special meanings. Hence, you may give sometime in understanding the different meanings of different colors. Also, you may spare some thoughts to the

Of course you don’t have to go overboard to gift your loved ones. You must shop around to find the right option within your budget. You can now also shop online to explore the wide range of ladies nightwear. Shopping online would also let you find some great budget deals from time to time.

The History As an extra treat, we’ve got this little nugget of lingerie wisdom for you to keep you even more informed about the lacy stuff. Learn about lingerie through the ages with this timeline: 1550’s The corset or ‘pair of bodies’ as it was known, is the main item of female underwear. They’re commonly supported with whale and elephant bones.

1829 The first front-fastening corsets are created, allowing women to remove corsets without help. Lesbian handmaidens everywhere shed tears. 1913 New York socialite Mary-Phelps Jacobs patents the brassiere. 91 years later, her modern day equivalent, Paris Hilton, gives us the sex tape. 1935 American bra company Warners introduces four cup sizes: A, B, C and D, whilst British firms continue to use coy terms like medium, junior and table top until the 1950’s. 1939 Mayor of New York, Fiorello La Guardia orders the nude dancers at the city’s World’s Fair to cover up.The thong is hastily invented to do the job. 1944 British women construct their own underwear during the war. Big granny pants made from parachutes are all the rage. 1968 Gossard produce the original Wonderbra and it’s a hit.The world highfives each other. 1968 Feminists protest with ‘bra burnings’ except no bras are actually burnt (they couldn’t get a permit). Bras, garters, false eyelashes and copies of Playboy are put in bins to protest against a beauty pageant. 1974 The term ‘going commando’ enters the public’s consciousness. Although ‘upskirts’ doesn’t appear until after the millennium. 1990’s Madonna wears a Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra during her Blonde Ambition tour. Men are both aroused and terrified. 1992 The Wonderbra becomes a massive hit. Again. With no small thanks to Eva Herzigová and the infamous ‘Hello Boys’ poster campaign. 2000 Sisqo releases Thong Song. It’s no Stairway To Heaven, but the video is undeniably amazing. 2001 Renée Zellweger makes big granny pants okay again in the awful Bridget Jones movie. 2007 Dr. Joanne Morgan invents an entirely strapless bra for big-breasted women but shockingly doesn’t win a Nobel Prize. 2009 Elena Bodnar invents a bra that can be converted into two gas masks and wins an Ig Nobel Prize (for inventions that make you laugh, then think). GETTING YOUR FIRST TATTOO DESIGN? By Monroe Whitaker

TIPS To Help YOU ALONG! In today’s world, getting a tattoo is more of a fashionable or cool thing to do than it was a century ago when tribal soldiers get tattooed for belief purpose. Today, having a tattoo makes you unique and stands out from others who doesn’t have one.

F

ew of the more popular tattoo designs are the tribal tattoo designs, the oriental tattoo designs and wording tattoo designs. There are tons of designs that you can pick and select from but the golden rule is, use only designs that you are 100% happy with and get it done by a reputable artist. And when choosing and hunting for your tattoo design, you would desire only the best designs that you’ll be able to find. You need to use only top quality, tattoo friendly designs and if you’ve ever 34 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

searched for free tattoo designs online, those are precisely the kind of tattoo designs that you would need to avoid using. That’s because these designs are sometimes low quality tattoo designs and using these free designs will end up in a bad tattoo. You wouldn’t wish to take the danger of having your tattoo turn out bad do you? And besides, these designs are free and are abused and spammed by net users all over the net. Therefore, the designs lose its uniqueness and that is due to

the fact that there are an enormous number of Internet users searching for tattoo designs online daily and most of them are all taking a look at the very same free designs. As a result, these folk are really sharing the same tattoo designs and getting the very same tattoo too. Imagine what it is like to have the same tattoo as hundreds of others. When you’re done selecting your tattoo designs, the next step is to go looking for a reputable artist.

It is something that will be with you forever

I

f you’re getting a tattoo for the very first time, chances are that you don’t know which studio you need to visit to get your tattoo done. One way to get you started is to check with friends who have gotten a tattoo before and know a few credible artists.Thru referral of your friends you may even get a reduction from the artist if your pals knows the artist sufficiently well. Also, if you are getting ready to get more tattoos in the future, you need to also build a relationship with the artist. It is always good to start to know them more and this might help you in the future when you are getting another tattoo.

Finally, remember that a tattoo isn’t something you wish to treat lightly as it is permanent. It is something that will be with you forever, therefore, pick your design cleverly and do not compromise the quality of your tattoo design. Then, find a reputable artist to help you with your tattoo and don’t forget to build a relationship with them. Always recall that getting a tattoo is much cheaper and less painful than removing one. So, decide and pick your tattoo designs carefully and you are on the right path to having an astonishing tattoo!

tattoo

European missionaries in the Cook Islands tried to scrub off tattoos with sandstone – an early form of dermabrasion! Removing a tattoo can cost up to three times the cost of getting a tattoo.

The world’s most tattooed person is Scotland’s Tom Leppard – 99.9% of his body is covered with leopardskin design. In 2006, a poll revealed that 36% of people ages 18 to 29 had at least one tattoo.

American George C. Reigner, Jr. has over 1000 Disney characters inked in his skin – including all 101 dalmatians. Because the characters are copyrighted, he got permission from Disney before going under the needle. Sources: www.tidbitfun.com

trivia

The word “tattoo” comes from the Tahitian word “tatau,” which means to mark.

Historians believe that in the early days, urine was sometimes used to mix tattoo color.

Early Christians often had a cross tattoo – usually on the face or arms. But by AD 787, tattoos were renounced by a council of churches. King Harold II of England had many tattoos, which were used to identify his body after the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

In the 5th century BC, tattoos were used to transmit secret messages across enemy lines. August/September 2012_Celebritynights.com_ 35

5 reasons to

pole dance

By Nikita Rose

for fitness

Pole dancing for exercise is sweeping the country as a fun new fitness trend. It may seem easy and full of fluff, but the sport has some amazing fitness benefits that rival your favorite workout.

P

ole dancing classes are popping up in fitness centers across America, Australia and the United Kingdom because it’s a fun, physically demanding form of exercise that can make you feel fit and sexy at the same time. Whether you’re wearing 6-inch heels or your frumpiest T-shir t, as long as you have access to a pole, you can enjoy the health benefits of pole dancing. Here we show you 5 benefits that you won’t want to miss.

1 2

Weight Loss - Did you know that on average, during an hour of pole dancing you burn 450 calories or more? This is the equivalent of playing a spor t like tennis or football for an hour, except even better because this workout gives you some extra added benefits that regular spor ts or running on the treadmill can’t. By combining cardio and resistance training, pole dancing helps women lose weight. Building Muscle - Believe it or not, this activity requires enormous muscle strength and is not just frivolous booty-shaking around a pole, as some people seem to think. Climbing and spinning around the pole engages all of the muscles of your body: your core, arms, legs, and back get an intense workout from having to haul, lift and spin your entire body weight around the pole repeatedly. Some advanced dancers have the ability to hold their entire body upside down using just their core strength! You won’t get this type of workout in a

38 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

3 4

spinning class, that’s for sure. Fitness experts say that pole dancing at a professional level is comparable to gymnastics and figure skating in terms of the way moves are physically executed by your muscles. Most world champion pole dancers are absolutely ripped, with incredibly defined muscles.

Increased Flexibility - The average pole dance class warmup involves stretches specifically designed to increase the body’s flexibility. The ability to do splits, backbends, and other awesome feats are necessary to do some advanced moves. Even as a beginner, dancing regularly just once a week will eventually show increases in your body’s flexibility, range of motion, balance and coordination.

Greater Confidence - Just like any other exercise, pole dancing releases endorphins that greatly uplift your mood and positivity. Not to mention, knowing you can lift, spin, and perform gymnastic-like moves will no doubt increase your confidence. There’s no better feeling than the pride and sense of accomplishment of mastering a spin you’ve been practicing for weeks or seeing your strength steadily increase week after week. The progressive aspect of this sport means that no matter how long you do it, there’s always more spins to learn, climbs to do and dance moves to master - keeping you engaged, challenged, and having fun for years, if you choose. You will never get bored with this sport, and it can be downright addictive!

feel sexy

5

Increased Femininity - Every woman, no matter age or size, looks great dancing around the pole, and many women report increased self-esteem, body confidence, and feelings of sexiness and sensuality from practicing on a regular basis. As women, a lot of us are uncomfortable in our own skin or ashamed or afraid of being sexy and confident. Pole dancing allows you to release inhibitions and be free to be the sexy, beautiful woman you are without judgement, and with the support and encouragement of other women around you. If you want to share your dancing routine with your romantic partner, you’ll feel even more confident in your ability to add some spice to the relationship. You do not have to look like a stripper or movie star to do pole dancing. If you are interested in a form of exercise that can get you physically fit, but still be loads of fun, consider pole dancing. If you don’t want to put a pole in your own home, many places offer pole dancing classes that are made for women that allow you to freely exercise in the comfort of other women just like you. If you find exercising boring, try something new that doesn’t seem like work at all.

high heel problems you should know about By George Hutton

High heels are responsible for a host of health problems that can cause significant pain and suffering later in life.

M

any people would quickly agree that a women is somehow more attractive when she’s wearing a decent pair of high heels. She’s taller, her posture is altered somewhat to better accentuate her figure, and she can develop a more sophisticated walk while wearing high heels. There are some downsides, however. High heels are responsible for a host of health problems that can cause significant pain and suffering later in life. If you frequently wear high heels, then this article is for you. Certainly, it is neither likely or desirable to rid the world of high heels altogether. But it is important to realize and understand the health ramifications of consistent and long term wear. Knowing the dangers now can help you to choose more wisely in the future, which can help you to suffer less later in life.

Billions of dollars are spent around the world on fashion every year. Shoes are no small part of this.

The primary danger to wearing high heels is that the weight of your body is unnaturally and unevenly distributed. There is a lot of extra pressure put on the inside of your knees when wearing high heels. Much more than our bodies were designed for. The knees are an area that is at risk in many women for developing arthritis. If it is over stressed, it may increase the chances of developing arthritis later in life.

54 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

The second danger is that the calf muscle is at risk of being shortened. While wearing high heels gives shape to your lower legs, this may come at a cost. The cost of a shortened calf muscle is much tighter Achilles tendon, which can cause heal problems later in life. The Achilles tendon attaches the calf muscle to the heel bone, and when damaged can create an enormous amount of pain. The third area for danger is the incredible amount of pressure put on the smaller toes. With all the weight shifting downward, there is an incredible amount of pressure on the smaller metatarsal bones of the smaller toes. The body can react by increasing the size of the nerves within those toes, which can later cause a great deal of pain later in life. With frequent and extended wear, the smaller toes can be physically contracted, and will be permanently disfigured. Billions of dollars are spent around the world on fashion every year. Shoes are no small part of this. You don’t have to go far to find a shoe store selling the latest fashions. To expect people to simply stop wearing high heels would be unrealistic, and ridiculous. It is realistic, however, to know the risks of wearing high heels. If you wear them too often, the benefits you receive today may be overshadowed by the pain and suffering you’ll receive in the future.

tips on how to wear them comfortably If wearing high heels is like a religion to you and you are not willing to give them up. Here, we give you some tips on how to avoid foot and leg pain. This won’t necessarily prevent wear and tear to your joints; it will simply make walking easier.

1

When purchasing high heels, be sure that they give enough room in the front of the shoe to not cramp your foot. The best size heels are medium height. Shop for heels in the afternoon, when your feet are a little swollen from being on them a few hours.

2

5

When wearing high heels, keep good posture. Standing up straight will give you better balance and prevent strain to your legs and feet. Walk the same way your would with flats, with each step you take, place your heel on the ground first, and then the ball of your foot/toes.

6

Look for a shoe with ample padding in the soles. Make sure that the inner soles are very soft. Spend a little extra for the most comfortable high heels.

If you are wearing heels for hours, it’s important to give your feet a rest and take weight off the ball of your foot. Sit down take off shoes, wiggle your toes and rotate your ankles.

3

7

Purchase and insert a pair of gel pads in the front of each shoe. Again, be sure you still have ample space at the front of the shoe so that toes are not cramped. Gel pads and heel cushions allow your feet to feel more comfortable for long periods of wear.

4

Before wearing your high heels, make sure that toenails are trimmed enough to not push against the front of the shoe. This is an important step, as your feet will slide forward during the time your feet are in the shoe, and long toenails can lead to harmed and even bruised toes.

If you’ve followed every instruction, but your feet are still hurting at the end of the day. In this situation, pull out those emergency flats and slip them on.Toss your heels in your bag or car and breath a sigh of relief now that you’ve come off those shoes.

8

Upon arriving home, take your heels off immediately. If your feet are hurting, soak them in warm water for a few minutes, dry feet thoroughly afterwards. Then you can elevate them on a stack of pillows. Remember to always pamper your feet after a long day in heels.

nyone who has trouble sleeping understands how difficult it can be to function without the proper amount of sleep. In addition to avoiding the next-day grogginess, there are many benefits of a good night’s sleep.

reduce stress When you do not sleep enough, the body becomes stressed out. When this happens it increases the overall stress level of the person suffering from insomnia. It is sort of a catch 22. One of the remedies for insomnia is reducing stress yet one of the problems associated with insomnia is an increase in stress. Talk to your doctor about ways to reduce stress so that you can get all of the benefits of a good night’s sleep. If you’ve experienced ineffective sleep longer than a two-week period, experts agree you have a sleep problem that requires help. 58 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

lose weight There are so many diets that promise to help you lose weight. Could it be true that spending a little more time in dreamland could actually help you shed some extra pounds? Yes! Studies show a link between weight gain and insomnia. A lack of sleep goes hand in hand with a lack of energy – not a new concept, but perhaps you’ve grown used to your daily levels of energy and don’t notice that you could gain more. Not only do we accomplish less with less sleep, we also don’t burn as many calories. When you sleep less, your body may not be able to metabolize carbohydrates as well, which leads to an increased storage of fats and higher levels of blood sugar which is a trigger for serious health problems such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type II diabetes. If you get between seven and nine hours of sleep each night, it can be one factor that helps you lose weight or maintain your weight. Sleep is starting to sound pretty important now, isn’t it?

sleep trivia

. A person will die from total lack of sleep sooner than from starvation. Death will occur about 10 days without sleep, while starvation takes a few weeks.

. The phrase “sleep tight” originated when mattresses were set upon ropes woven through the bed frame. To remedy sagging ropes, one would use a bed key to tighten the rope.

. A dog sleeps 10-12 hours daily, a cat sleeps for 12 hours, and a giraffe sleeps only about 2 hours a day. Humans spend about a third of their lives sleeping.

. You burn more calories sleeping than you do watching TV.

. Most people have about five dreams a night.

. Before electric lighting was common in homes, people averaged ten hours a night in sleep. Today, most adults sleep between six and seven hours.

. 40% of the adult population snores . Experts say one of the most alluring sleep distractions is the 24-hour accessibility of the Internet. Sources: www.beddingcare.com

There are studies that show a link between insomnia and high blood pressure. High blood pressure is one of the factors that increase the risk for heart disease.

general health

Also, as mentioned above, those suffering from insomnia are also at a greater risk of being overweight which is another heart disease risk factor.

There have been many studies that link lack of sleep to a number of medical conditions. While not all of the studies were conclusive, one thing is certain: The benefits of a good night’s sleep are many. It is better for your physical health and your emotional well being to get the right amount of sleep each night.

more productive One of the more obvious and immediate benefits of a good night’s sleep is that you are much more likely to be productive the next day. Even one night in which you do not get enough sleep can impact your productivity and ability to concentrate. Also, you cannot make up for several night’s lack of sleep by trying to cram

If you are having trouble sleeping, you should talk to your doctor about possible remedies. The suggested remedy may be a simple lifestyle change, stress reduction or, in some cases, prescription sleep aids. The benefits of a good night’s sleep are numerous enough that you should make battling insomnia one of your top priorities. August/September 2012_Celebritynights.com_ 59

Cuban cigar IS THE ELITE PRODUCT

T

The best quality cigars are hand-made. The finest and the expert cigar makers are capable of making identical cigars everyday. The rollers help in keeping the Cohiba cigars moist and wet, especially the wrapper. The Cohiba cigar makers use crescent-shaped knives in order to form the filler. Once these Cohiba cigars are rolled and made, they are kept to dry. Finally, the cigar makers keep them in the wooden form and the uncapped ends of these cigars are cut to get a uniform size. Now the cigar is completely ready and they are kept at 21째C (70째F) and in 70% relative humidity. Once these cigars are bought, it can be kept for storage purposes in a (humidor) wooden box. In this case, temperature conditions can be appropriately adjusted. Nonetheless, if you feel that re-humidification is necessary for the tobacco, you can always do it. However, the drying of a cigar leads to loss of the original taste of a cigar. Some of the good quality cigars use various kinds of tobacco for the filler and the wrapper. Long filler cigars are generally considered to be of the most superior quality and they use long leaves throughout. However, these cigars usually use a thread variety of tobacco leaf which is called a binder. This is used between the wrapper and the filler. This initiates the cigar makers to make cigars with more attractive leaves as wrappers.

why is date night important? By Debbie Leigh Fraser

Almost half of marriages these days fail. That’s a bit daunting for anyone thinking of entering into a marriage.

W

hy? Can it be prevented? I think a lot of people put an awful lot of effort into their relationship whilst dating, but after marriage, and children, we fall into a bit of a mundane routine. Go to work, eat dinner, bath the kids, put the kids to bed, then sit in front of the computer or TV and often fall asleep, without having a conversation other than what the kids have been up to during the day. Does it sound familiar? That’s why I think a date night for every married couple is a necessity, if not every week then at least once a month. Marriage relationships are dynamic, they are alive and always changing. They need to be fed, stimulated and nourished to stay alive. After several years into a marriage, some of us may feel that we know our spouse like the back of our hand. On the flipside, there are those who complain that in spite of being together all these years, they feel they don’t know their spouse at all. “I’m really married to a stranger” is a declaration often uttered to a therapist or marriage counselor. By organizing date nights, we’ll have a sixth sense into what makes our spouse tick. When we dated the first time, we had a long mental list of things we wanted to know about our significant other. There was consuming interest about what the other ate, bought, thought, felt, etc. It’s vital that we keep that interest alive. Curiosity won’t kill the cat, far from it, but it will kill the passion if we don’t exercise it. What stops a lot of people from having a date night often is, they can’t afford a babysitter, or can’t afford to go out. But by putting a limit on what you spend on a date night can actually make the whole experience more special. It’s easy, if you have the money, to book a beautiful restaurant, send flowers or buy an expensive box of chocolates but if you have a budget of just say $30 for the night, you really need to put a lot of thought into what you can do that’s both special but also inexpensive. It is so much nicer when you receive a gift where a lot of thought has gone into it, a gift voucher is easy, but not a lot of thought has gone into that idea. What can you do with $30 for an evening for two people. A beautiful walk along the beach, throw a blanket on the ground, lay back and watch the stars – totally free.

80 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

Pack a picnic with a nice bottle of wine, some good music and head off to a park. Go for a walk along the river, then sit in a cosy little cafe with a good cup of coffee and a delicious cake. It really is endless with a bit of thought. We’ve got to admit that the arrival of children robs us of our time together. There are cries in the night that awaken us because the child had a nightmare, and everything around tends to make us tired, arguments with teenagers drain our energies, and there’s a string of doctors’ appointments, school activities, the occasional problems with curfew and hanging out with the wrong crowd. These can get us all tangled up inside, forgetting that there’s also a marriage that needs looking after. So what about not having a babysitter? There are other couples out there that would also like to have a date night, swap babysitting with them, have their children over for a sleepover or vice versa. Start a date night babysitting circle in your neighborhood. Marriage isn’t the be all and end all, it has to be worked at like everything else in life, so have some fun and rediscover again why you fell in love. Once in awhile we need to feel that the adrenaline in us is still pumping and is in abundant supply. Do you remember the first time love hit you and you felt that every nerve of your being tingled with excitement? We need to feel that excitement many times over regardless of how long we’ve been married: five, ten, twelve, twenty-five.There’s absolutely nothing wrong with breathing life into a stagnant stream. Don’t ever get sucked into believing that your marriage feels like a “recycled” union of two tired and bored souls.

Marriage relationships are dynamic, they are alive and always changing.

INTERESTING DATING FACTS •

People are most open to • meeting someone in schools, malls and coffee houses.

84 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

Most people can tell if they’re attracted to you within three seconds of meeting you.

If you’re considering cooking a meal for your date, wait until at least the third date.

A great way to show someone you’re interested in them is to mirror what they do.

ten ways to be positive in the workplace of life By BZ Riger-Hull

There is a growing volume of research that shows’ staying positive is better for your health; you can cope better with stress, relationships and many more things.

1

attitude is everything

It is the lens that you look through to experience your reality. Take a look at your attitude. Are you negative? Do you color everything with fear or need? How will your life change if you change your attitude? Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind, thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful result. Whatever the mind expects, it finds. Not everyone accepts or believes in positive thinking. Some consider the subject as just nonsense, and others scoff at people who believe and accept it.

86 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

2

treat others with respect

Treat people with kindness and respect. Everyone that you encounter should be valued and treated with courtesy. Acknowledge that they have feelings and their own perspective on life, they may be different than yours but they are also valid. Respect is a fundamental ethical value, but its moral implications are not always obvious. The essence of respect is to show solemn regard for the worth of people, including oneself. We have no ethical duty to hold all people in high esteem or admire them, but we are morally obligated to treat everyone with respect, regardless of who they are and what they have done. It is not that every person deserves to be treated with respect.

3

avoid comparisons

Whether you are looking down at the people who have not mastered special strengths or up at people who may be more experienced or accomplished. Constantly comparing yourself keeps the focus on the other person instead of what you can do, want to do, and are good at doing. Look inside and improve from there. If you focus your mind to compare your life to other people´s lives you will always find someone new above you. And your self-esteem will take a beating. One of the big reasons we compare our lives is to get approval. And in general wanting approval from others is a big obstacle in both personal growth and living a happy life.

4

be responsible for actions

Take responsibility for your work, actions, and life… Don’t pass the buck. Don’t make excuses. Take responsibility; acknowledge a mistake, fix it and learn from it. Don’t beat yourself up about the mistake, or hang onto past mistakes. Resolve them, own them and move forward. Life consists of each day. Not just the big events sometime in the future. So don’t forget to take responsibility for the little things today too. Don’t postpone it. Taking responsibility for your life can be hard and taxing on you. It’s not something you master over the weekend. So you might as well get started with the it right now.

6

respect other’s time & boundaries

8

Take notice of the people around you; co-workers, customers, clients, vendors, and other people you come in contact with each day. Acknowledge what they are contributing and don’t take them for granted. Thank them for being there, for their help, their value to the relationship, and for a job well done.

Respect other people’s time and boundaries. If you are having a bad day, feeling stuck, or you are just enjoying procrastinating. Make sure you don’t use that as an excuse to waste other people’s time or cross their boundaries. Time is the most valuable thing we have. If you feel like wasting your time, that’s your decision, but don’t waste other people’s time.

To empower someone, you have to make the person feel good about himself/herself. And the simplest way to achieve that is to express your appreciation for everything that person does for you, large or small, it doesn’t matter. Expressing gratitude to others in the end will empower you as well.

Next time you see a person in your daily lives, please take two minutes to think about their feelings and respect their boundaries. Respect is impor tant because if you don’t respect other people how can other people respect you.

9 5

keep your boundaries

Keep this in mind when someone offers a put down. When they cross your boundaries. Your worth comes from you; your being, your true self. They cannot change your intrinsic value unless you let them. Make it clear that what they are doing doesn’t work for you, keep your boundaries and move forward. Be clear on what you will tolerate and what you will not tolerate. You have your own personal space and it’s your perogative to protect your space. By drawing the boundaries, even if just mentally, you are clearer of the kind of behaviors to expect from others. If you don’t do so, it’s easy for you to be pushed over by others, especially since people tend not to be conscious of personal boundaries.

7

notice people around you

enjoy the little things

Enjoy the little things that happen in your day. The compliment someone gave you on the insight you shared at the staff meeting. The big smile the customer gave you when they picked up their order. By recognizing your accomplishments even if they seem small or routine, you are acknowledging a job well done. Life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and thoughts.

make list of accomplishments

Too often people make huge to-do lists and then beat themselves up when they have only accomplished a few things on the list. Keep your master list of what you want to accomplish so you don’t forget things that are important to you, but keep a second list you update daily.

10

Each day keep a specific list of all the things you did and how much time you spent on each thing. You’ll know where the day went, and you can feel good about what you did accomplish and see where you need to focus, to get what’s most important to you, done. Believe or not this is a useful tip and you will be amazed of how much time you will save. The key words to remember are time management.

have positive control

Coming from a positive attitude and perspective, you will feel more in control. Consider each job and interaction as your best performance, rather than just running them together as par t of your day. You will see the impact you have and the value you offer. People will be attracted to this. They will notice how well you do things and they will truly value you. You don’t want to experience your life as one who cannot deal with what comes, but rather as someone who accepts what is and has a positive attitude. Make it a point to relate to positive people, those who have control of their life. Positive attitudes can truly be contagious. August/September 2012_Celebritynights.com_ 87

Things guys do

that annoy you Sure, your man is great. But even the best guy in the world has habits that are scream-inducing. Here, experts decipher eight annoying things that guys do.

1

FACIAL HAIR ON MEN

Men grow hair in places they’d sooner not. As they get older it starts sprouting out of ears and nose and…I have a short beard, but man it grows so fast. Can’t be a week with out shaving or else you look like a bum. Do you know how it feels scraping a metal razor across your face everyday! I have so many other things I need to do other than spend a whole hour everyday looking at mirror scraping a razor across my face. Some women hate it, some women love facial hair, but truth be told the majority don’t really like it.

SELECTIVE HEARING

92 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

Men all over the world have sat in front of a television and watched a program while their wife or girlfriend attempted to initiate a conversation with them. It is known that men are not good at multitasking, as soon as your start talking to him, a battle in his head starts and its you vs that awesome TV show for men. It never ends well. Apart from eating chips, adjusting the privates and watching the TV, These “battles” happened in other situations too, like when driving, eating, or reading. Pretending to listen to her or selectively listening to her is more annoying to women than just not listening at all

MEN TURN OFF THEIR BRAINS

This is something men are good at, focusing at one thing only, like I said in the previous number men are bad at mutlitasking. This is reasonable since men had to do all the hunting back in primative times. Men had to focus all their attention on just one prey in order to be successful. This trait has been passed over the generations to the modern homosapien. So it’s something we don’t do on purpose, switching off from whatever I am doing, or whatever is happening and go into space, or my ‘nothing box’. Much of the work and achievement of men comes from this narrow view. Having spent all day doing this, men just want to empty out when they get home and think of absolutely nothing.

4

MEN AND THEIR EGOS OK, it’s true, men are bound up in their ego! The classic story from all women, it seems, is the one where the man is driving and reading the map (because we all know women can’t!) but still manages to get lost. He drives around for hours saying that he knows he is almost there. The problem is he doesn’t stop and ask directions from people around, that would mean admitting he is lost. Men are bound up in their masculinity, or lack of it. They live by power and strength and they believe in hierarchy. The pecking order is achieved by winning small battles on the road to success. This only happens if men refuse to admit defeat. He plays the game of chicken in life. The first one to falter loses. Road rage is a classic case of this.

5

MEN SCRATCH THEIR BALLS

We scratch our balls! We can’t deny it! Women find it offensive and rude, often they also find it far too suggestive. The truth is they cannot understand why we spend so much time scratching. They accuse us of having to keep checking the area there, of being obsessed with them. The truth is they have no idea what it’s like having your ‘crown jewels’ hanging around between your legs. I know there is a good physical reason why we were designed this way, but I am sure god could have done a better job of it. You see they get caught in awkward ways, they end up in uncomfortable positions, they get squashed and pushed around. Every time we walk or sit or stand or move or…. they move and get caught. They itch, they feel sensitive, they are just a nuisance outside of sex. We have to live with them all the time, though.

6

MEN SNORE Guilty as charged. I do it and I wake up the whole household when I do it. My father was a bad case as well. I remember that my mother used to get up very early in the morning when she could stand it no more. She could always be found downstairs in the kitchen drinking a cup of tea when she should have been in bed. It is a fact that men do it far more than women and that most men seem to have no idea what to do about it, other than annoy their partner.

7

MEN READ ON THE TOILET

Why do men do this? I have no answer other than they do. I know, I do. Maybe I want to detach from what I am doing, maybe I want escape from the outside world, maybe I am just bored sitting there. I don’t get bored easily but I don’t spend a lot of time doing nothing. I enjoy reading in the ‘loo’. In my earlier years I had a collection of joke books in there that could be read in small bites.

8

MEN ARE SO LOGICAL

Isn’t it great! Aren’t you relieved that at least someone is logical! How would you get on in life if everyone just dived in and followed their intuitive response. Men are reputed to be more leftbrained, more linear in their thinking. On average this may seem to be true because much of the work that men do is linear and logical. This view denies the large numbers of creative men for whom ideas and concepts are the currency of their mind. I find that in my working, and thinking, life I am both. I love logic and studied maths as a result. Yet I found that in studying maths it was the wild, conceptual side of pure maths that I loved.

Law of Attraction

Five Ingredients For The Best Wealth Affirmation

T

his article talks about an uncommon way to wealth using an uncommon approach to creating a wealth affirmation. First, let’s talk about the average “wealth affirmation.” What comes to mind when you’re thinking of wealth and building the foundation for wealth using the Law of Attraction? The first thing that usually comes to mind is to have the feeling of “rolling in dough” and being able to buy anything “your little heart desires.” A wealth affirmation in line with this frame of mind would be something like, “I love my new Jaguar” and to put up a picture of that vehicle on your vision board. While this external approach has been known to work, it is rather difficult to sustain long enough to get the desired object, in this case, the Jaguar, because it’s “single-faceted and superficial,” rather than “multi-faceted and deeply driven.”

When you want to invoke the Law of Attraction in manifesting wealth, you’ll want to be sure you have a wealth affirmation that comes from different angles and does five things: 1. FINDS TRUE DESIRE 2. MOTIVATES 3. GIVES PERMISSION 4. INITIATES ENERGY 5. REMOVES BLOCKS TO RECEIVING 96 _Celebritynights.com_August/September 2012

Find true desire. When building the foundation for wealth and creating your wealth affirmation, a key point is to identify the root emotion behind wanting something. In other words, in learning how to manifest what you want, you first have to really “find out exactly what you want on an emotional level.” For example, if you want a luxury car, ask yourself if you want it for “ego purposes,” or for “luxury because you deserve it” purposes. No matter what the reason, once you identify the true emotion behind getting the material object, you have the emotional charge to invoke the Law of Attraction and discover the secret of wealth. Motivates. Hope motivates you to action, so you want to create a wealth affirmation that gives you hope. Once your mind feels hopeful and motivated, your mind will also figure out how to attract wealth. Gives permission. A good wealth affirmation also gives you permission to feel “allowed to receive.” My wealth plan always includes a lot of money affirmations and wealth quotes that make me feel deserving and receptive. Initiates physical energy. Another good ingredient when doing wealth affirmations is giving yourself better health to fulfill the tasks that you’ve become motivated to do once you have hope and permission.

REMOVES BLOCKS TO RECEIVING. Lastly, a crucial part of learning how to attract wealth and building the foundation for wealth is to release deeply held, yet negative, beliefs about having money and material things. While this may sound like an uncommon way to wealth, this actually opens the door wide open to allow you to receive money and wealth. The best way to do this, although also uncommon, is to re-program your subconscious thoughts around money by using subliminal audios that specifically help you remove blocks to receiving money and wealth. Writing wealth affirmations and building the foundation for wealth is multifaceted because when you find your true desires, give yourself hope, permission and energy, you’ll have the motivation to make things happen. Once you have subliminally removed blocks to receiving what you want, you’ve “blasted the door wide open” to allowing the Law of Attraction to respond to your wishes. While this sounds like an uncommon way to wealth, it is the best way to create a multi-faceted, emotionally driven wealth affirmation that invokes the Law of Attraction and helps you discover the secret of wealth because you’ve tapped into the real reason, motivation and ability to obtain it by finding true desire and removing blocks to getting what you want.
