SPRING / SUMMER 2019 URBAANI KASVU The strict lines of urban architecture and the spontaneous quality of city vegetation form the basis for Kaiko’s SS19 collection URBAANI KASVU. From fluid angles of weeds squeezing their way through unexpected cracks on the pavement to somewhat rigid yet soothing feel of city planning. Softly curved seams offer a subtle sense of movement and look fresh when juxtaposed next to the minimalistic outlines of the collection. The unisex design focuses on a sense of comfort and familiarity through clean and strong lines, which are updated with modern and exciting twists. The collection experiments with layering and novel lengths, thus adding surprise and lighthearted cheer to the clothes. The overall look, however, is pure and functional: to fit the Scandinavian taste. Therefore, ease and practicality are key through the season.
URBAANI KASVU collection is designed for children aged between 3 and 7 years, for both girls and boys. These clothes want to challenge the outdated rules that govern what small boys and girls are supposed to wear and, most importantly, grow up to be.
The children are eager to explore their surroundings: often climbing park trees and getting overly excited about traveling on a tram. The little things inspire them. They explore, they question, they ponder. Everything interests these little humans: new foods, politics, mousetraps. These children are fortunate to have parents who are painfully aware of the damage their choices can cause to the planet and its people. Therefore, they want to emphasize the importance of environmentally friendly and ethical choices in life to their children, too. In the lives of the busy parents in the hectic city, easy clothing for their children is all they want. All the pieces in URBAANI KASVU collection are effortless to both care and wear. Since the clothes go well together, creating beautiful and practical outfit combinations is easy. Their children are used to riding everywhere on the luggage rack of a bicycle. The entire family pitches in at their local community garden where they grow their own vegetables. They travel together and attend cultural events to teach the children about diversity. To be kind and compassionate towards others. Mothers and fathers just want to guarantee their offspring a future world where they can still be inspired by the little things.
