Australia’s
Premier Digital Event
Pause Fest is Australia’s premier digital event, aimed at supporting and showcasing the best in creative and tech from Australia and all over the world. In 2014, Pause lit up Federation Square, with over 6,000 people flocking to the innovation capital of Australia. From humble beginnings in 2011, Pause Fest has rapidly grown to become one of the most anticipated events on the bustling Australian festival calendar. Pause Fest attracts a powerful mix of industry professionals, startups and early adopters from a broad range of digital disciplines. The event represents a unique opportunity for locals to connect, collaborate and launch projects alongside global leaders and visionary brands. Each Pause festival tells a story through a unique theme. In 2015, the theme is Pure.
Fed Square is proud to continue its support of Pause Fest in 2015. Pause Fest has quickly transformed from its humble beginnings as a series of films on the Big Screen to a precinctwide celebration with highprofile industry guests and an impressive array of sponsors and we are so pleased to see that Pause Fest has truly harnessed the support of our Creative Program to realise this transformation. It is a shining example of the outcomes Fed Square’s Creative Program seeks to achieve. That is, to grow and nurture local talent, springboard it onto an international platform while creating unique and engaging experiences for visitors at Fed Square. CHRIS BROOKS CEO Fed Square Pty Ltd
It is my pleasure to welcome Australia’s premier digital event, Pause Fest, to Melbourne in 2015.
“Be too complex to categorise. It’s fun, very productive and it makes life richer. Specialisation is for insects” - Tim Ferriss
Over the coming days our Knowledge City will host some of the highest achievers in creative digital industries: from leaders in advertising, motion and web, to gaming and start-ups.
In just a few short years, every single piece of information in history will be accessible to almost every single human on earth. Questions and answers will be flowing freely between everyday objects, making current generations of ‘smart’ devices seem archaic in comparison.
A unique platform for people to meet, inspire, learn, launch and collaborate worldwide, Pause Fest is an essential guide to digital culture and the future of knowledge in our cities. We are proud to support Pause Fest and wish you well for this year’s festival.
When information is everywhere, context and experience will be the only thing that matters. Which means following your curiosity at events like Pause is the best investment you’ll ever make.
HON ROBERT DOYLE Lord Mayor
Thank you for not being an insect. MURRAY GALBRAITH Programming & Partnerships
In its fifth year now, Pause Fest has never been so diverse. It’s a honeypot made for hackers, hustlers and hipsters, the kind of people that would challenge the status quo. Disruptors. Makers. Breakers. Progressives. They might be the crazy ones, the visionaries of their own endeavours. Pause will continue to attract the world’s most innovative digital talent to Melbourne, uniting them all into a world leading digital ecosystem. Startup smart in 2015, see you all down at the tech hub of Melbourne, the Fed Square. GEORGE HEDON Founder

PAUSE FEST 2015 POWERED BY BEACON TECHNOLOGY
“BEACON TECHNOLOGY ONE OF NINE TRENDS THAT WILL SHAPE START-UPS IN 2015” - BRW
ABOUT BEACONS
Beacons are small wireless devices that broadcast radio signals using Bluetooth Smart, an intelligent and power friendly version of the Bluetooth that has been around for years. Smartphones that are nearby are able to listen for these signals and can trigger proximity based experiences via an app. BEACONS AT PAUSE
The Pause mobile app is powered by beacons that have been strategically positioned around Federation Square and other participating venues. Download the app and you’ll receive notifications and special content based on your exact location. For example, alerts about nearby points of interest, content to support interactive installations and special offers at Pause parties. ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE
Created by Pause Tech Partner, Inlight, Lighthouse uses beacons to deliver content and experiences based on proximity to things in the physical world. It’s an end to end management platform that lets you manage beacons, schedule content and view real-world analytics.
Swing past the Startup Expo (Atrium) for a live beacon demo and to learn how beacon technology could power up your business. www.lighthouse.io
