Calling all kitten lovers! We four orphaned friends are ready to find forever homes. I’m Paulie, the Siamese mix boy on the cover, and sitting next to me is Marco He lost one eye due to an infection, but he’s healthy as can be and is your typically active kitten. On this page in the middle is Felix, an all-black boy, and down below is Lizzie, a blue-grey girl. We’re happy, playful kittens who are thriving at our foster home in Wilmington. We are snugglers and love to purr! At 10 to 12-weeks-old, we are fixed, up to date on kitten vaccinations and litterbox-trained. To meet us, simply text or call our Adopt-An-ANGEL foster mom at 910-200-3772
Our thanks to Wiggle Butts Photography for giving us this chance to be seen by you. We’re even more adorable in purr-son! ♥

Wilmington's Newest Doggie Day Spa and Salon Offers Basic to Luxury Services to Accommodate Every Pets Needs.
Conveniently located on Judges Road off of Market Street, our beautiful spa and salon is designed to relax even the most anxious pets and provide a calming atmosphere that your dog will love!
My friends call me Midnight and I’m a Labradorable mix. Know what my favorite thing is? Giving kisses to my person! Don’t you wish that was you? They say I am super sweet and I may be a little chunky. Whaaat?! But I love walks so I can go on walks with you to keep us both in shape. I am the perfect age at about 6-years-old. That is old enough to know right from wrong but young enough to have fun together. In addition to walks, I love to play ball and squeaky toys are my favorite. Of course, I am spayed and vaccinated and on heartworm preventative so I am ready to move in today! Like right now, TODAY! Call/text Sean at 910-918-5118 or Silvia at 910-876-0539 with A Shelter Friend to learn more about me and how we can meet up.
I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess and beach dogs everywhere.
I’m Smokey, the Irish Wolfadoodle! What’s that, you ask? Well, I’m a cross between the Irish Wolfhound and Standard Poodle, which means I’m large, loving and loyal. I am the sweetest boy who just wants affection and attention. I am good with children, good with dogs, good with cats, house-trained, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Wow, I check all the boxes, don’t I? I guess you’re wondering why I’m at a shelter. Well, my former family had a fence that I could easily jump, so my next family must have a fence that is 6 to 8-feet tall. Won’t you come to the shelter and get to know me? We can take a walk on the grounds and see if we’re made to be best friends. I’m at Pender County Humane Society, so please call 910-259-7022 for visiting hours or any other info.
I am sponsored by the Furry Friends Re-sale Shop in honor and memory of all the animals who've passed through the doors of Pender County Humane Society.

COASTAL CANINE RESCUE
COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (CARE)
My name is Mira and I'm a 4-year-old German Shepherd. I am a very calm, sweet girl, but I'm aloof until I get to know you. I would do best in a calm, quiet home and I get along with all of my foster brothers and sisters. For more info or if you’d like to meet me, call 910-470-5554 or email coastalcaninerescue@ec.rr.com. Please visit www.facebook.com/CoastalCanineRescue to see more pictures of me and other amazing pups looking for homes. ♥
RESCUECONNECT
I'm Mickey! I was surrendered to the shelter for no apparent reason (because I'm wonderful)! I am around 1-year-old, 22 pounds, neutered, heartworm negative, and current on all vaccines. I do well in a crate (after some short grumbling since I'd RATHER be with my people). I am housetrained and good with small kids and cats! I am a little intimidated by large dogs and could use some guidance on interactions with other dogs my size - a family with some dog experience to help me get settled would be ideal for me. For more info, please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call 910-302-7290 to schedule a meet and greet with me. ♥
PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM
Hi, everyone! My name is Colby I'm a 2 to 3-year-old English Coonhound boy, 54 pounds, and I’m as smart as I am handsome! As a matter of fact, I'm a recent graduate! I just completed the prison training program through Monty's Home's Pawsitive Partners Prison Program. To be selected, I had to first pass temperament testing, and now I’ve learned basic obedience skills which will make me a joy to live with. All I need now is my forever home. To meet me, please fill out an adoption application at www.montyshome.org. You can also email adopt@montsyhome.org or call Gail at 732-693-8462 with any questions. ♥
I’m Azalea, an adorable little goof who is full of SO much personality and love. My human friends can’t wait to see me living my best life in my forever home! At 9-months-old, I’m a spayed Hound mix girl who came to CARE with Parvo but, with the love, care and medical expertise of the veterinary staff at Atlantic Animal Hospital, I have made a full recovery! Now, all that’s left is to find me the perfect home. To meet me, please call 910-256-2624 or email carewilmington@yahoo.com. ♥
KITTY PAWTROL
Hello, my name is Adam and I am looking for my forever home. I am a complete lover and cuddler but I also really like to play. I am told that I play hard and love hard! I do find myself getting bored so I would do best with another cat or cats to play with. I am on the bigger side and very athletic. My foster mom tells me that I make her laugh a lot. I don't like to be by myself, which is why I would also prefer having some kitty or doggy friends to keep me company when I'm not hanging out with my human. I am always ready to meet people so I hope someone out there is wanting give me a chance! I’m already neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea medicine. Please email kittypawtrol@yahoo.com, call 812-598-0130 or visit us online at www.kittypawtrol.org. ♥
CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY
My name is Athena and I’m a 4-year-old, spayed female who is current on vaccinations. My siblings and I came to CAPS after our family was faced with eviction. I’m a laidback and pleasingly plump little girl. I like to be petted, and I love to hang out with my family and siblings. I would do best in a quiet home without dogs and small children. For information, please email capsrescue@yahoo.com, call 910-455-9682, or visit www.capsrescue.com. ♥

HAMILTON’S HEALING HEARTS
Hi, my name is Hannah and I was born on April 18, 2023. I’m a pretty Tabby with white toes and white on my nose. I am friendly and playful. I enjoy being petted but I don’t like being picked up. I would be most content in a quieter home. I like to watch what is going on and will come to you for attention and rubs. I do well with other friendly cats but I haven’t met a dog or young kids yet. I’m fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and combo tested negative. Could you provide me with a forever home and promise to only keep me indoors? If so, I hope you will visit www.operationtopcatnc.org and submit an adoption application. You may also call 910-545-9885 or email lovemycats721@gmail.com for more info. ♥
RUFFIAN FOUNDATION
Hello, my name is Tang and I’m a 3-month-old little ball of spunk. I came to rescue after I was found in someone’s yard. I’m still a little shy but I’m coming around and love to play with other kitties. I will soon be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped so that you can adopt me. Do you have room in your family for an adorable orange companion? If so, please call 910-271-5170 or email hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥
Hello, my name is Moe. I am a medium-haired, 9-year-old declawed boy. For years, I was an emotional support animal for my beloved human mom. But a few months ago, she became very ill and has to have a lot of care. She wanted to be sure that I would be cared for after she is gone. I am calm and gentle and love to be petted. I am fine with other cats and I enjoy company. I am also neutered, vaccinated and litterboxtrained. Won’t you consider giving me a home where I can live out my years with a human all my own? Call Sharon at 910-262-8890 and let’s set up a day and time to meet. ♥
WAGON TAILS FARM
I’m Reese and I’m as sweet as my name. I’m almost 1-year-old and very loving and playful with people and other dogs. I am crate-trained and doing well with house-training. I love playing and running outside and have even started playing with toys! I dream of having a family who will show me plenty of love. I am already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My heartworm test came back positive and I’ve started treatment. My adoption will require a contract that ensures this treatment is continued with the cost of treatment covered by the rescue. To apply for adoption, please visit us online at www.wagontailsfarm.org/adopt and start the application process. For more info, please call Wagon Tails Farm Rescue at 910-375-3105. ♥
My name is Callie and I love car rides and other big dogs. I’m super sweet, I’m heartworm negative, and I’ve been spayed and vaccinated. I’m playful and would do well with an active family in a cat-free home. I’m a Pit Bull mix who is approximately 3-years-old. Will you give me the chance to love you? For more information or to adopt me, please call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥
My name is Cucumber and I’m a 5 to 6-month-old Pointer and Aussie mix (and maybe some Labrador, too). I was on my last day at a rural municipal shelter when Hamilton’s Healing Hearts scooped me up. I look bigger in this picture of me - I’m much smaller in person. I love every animal I meet and I even made friends with a pony at the farm. I will soon be neutered and microchipped and I’m up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. For more info or to adopt, call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥
I’m Neko, an Aussie mix who came all the way here from Louisiana. I was pulled from a shelter where I’d run out of time. I’m about 1½ to 2-years of age, neutered, on heartworm prevention and microchipped. I have also been dog-tested and have done great with them because I’m very submissive.
I’m a cuddle bug who hopes you’ll call 910-271-5170 or email hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com to meet me. ♥
I’m Morris, the Selfie Cat, and I think this picture is perfect. I’ve got that relaxed, not trying too hard look… impressive, don’t you think? The truth is though, I’m longing to be adopted! At just 1-year-old, I’m an extremely sweet Orange Tabby boy. I check all the boxes: affectionate, happy, curious, playful, loving, friendly…the list just goes on and on! I am also neutered, up to date on vaccines and litterbox-trained. I tested negative for FIV and FIP which is very good news. Now, I'm just waiting for a lap to call my very own. So what do I have to do next...FaceTime you? Why not make it easy and come visit me at Pender County Humane Society. For visiting hours or any other info, please call 910-259-7022. We can take some selfies together!
I am sponsored in loving memory of Milo, Rocco and Don Johnson, who are loved and missed every day!!!
Hey there, I'm Bokhee! I may be a 60 pound Pit mix girl, but don't let my size fool you - I'm just a big ol' lovebug at heart. Sure, I'm going through heartworm treatment right now, but that doesn't stop me from wagging my tail and giving sloppy kisses to everyone I meet! At 3-years-old, I know how to sit like a pro, especially when there are treats involved (yum!). Life may throw some curveballs, but I’m wagging my tail through it all, knowing that soon enough, I'll be good as new and ready to spread even more love to my forever family. Please come meet me today at Paws Place! No appointment is necessary, and visiting hours are on Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.
I am sponsored by The Tree House Gang at Saltscapes Landscaping. Thank you!
◄SIAMESE
LOVERS! My name is Juneau (A489474) and I’m a senior boy who is so bewildered by my presence here in a shelter. I just want to go back to a home setting with loving people! I am very sweet, friendly and laid-back and I’ll be an excellent companion. I am neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and I get along with other cats. My sister was just adopted and I’m hoping it’s my turn soon! ♥
►You can see by my face that I’m probably the most handsome Orange Tabby in this state, but did you know there is something else distinctive about me? I have three legs! That’s right, my left front leg is missing, but that doesn’t stop me from interacting with you and with toys. I walk, run and jump just fine and am an extremely sweet and gentle boy. I’m just 1-year-old, neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. My ID number is A489073. I’m a treasure just waiting to be discovered! ♥
◄Just one look at me and I practically start purring, that’s how loving and affectionate I am! My name is Leia (A349565) and I’m a Tortoiseshell girl who is always making biscuits. At 8-years of age, I enjoy my cat nip and treats and I especially love having my ears and chin rubbed. Basically, though, I’m happy to be rubbed anywhere! It’s a mystery why such a gentle sweetheart like me is homeless, but I don’t dwell on it. I’m looking forward to the future with you instead! ♥
◄I’m the cutest little Pocket Pittie girl you ever did see, just 1-year-old and 30 pounds of pure love! I’m so cute prancing around the shelter yard with my short little legs, all smiling and happy, and I’m totally okay to pause my prancing for some belly rubs, of course! I’m sweet, playful and a sucker for attention. Come on over, and please bring your kids and any dogs that you may already have at home so we can meet. I’m spayed and my ID number is A486447. ♥
◄Hi there, friends! I’m a 7-month-old Shepherd/Husky mix boy who came to the shelter as a stray. I’m very sweet and friendly and would probably pal around best with another laid-back, easy-going dog. I really want to engage with my person, so a family who will give me a job to do would be awesome. Experience with my breed is required! If you have another dog or kids at home, bring them with you! My ID number is A488068 and I can wait for us to meet. ♥
►I’ve been at the shelter since the first of May! Won’t you please be the one who discovers what a great addition I’ll be to the family?
I’m a sweet, happy-go-lucky Hound mix girl who loves people, treats and playing in the sunshine! At 6-years-old, I am spayed, vaccinated and ready to be your devoted best friend. Let’s get together for a meet and greet, and if you have other dogs or kids at home, bring them along! My ID number is A486618 and I’ll be waiting to welcome you. ♥
◄It’s me, Nubby, and I’m ready to steal your heart away! I’m an adorable little guy, just 7 to 8-weeks-old, and I love everything and everybody. I am full of entertainment and will climb on you and sit on your shoulder. I love toys, playing with other kittens and cuddling with humans. I’ve begun my vaccinations and will be neutered before going home. Let’s meet! ♥
◄A total cutie-pie, that’s me, Mischief! I’m a 7 to 8-week-old sweetheart who is curious, playful and an absolute delight! I have the prettiest Calico colors and enjoy batting at toys and playing with other kittens. I’ve begun my kitten vaccines and will be spayed before going home with my new family. Come visit, fall in love, and fill out an adoption application. It goes without saying that life will be more joyful with me in it! ♥
◄I’m a Survivor!
My name is Rizbee and I was found emaciated and deserted on the roadside. Pender County Humane Society took me in, got me to a doctor, and now I’m at a healthy weight and feeling great! At 3-years of age, I’m an affectionate Pit Bull boy who loves to lay in laps and cuddle. I am neutered, vaccinated and heartworm negative, and I recently completed a month-long training program that will help me thrive in my new home. Please come by to get acquainted and find out the skills I have obtained during my training. I’d love to meet you! ♥
◄I love to be held and loved, but look at me sitting all alone in my photo. I need you here to pick me up and give me cuddles! My name is Olivia and I’m a 7 to 8-week-old kitten girl who is as sweet as they come. I play well with toys and other kittens and am up to date on my kitten vaccinations. I’ll be spayed before heading home with you, too. Come on over so I can melt your heart with my darling purrs! ♥
►We are the purrfect kitten combo - two white brothers, just 7 to 8-weeks-old. Our names are Prince and Goose and our friends at the shelter would love to see us go to a home together, but it’s not necessary as long as we each find loving families. We’ve begun our vaccination series and will be neutered prior to going home. We are friendly, loving and playful, so hop in the car as soon as you can to come and meet us! ♥
◄Get Your Lab Love Right Here! My name is Aster and I'm a 1-year-old Yellow Lab mix girl, as sweet as can be. I’m your typically happy pup, but I’m a survivor, too! Yep, I somehow ingested rat poison before coming to the shelter. Thankfully, my new friends got me emergency care and I made a full recovery! Now I am just enjoying life and waiting for my new family to walk through the door. I love to play with other dogs and kids, I enjoy going for walks, and I have a lot of fun with toys. I am also spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. Come see what a great girl I am! ♥
Hello! My name is Star and I am ready to be your BFF! I was hours away from being euthanized at an overcrowded shelter when Unforgotten Souls Rescue pulled me. Since then, I’ve been waiting to find my forever family. I would describe myself as a very good girlie. I’m low-maintenance, I love all the people and kids I’ve met, and I’m a bit of a snuggler (my foster mom says I’m a Grade A++ snuggler). Did you know dog cuddles have been scientifically proven to improve your health? You’ll most likely live to be 100 if you adopt me. For real! I may like to sneak in some occasional smoochies, too. You know, a little smoocharoo never hurt anyone. I’m a good girl though and if you don't enjoy the smoochies, you can tell me and I will listen. Oh, I walk well on a leash too, and I’m house-trained and crate-trained. In regards to my doggie friends, slow intros are a must for me. As long as I meet a nice compatible doggie and we take it slow (pack walkies, etc.), we can totally be friends. Currently I’m besties with one of my foster mom’s dogs and we play all the time. My foster mom can tell you more about it and how to set me up for success. Anyways, I’m looking forward to cuddlin… I mean, meeting you! To add me to your family, visit www.theunforgottensouls.com and click on ‘Adopt’ or you may send an email to theunforgottensouls@gmail.com for more info. To check out videos of me and our other adoptable pets, please visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/unforgottensoulsrescue.
I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of Harley, Murphy and Sophie.
I’m a beautiful Shepherd mix pup named Ariel! I came to CARE with an injury which left me with permanent coordination and balance challenges. I may fall down a little more or have a few more challenges getting up, but this does not stop me from playing and running with my puppy friends. While I try hard to be a good girl, my condition can result in an accident here and there but a good routine and lots of yard space could be a big help. I’m in need of a loving home, with a yard and hopefully other dogs or kids to play with! To meet me, call 910-256-2624 or email carewilmington@yahoo.com.
I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).
▲We are a bonded pair who would love a home together. My name is Merlin and I’m a 4-year-old Boxer mix. My very good friend is Vivian and she is a 5-year-old Lab mix. Sadly we were surrendered when our owner could no longer care for us. It’s become evident in our time here that Vivian is my emotional support buddy. The shelter promised they will do everything they can to keep us together. I am very shy until my Vivian is around, and then I follow her everywhere. As one of our volunteers said, we are two peas in a pod. We are both good-natured and friendly dogs. We know how to sit on command and take treats gently. Together, we are a wonderful pair. We are hoping to find a loving home for both of us. Part of our adoption fee has been sponsored. Yay! Do you have room in your heart and home for two good dogs? ♥
12:00 to 5:00 Tuesday - Friday 10:00 to 3:30 Saturday
◄I’m a long-haired floof who is looking for a permanent home. My name is Sheldon I’m a sweet boy who was born in a home with other pets and was surrendered through no fault of my own. My owner became sick and could no longer care for me and my siblings. I can be timid at first, but I quickly warm up with scratches behind the ear. Want to know what I love even more than scratches?
Catnip! ♥
►I’m a sweet girl named Sadie and I’ve been waiting for my forever family for over a month. Through my microchip and tags, the shelter was able to track me to multiple homes and owners. In my short life, it seems that I’ve sadly been passed from home to home to home. At 6-years of age, I am a Love Bug who loves meeting new people, giving kisses and getting lots of belly rubs and pets. I got straight As on my grooming report card and came back to the shelter feeling and looking like a new pup. I’m ready for a fresh start and a real forever home. I deserve a family who will love me for the rest of my life. I’m not disposable and neither is my love. I tested positive for heartworms and need a special family who will make sure I get treatment for a healthy heart. The shelter’s non-profit partner, Paws 4 Purpose, helps adopters with the cost of treatment, so please don't let that keep you from adopting a wonderful companion like me. If you are looking for love, I’m looking for you! You can meet me anytime during shelter hours. No appointment needed! ♥
►I’m a cute kitty with a pink nose and a black mask, and I look like I should be a superhero! My name is Barbara and I came to the shelter with someone saying they found me, but I came with a dramatic entrance! When asked to proceed with the intake process, the finder became agitated and ended up dumping me in a crate in the lobby. The shelter is pretty sure that it was my owner who brought me in. Nevertheless, I have fit right into the shelter life so I can fit right into your home. I love catnip, I like meowing at people walking by, and I enjoy taking catnaps. ♥
We are Rain (A487846, a girl) and Storm (A487845, a boy), two fabulous 4-year-old Black Lab mixes who were once housemates, but are now at the shelter looking for a new loving home (or homes). We interact amazingly well together and enjoy each other’s company, so we are hoping someone will see that we’ll bring double the love and fun to their family! Still, it is better to be adopted separately then not at all, so if we find two loving homes, that would be ok, too. Per our previous owner, we’ve been around kids of all ages, other dogs and cats and behaved very well. We are already spayed, neutered and vaccinated and we’d love to meet you, your children and any other dogs you might have. We’re at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington, so please stop by! Adoption hours are Monday - Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For info, call 910-798-7500.
We are sponsored by Adam's Folly Pet Boarding, Bolivia, NC. Thank you!
I was once tied to a telephone pole near a wooded area but, thankfully, Animal Control found me and brought me to safety! Perhaps someone did that because I had a raging ear infection they couldn’t treat - who knows why people do what they do - but my ears have been treated and are healed now, yay! I’m looking to be adopted by kind people who are as friendly and happy as me. The staff say I am “amazing” and I have an outgoing, playful personality. At just 2 to 3-years-old, I’m a Lab mix boy, already neutered, and I’m sure I’d excel in basic obedience classes, just like all young pups. My ID number is A489246 and I’d love for you to visit me at the New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday - Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more info, call 910-798-7500.
I am sponsored by the Hufstedler family in loving memory of their past loved fur babies: Ella, Rex, Misty, Buddy, Dottie and Houston.

◄Howdy, friends! My name is Iris and I’m a 1-year-old Pug/Basset mix girl with a lot of love to share. I am spayed, up to date on vaccines and ready to be a cherished member of your family. I get along well with other dogs and enjoy having fun times with Sasha, pictured next to me. Come meet me today! ♥
◄I’m Suzie! At 1-year-old, I’m a lovely Treeing Walker Coonhound mix girl who is friendly, playful and full of affection. I have puppy energy to spare and would love to meet you in the play yard for some fun and games. We can cuddle, too! You’ll quickly see why I would be such a delightful addition to your family! ♥
◄If you’ve been looking for a cat who could win the ‘World’s Biggest Snuggle Bug’ competition, I’m your boy! My name is Grayson and I’m a stunningly handsome fellow, just 5-months of age. I have that smokey-blue coat of fur that calls to mind the Russian Blue breed of cat. And my personality is as sweet as they come. Please hurry over to meet and snuggle with me, I’ll be waiting! ♥
◄Hi, I’m Sasha, a classic Black Lab mix, just 7-months-old. I am a friendly, playful, inquisitive girl who has lots of puppy energy. I love playing with my pal Iris, who is pictured right next to me. I need an active environment and will do well with training. I am spayed, up to date on vaccines and ready for a family. If your house needs some enthusiasm, I will be happy to bring it! ♥

▼We are a sister and brother pair named Twizzler and Malcolm, just 3-years-old and super-loving as well as playful! We are a bonded pair so we must be adopted together. That’s me, Twizzler, the girl, on top. Malcolm and I both have a genetic eye condition that makes one of our eyes a bit cloudy, but it does not affect our quality of life or ability to bring joy to your home. Come meet us today, please. You will
find us at Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue (SOAR). Adoption hours are from 8am to Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed on Thursday and Sunday). If you have any questions, please call SOAR at 910-457-6340.

Hi, my name is Anna (Ah-Nuh...like from the movie Frozen). I am a 3-year-old Pit mix girl who LOVES people, ignores cats, and will require a proper introduction to new dogs. I really enjoy running and playing in a fenced yard and would love to be part of an active family. I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and
ready to play in your backyard. I can not wait to be in my forever home! Please reach out if you are interested in adopting me by calling 910-256-2624 or emailing carewilmington@yahoo.com.
I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).
SPECIAL HOME NEEDED! My name is Mallory and it’s so nice to meet you. I am a shy 8-month-old, 45 pound Pit Bull who is as sweet as pie! I am so loveable and cuddly and I have the prettiest gray eyes. But, I am afraid of loud noises and new things. I need a very special person and a very special home. Are you special? Do you think you can help me? I need to live in a home with another confident dog who will teach me the ropes and will let me follow them around. I LOVE dogs and I am oblivious to cats. I need a quiet home since I am still learning that the pop of the toaster, the vacuum cleaner, and the sound of a chip bag won't hurt me. I need a fenced in yard and a family with patience and who has experience with fearful dogs. I would not do well with children since I am so easily frightened. When I am scared, I want to run for cover and hide or run to my safe spot. I thrive on consistency and routines and I would love it if my person was home a lot. I am house-trained and I love to sit on the couch next to my person. I love to sleep in bed with you, too. I feel safe on the couch and in bed. When I feel comfortable, I will play with my doggie friends (there is a video on Adopt-An-ANGEL’s Facebook page). I may take months to become a normal dog, or I may always be shycan you accept me for who I am? In summary, I need a couch, a bed, a dog, a fenced yard and a patient person who has experience with scared dogs. If you have questions about me or would like to adopt, please call my Adopt-An-ANGEL foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-3783.
I am sponsored by the Thomas Family in honor of Dill who was adopted from Adopt-An-ANGEL in August 2012.

Hello out there! I’m a fun and friendly 2-year-old Pit mix girl who arrived at the shelter as a stray. No one ever claimed me, so this could be your lucky day! I love to play with toys of all kinds and am very food/treat motivated, which is great when it comes to basic training. My ID number is

My name is Charlie. I am a teeny tiny female kitty who barely weighs 5 pounds soaking wet. I have had a traumatic kitten life and in a tragic turn of events, I saw my brother killed by a coyote. I somehow survived, but I need love and a quiet household so I can build up my confidence. You will not believe how GORGEOUS I am. I look like a little stuffed animal and I love to be held and brushed. I just need someone to dote over me and give me kitty treats. I’ve already been spayed, I’m current on vaccinations, I recently had a full dental, and I’m all set to move in with you. Stop on by our website at www.catfurr.org to see videos of me. To adopt me, text Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab at 864-483-2444 or send an email to adoptafurrcat@gmail.com.
I am sponsored in loving memory of Jane “Button” Honeycutt Spencer.
◄▼We are Maya and Mira, 12-week-old sisters who were rescued from a trailer park where it was too dangerous for little ones to be left alone. We are multi-colored Tabbies, and simply gorgeous! That’s me, Maya, on top. I am loving, sweet and full of kitten energy, and I have an adorable pink nose and black ear tips like a bobcat! I have the most fun tumbling around, chasing and playing with my sister, Mira. She has a gentle nature and is super-sweet and super-playful. She also has the cutest pink toe beans that you will just have to see for yourself.
Although we don’t have to be adopted together, kittens are happier with a playmate to help them navigate this big world. So what do you say, will you come and get to know each of us?
Please call or text 910-599-2755 so that we can pick a day and time to meet! ♥
◄I’m 12-week-old Maisy, a sleek black panther cub who was rescued with my brother Smokey (also featured on this page) after we lost our mom. Like my brother, I’m a sweet baby girl who knows how fortunate I am. I’m comfy in my foster home and get along with cats, kids and dogs. I love all of the attention and really, how can you resist my lovely green eyes, long black whiskers and the gift of having your very own house panther? Black cats and dogs are often the last to be adopted, so adopt me and let’s help break that trend! Simply call 910-599-2755 to arrange a meeting. ♥
◄I’m Smokey, a handsome 12-week-old kitten boy with the softest gray fur. I was orphaned along with my sister Maisy (also pictured on this page) when our mother was killed by a car. Our Mom would be proud of how resilient and amazingly sweet we are, and how we immediately felt comfortable in a new environment. I love attention and to play, play, play with Maisy, other cats, kids and even the foster family dog! Call or text 910-599-2755 to meet me today! ♥
◄▼I’m Rosemary, a 3-year-old mama to four 10-week-old kittens: Mint (pictured here, a boy), Sage, Thyme and Marigold. Mint is sweet and laid-back, just like me, but like all kittens he loves to play, especially with his siblings.
As for myself,
I’m a very chill cat, unperturbed by anything, and I love to be petted and get belly rubs. To meet us, please call or text 910-599-2755. ♥
▲I’m Minerva, a stunning Calico with a touch of orange tabby pattern on my leg. At 1 to 2-years-old, I’m a young mom who was fortunate to be rescued with my litter of kittens. All of them have been adopted and I couldn’t be happier to see them get their own homes. I now deserve a home of my own where I’m loved and cherished. I’m goodnatured, laid-back, I love attention and hanging out with my cat and human friends. I also enjoy chilling by a window, watching the world go by. I’ll fit right in and be your BFF in no time! Call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755 and let’s meet and see if we’re a purrfect match. ♥

ADOPT: All of our cats are anxiously waiting to be adopted! Whether you want a mellow Lap Cat or a bundle of energy, we will help you choose the cat who is right for you!
BUMBLE BEE
My name is Bumble Bee and FURR rescued me from a terrible situation. My big, bright eyes look just like a bee and my colors do, too. I am no bigger than a football and I have quite a silly and sassy personality. After I get to know you, I will follow you around while meowing and sticking my tail straight up in the air. I'm only 1 to 2-years-old, I’m spayed and vaccinated, and I love belly rubs. They tell me that I've probably had a litter of kittens in the past. I wonder what happened to them? All I need is a little patience and love to become your little friend. Please come visit me soon. I would probably prefer no dogs (they stink), loud children (they also smell), or other cats (they'll steal your attention). Just call me "Bee" for short.
DONATE: Covering medical costs, pet supplies and food are every day expenses for FURR. We accept monetary and non-monetary donations which are tax-deductible to the extent of the law!
BRIDGETT & CONNOR
How could anyone resist our adorable little kitten faces? My name is Bridgett and I’m just the sweetest, cutest, funniest, purriest orange Tabby ever. I love to race around and play and as soon as I see you coming, I’ll run right up to you for pets. I love to be held and rubbed, I’m a good eater and I use the litterbox faithfully. My best friend is Connor and he’s a cutie pie Tuxedo boy. He is just the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. We’re waiting to be swept off our paws. Even though we make an adorable pair, we can also be adopted separately.
VOLUNTEER: There are lots of ways to help our cause, from raising awareness about spaying/neutering, to helping with fundraisers or simply volunteering time to care for the kitties!
OSCAR & EMMY
We are Oscar and Emmy and we would be honored to award your home with love and joy. We can provide you with tons of fun every day. We enjoy play time and with lots of room to run all over the house, we will entertain you. We are silly siblings who just love life. At 1½-years of age, we will be the best kitties you've ever had for many years to come. We love new challenges, chasing toys, playing with kids and talking all about it. We are fully vetted, microchipped and ready to rock and roll. Why don't you come play with us and see what we have to offer. Check out videos of us at www.catfurr.org.
I’m Maddie, an adorable Lab mix girl, less than 1-year-old, and I’m full of love and affection! I am very friendly and gentle, and I’m sure to be the perfect addition to your family. I love spending time with people, and I enjoy being petted and getting tucked in at night. I have lots of energy and will be eager to go on lots of walks with you. I am spayed and vaccinated and current on flea, tick and heartworm prevention. If you’re ready to welcome a sweet girl like me into your home, please come to the shelter today! Attention all Husbands! Do you have a wife who wants to bring home every homeless animal she sees? If that’s the case, I am the one for you! I am a pretty girl who was rescued from a mop bucket along with my two babies. I am confident and I like to be in charge but I’m also very social and affectionate. Other cats, dogs and young kids look like they are straight up out of a horror movie - so I need to be an only pet. Husband (aka: my new daddy), I am your ticket because you won't ever have to stop your wife from adopting more and more animals. I offer the perfect excuse. You will never have to say no to your wife as she holds kittens at adoption fairs. I will get to do it for you. You will only have one pet if you come get me. My name is Lysol. Please come meet me at Petsense at 1215 West Gate Drive in Leland or you may call Jill at 910-620-3783 with questions about me. For info, updates and upcoming adoption events, please visit us online at www.facebook.com/adoptanangelnc.
I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster mommies and daddies who care for homeless animals.

►Hi, I’m Nala (AF2939), a super sweet Lab girl who is a dream to walk. You’ll find I slide so naturally right into your life, and I’ll be so grateful that you brought me home to spend my golden years with you. ♥
◄I just don’t know how a sweetheart like me ended up at a shelter at the age of 8-years-old, but one thing’s for surethe person who adopts me will be very lucky indeed! My name is Fuzzy (AF2671) and I’m a spayed, vaccinated girl who is litterboxtrained, of course. I will slide right into your home and steal your heart away with my loving ways. Please come by and meet me today! ♥

I’ll be a fast learner, and I’ll attract attention wherever we go with my handsome colors and all the new social skills you have taught me. I know we’ll be an amazing team, so don’t make me wait, let’s start our life together soon! ♥
◄I’m 8-week-old Raven (AF2963), a baby girl who is waiting with my littermates for a happy home. We are all cute colors and still little kittens, so we’ll need tender loving care until we get big and sturdy. There are other kittens keeping us company here, so hurry over and visit all of us! ♥

◄My name is Tigger! My foster mama named me that because she said I’m kinda goofy. I don't know what that means, but all I know is that she tells me I am a very good boy and very smart, even though I am silly sometimes. I know how to sit, down, sit pretty, army crawl and a couple of other things I won't say so they will be a surprise! I love my furry foster siblings and I love any humans, too. I think they're great. Especially when they're rubbing on me and giving me treats. I went to the vet and I’m super healthy. I’m neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. I sure would like a fenced yard so I can do my zoomies when I want. I'm still a youngin' at about 2 to 3-years-old so I like to play! I wouldn't mind a fur sibling, but I'm ok by myself if you like to have fun and go on adventures with me. ♥
►My name is Yoda and I'm about 2 to 3-years-old. I love my people and would be great with or without a fur sister. I LOVE doing zoomies so I’ve gotta have a place I can do that, please. I'm learning my manners with my friend, Jeff, and my foster parents say I'm doing a good job! They're helping me be my very bestest self. I went to the doggy doctor and all is good with me. I have all my doggy shots, no heartwormies and I’ve been taking medicine every month so I don't get them. I’ve also been neutered and microchipped. So, I am all ready to go. My new family must promise to continue my training because I love it so much. I promise I will be the bestest boy ever! ♥
►Hi, my name is Nacho and I’m the handsome guy you saw on the May 2024 cover! I am around 3-years of age and even though I’m considered a bully breed mix, I am definitely no bully. In fact, I love hugs and always try to be the bestest boy! My current goals are getting someone to throw the ball for me, locating yummy treats for my belly, and finding a loving forever family. I’m in a foster home right now and have three furry step-siblings, which is a lot of fun. One of them makes a weird noise, kinda like a meow, but that's ok with me. I’m a pretty chill guy, already house-trained and leash-trained. I am also vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. My people told me I have heartworms, but that I shouldn’t worry because they will make me all better and, if someone wants to adopt me, they will pay for the rest of my treatments. Yay, for you and me! My foster mom says I am super sweet and she knows I am going to make someone really happy. I’d be good with or without a fur sibling (but no puppies or small dogs), and my paws are crossed with hopes that you want to meet me. ♥
◄My name is Tyson because my foster mom says I was a fighter and a champ. You see, I was itchy, had no hair and something called Demadex Mange. After some vet care, medicine, TLC, good food and cool baths, I’m feeling and looking so much better. All of my hair is almost back and I hardly itch at all. I’m only 4-months-old and I love playing with my foster siblings. I love my foster humans and they all tell me I am such a good boy. It's not hard to be good now that I feel great. I love my foster family but it's time that I find my very own family. Could that be you? I love to play so I’d love having a furry sister and fenced yard, so we can run and play. I'm a pretty mellow guy so maybe you'll give me a chance? ♥
◄My name is Gypsy because I was found as a stray along with my pups. I am about 2-years-old and a really good Mama. I cared for my babies in a foster home and went to the doggy doctor where I got a clean bill of health. I finally got them to eat on their own, but then four more orphaned babies came in who needed me, so I helped them, too. Now they are all doing well and my work as a mother is done. It's time for some "me" time and my very own family. I like to hang out with my other dogs but I would be ok by myself, too. I'm not a big gal and wouldn't take up too much space. I am heartworm negative, spayed and vaccinated and ready to be your girl. ♥

►I'm Holly, a kinda older gal who’s young at heart. My owner passed away and that left me with no humans to take care of me. I was so sad about my owner and then I ended up in a homeless shelter for animals. I was so sad, kinda sick, and scared until I got into a foster program! I went to the vet and feel so much better now. I have a partially collapsing trachea, but I do okay with it. It does make me kinda loud and snorting. I love my foster mom and fur siblings but would like my very own furever home. I don't need much, just a lap to hang out on and someone who doesn't mind if I make some snorts. Us mature gals need to stick together so if you are looking for a little gal who will hang out and love you and be your best friend, I'm your gal! ♥
►Hello, my name is Annie (aka Jade) and I'm about 5-months-old. It’s believed that I lived most of my life in a cage because I had flat feet and was super scared in a crate. I didn't get much attention and was so lonely and scared, I decided to run away. Now, I'm with a super cool foster mom and I have other furry siblings to hang out with until I get my very own forever home. My feets are good and the doggy doctor said I am very healthy! I am current on vaccinations, I’ve been spayed and I even got a microchip. Everyone says I'm super sweet with medium energy. I love being around other furry friends and running around on the grass. My favorite place is rolling outside in the yard - it’s so fun! You should try it! I really hope you want to meet me. ♥
►I’m Emma, a 1-year-old youngin'. I had a bum leg but it's almost all better now. I'm just a dainty little girl and love playing with my foster fur siblings. I am such a pretty girl! I went to the doggy doctor so I am super healthy and ready for my furever family. I am kinda nervous when I first meet you so I hope you'll give me a chance to get to know you and warm up. Life didn’t start out so well for me, but rescuers told me that’s all over now and only good things to come. I can't wait! Will it be with you? ♥
►Hi, Winnie here! I am so happy I can say I'm here because me and my sibs almost weren't. You see, the guy who owned us said he was going to throw us in the river (that couldn't be a good thing) if someone didn't come get us! Thankfully, someone came and scooped up me and my siblings and brought us someplace safe. Now I am waiting for my forever home of my very own. I am hanging out with my foster mom and furry foster brother. I love playing with him, but I think I get on his nerves sometimes. I really like to play and so I would love to find a furever home that has a furry brother who loves to play as much as me! I love running around and I have lotsa puppy energy (just ask my foster mom) so having a place for me to play whenever I want would be pawsome! I am vaccinated, I’ve been microchipped and spayed and I received a clean bill of health. I'm so excited to still be here and not in the river. I can't wait to meet my furever family! ♥

►Hi, my name is Wallen and I am still waiting for my furever home and I don't know why? Doesn't anyone want to give me a chance? I promise to love you! You see, I came from a not-so-good situation and that makes me sad but I LOVE my foster parents and siblings. I know I am a bully breed but I am no bully! Once I trust you, I will love you forever. And honestly, just a few treats and I'm yours! I am learning manners with a really cool guy named Jeff. He says I am a good boy. My doggie doctor said I am healthy and have no little wormy things in my heart. I'm neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention. Sometimes I get itchy skin, but my foster family gives me some medicine so it gets all better really quick. Well, enough about me - What ya think? Maybe you want to meet me? I hope so. ♥

◄Hi, I’m Jules!
I am a very friendly, playful, affectionate and curious Shepherd mix girl. Even though I’m just a puppy, I’m very intelligent and I learn quickly. I love to give kisses and I love
to snuggle up with my human friends. I'm very gentle and I love to be petted and receive belly rubs. Since I’m a baby, I’ll need basic training and potty-training. But I am very smart and I love to please! I am also spayed, vaccinated and current on flea prevention. Let’s meet! ♥
◄I’m a brindle Pit Bull boy named Draco and I’d love to meet you! I enjoy being with people and I love to run and play. I’m eager to find my forever home so that I can shower my new family with love and kisses! At just 3½-years-old, I weigh 65 pounds and am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you already have a dog, bring him or her along with you for a meet and greet! I might be the perfect fit for your family. ♥
◄I’m a declawed boy named Boo who is easy-going and just wants to be loved. I am good with other animals and have lived with dogs and cats. I also could enjoy the company of kids as long as they are gentle. I have only known one home for my entire life and have always been treated with kindness. I recently lost that home because my mom is now in a nursing facility. At 9-years of age, I’m neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and microchipped. Come see what a great boy I am! ♥
◄My name is Dale and I’m a total hoot! I love to play and am good with other dogs. If you have another dog at home already, bring him or her to the shelter so that we can meet! ◄Hi there, my name is Truffles and I’m a beautiful 2-year-old Calico girl. Some have suggested that I am probably the sweetest Calico ever! I love it when you pet and scratch me. I get so happy that I fall over and show you my belly. I am really just the sweetest thing. I am spayed, up to date on vaccines, current on flea prevention, litterbox-trained and ready to go home! ♥
I’m Polly Paws, an elegant older adult cat with a stunning, thick coat of fur that showcases my timeless beauty. Despite my slightly timid nature, I have a heart full of love and a strong desire for attention. It may take a little time for me to warm up, but once I do, I’m a devoted and affectionate companion. I enjoy the gentle company of those who understand my shy demeanor and who can provide me with the comfort and reassurance I need. If you're looking for a loving, loyal friend who will appreciate your kindness and patience, I’ll be the perfect addition to your home. I came to Friends of Felines with infected paws, hence the name Polly Paws. I also had a lot of bad teeth but I’ve had a full dental with several teeth being pulled. At 6 to 7-years of age, I’m in good health. Since I had a rough life of living outside trying to survive, I would be content in a quiet home with a lap to crawl up on. If you are interested, please apply at www.friendsofelines.org/adopt and click on the Adoption Application tab on the lower right corner. For info, you may contact my foster by calling 910-232-7741.

Hi, everyone! If you’re looking for a young pup to enjoy life with, I’m your girl! At just 6-months-old, I’m a Black Lab mix with a happy-go-lucky personality. I’m friendly to everyone I meet and love to play. I’m your typically active puppy who could benefit from basic training, which would be a great bonding experience for me and my new family as well! I am spayed and vaccinated and I’d love to meet any other dogs or kids that you have, so bring them with you when you come. My ID number is A488948 and I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday - Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more info, call 910-798-7500.
I am sponsored by Fuzzy Peach (Monkey Junction). ♥ Free pup cups to any pet that visits! ♥ Fuzzy Peach loves pets.
▲My name is Bella. I’m the beautiful 5-month-old, buff female pictured on the left. Orange and buff females are very rare, you know! Usually only one orange cat in three hundred is a female. This handsome Tabby kitten next to me is my brother, Bosco. We are playful and sweet and we love to cuddle. You can adopt one or both of us! ♥
▲►I’m Zeus and these are my sisters, Zanzy, Zara and Zillow. Even our names sound like a lot of fun! We are very active 4-month-old kittens and we spend lots of time seeing who can run the fastest, jump the highest, and play with the most toys at the same time. Then we all fall asleep in one big puddle of fur. You should come meet us and maybe take one or two of us home forever! ♥
for our forever homes. We are super playful, cuddly and very cute and we would really love the chance to love you! ♥
◄▼We are sisters named Alice and Akira When we were little, we were known as The Smudgies because we all had distinctive markings on our face. It was the easiest way for people to tell us apart. Now half of our litter has been adopted and we’re still looking
◄My name is Quiver and I’m a 4-month-old, female, light gray kitten. I’m quite pretty but I seem to have a strange effect on people. I think I’m very entertaining. You might wonder why I never shut up. I’m also constantly in motion. If I’m still, I must be sleeping. You might think I’m a busybody – I prefer to think I’m always willing to help. But even with all these faults, people seem to like me. You should come meet me – I might have the same effect on you! ♥
►My human family had some personal problems and, for my own good, I came back to Cat Tails. When I originally left, I was tiny, but now I’m a very big girl - even though I’m only 5-years-old. Since gray cats are very popular and since I’m one of the sweetest cats you might ever meet and since I would be a fabulous addition to any family, I really hope I don’t have to spend a lot of time without a family to love. If you come looking for me, ask for Sheba.♥

►What’s up Cat Lovers?
My name is Gideon and I’m a very sweet, loving, and laid-back guy who is current on vaccinations and neutered. I am still young at just 2-years-old. I was originally at an overcrowded shelter but fortunately, I’m now with Adopt-An-ANGEL. I like other cats and dogs and I do well with kids, too. Please come meet me at Petsense at 1215 West Gate Drive in Leland or you may reach out to Sherry at 910-523-1254 for more information. ♥
►My name is Louie and I’m a Hound mix who was left behind when someone in a rural community moved out and left me to fend for myself. I found my way to Adopt-An-ANGEL thru a volunteer. I am such a sweet, happy and smart fellow! At about only 6-months-old, I already keep a neat kennel and use the bathroom as soon as I am outside. I love other dogs and would really enjoy a playmate. I get along with everything and everyone (including cats) and I love to play ball! I am also very quiet and only kind of whimper when I get excited. I am a perfect family dog and have the cutest little cowlick on my head! Please come meet me at our Petco Adoption Fairs on Saturdays from 11:30am to 3:30pm. You may also call Jill at 910-620 -3783 for more info. ♥
►SOLID WHITE CAT ALERT! I’m Jupiter. I love to jump on your shoulders for a good snuggle. I am so fun! I am only 1-year-old, and I am so friendly and social. I was abandoned at a feral cat colony and went through a trap/neuter/ return program. They quickly learned I was no feral cat and deserved an indoor home. They say I am an absolute sweetheart and I do well with other animals and even kids. Meet me at Petsense at 100 Shallotte Crossing Parkway in Shallotte or call Jill at 910-620-3783. ♥
►My name is Turks and I am a gorgeous orange Tabby. I am a young adult who was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. I can be shy at first but I do warm up to become a sweet, social guy. I get along with other cats, but I have not been around dogs or kids yet. Please come meet me at Petco at 324 S. College Road near Market Street or call Jill at 910-620-3783 with questions. ♥
►My name is Mandy. I'm 1-year-old, and I’m spayed, dewormed and have been treated for fleas. I am a dainty, orange female which is a RARE FIND! Did you know that most orange cats are boys? I was transferred from Brunswick County Animal Services along with my 3 brothers and they've been adopted. Now, it's my turn to find my loving furever home. I'm definitely what you'd call a "Cat's Cat". I will thrive with a companion cat (male or female). I'm submissive and will not have any behavior issues. My foster home has a submissive adult male and female and I play with both of them. So if you're looking for a companion for your cat - I'm that cat! I'm friendly, loving and affectionate and very playful at times. I might be a little shy and timid at first, but as soon as I trust you, I will make a great addition to just about any home. I have never been around children or dogs, so that's unknown. If you are interested in adopting me, text Melinda at 910-471-6909. ♥
►My name is Ruby. I am a sweet Pit Bull mix who is eager to please. I’m good with kids and other dogs. I am about 9-months-old and have been working on my leash skills. I am a playful puppy and a fenced yard would be great for me! They say I am a super happy girl who is full of life and exuberance. If you are interested in me, call Sherry at 910-523-1254 or come see me at Petco on Saturdays from 11:30am to 4pm. ♥
Hi, my name is Kai! I am a large and plush 9-year-old declawed Tabby boy. My two brothers and I lost our home when our owner no longer wanted us and sent us all away. We live at a shelter where the people are very nice to us, but we would love homes of our own again with people who will love us for the rest of our lives. My brother Jay was adopted last month and he is so happy! I hope it is my turn soon. I like other cats, I am sweet and calm, and I am neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. Please, won’t you think about giving me a home? Call Sharon from The Ruffian Foundation at 910-262-8890 and let’s set up a day and time to meet.
I am sponsored by Tony and Peggy Durso. Thank you!

Who’s in the mood for some puppy love? I hope it’s you! Somehow all my sister pups were adopted and I’m still waiting for a forever home. At just 4 to 5-months-old, I’m a Shepherd mix girl who is affectionate, friendly, playful and simply adorable! Like all puppies, a basic training course will allow me to shine, and it would be a great bonding experience for you and me. I am already spayed and vaccinated and my ID number is A488759. Won’t you come and cuddle me? Be sure to bring your kids and any other family dogs, too. I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday - Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more info, call 910-798-7500.

CAROLINA BOXER RESCUE
Hi, I'm Maggie and I'd like to tell you a little about me! I have very soft velvety fur and I love to have my belly rubbed. When I'm really happy, I grin and have little dimples (see them?). I also make "Chewbacca" sounds when I'm happy, too.
I like to look at you upside down which my foster mama loves because she says you can see my little bottom lip. I like to stay close to you but will wander a bit to "hunt" down a fly and catch it. Toys are new to me but so far I like to throw them around and shake them. I really like spending time with my foster dad - he's my favorite but shhh...don't tell. I am quiet and calm in my crate and I sleep all night without a peep. Since I don’t hear with my ears, I’ve learned some sign language. My favorite is a thumbs up because I know that means I’ve done a good job. I absolutely love kids but they gotta be sturdy because I am a ball of love and get excited to see them. I also like other dogs and like to play with them, so going for walks in the park is great. If I'm going to be living with another furry friend, I'd like them to be a chill dog! Contact Carolina Boxer Rescue at 910-799-5638, email carolinaboxer@gmail.com, or visit www.carolinaboxerrescue.org to apply. ♥
CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE
Are you looking for a pair of All-Stars to join your home team? Look no further than us! I’m Fenway and I’m bonded with Wrigley. We are more Beagle than Basset, but CBHR took us in because we are so darn cute. We might be named after ballparks in two very different cities, but we are a matched set if there ever was one. Where Wrigley goes, I follow and vice versa. We are great snuggle buddies and perfect pups for a family who enjoys lots of activities. We love to play with toys and our favorite game is watching our foster people pick up and put away all our toys (so we can pull them back out again). We are house-trained and like to ride in the car. We get along great with everyone we’ve met so far. Our fosters haven’t observed us around kiddos, but they feel we would do well with them. Our foster parents take us and our canine foster brothers to doggie daycare, and we love it! We come home exhausted after romping and playing with the many friends we’ve made there. If you are looking for a fine pair of Hounds, you will have won the World Series with us! We are the sweetest! To adopt us or another Basset, please call 888-909-2387 or visit us online at www.cbhr.com. ♥

HOUSE FOUNDATION
I'm Beethoven, a big, loveable boy with an absolute passion for water. Pools, puddles, hoses, buckets, tubs, lakes, rivers, or beaches - if there's water, I'm in my element! My love for water is matched only by my love for people and treats. I'm always up for adventure or outdoor activities. One thing remains missing from my life - a forever home. Despite my large size, I think I'm a lap dog and will shower you with kisses and cuddles. I know “sit” and I’m very treatmotivated, making me easy to train. Due to my prey drive, I wouldn't be suitable for a home with small animals like goats or chickens. My heart is full of love to give. I am a big cuddle bug and I have so much potential to make my future family incredibly happy. My team transports all over the U.S., so my new home could be anywhere (except Hawaii or Alaska). FREEDOM GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE
I am Duke (aka Dude). I am a well-mannered fellow who was taught right from wrong early in my life and they say I am a joy to foster. I am intelligent, playful, fun-loving, and smarta German Shepherd through and through! I am 5-years-old, 62 pounds, house-trained, crate-trained, and very sexy. I take things in stride. Nothing you humans do shocks or scares me. I am super-trainable. I will do anything for a ball and will totally keep my focus on it. You could easily teach me scent work for the fun it would bring us. Because of my need for exercise, a fenced yard may be required. I also like squeaky toys, stuffed toys and rope toys. In fact, I haven’t met a toy I didn’t want to fetch or carry around. While I am good with other dogs and respect cats, it is my human companions that I dote on and want to play with. I live with a female German Shepherd and a fragile 18-year-old cat in my foster home, and we get along fine. I have spent time with small children and did very well with them. I am exceptional and have an energy level to match. Couch potatoes need not apply! If I could be a member of your family, complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org and an adoption coordinator will be assigned to you. Please call 919-670-5905 or email info@freedomgsrescue.org. ♥
Hi, my name is Freckles. Are you looking for perfection in the form of a dog? Ok, so nobody is perfect, but I think I come pretty close. I am a male Spaniel mix who is about 3-years-old. I was sprung from a rural NC shelter. I am already neutered and need to lose about 10 pounds, but I am a joy to be with each and every day. I am house-trained, crate-trained, great with dog (and cats and bunnies) and I love a good belly rub. Taking naps on the couch and just being in the company of others makes me so content. I will make an excellent addition to a loving family. For more information, please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call RescueConnect at 910-302-7290 to schedule a meet and greet with me. Hope to meet you soon!
Hi there, I'm Charlotte, a beautiful Beagle mix girl! At 33 pounds, I'm the perfect size for snuggling up on your lap or going for leisurely walks around the neighborhood. And I may be 11-years-old, but age is just a number, right? I do have some special needs and a bit of neurological history, but don't let that discourage you. I'm a resilient pup with a lot of love to give. My human friends here at Paws Place can provide you with more information about my needs and how you can support me to live my best life. Despite my challenges, I'm a friendly and affectionate girl who adores attention. I'll wag my tail endlessly when you give me pets and scratches behind the ears. I get along well with both dogs and cats, so if you have other furry friends at home, I'm sure we'll get along just fine. I may be a bit older, but I still have plenty of love and joy to share with the right family. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will appreciate your company as much as you appreciate theirs, then look no further! Paws Place is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and no appointment is necessary. Please call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.

My name is Sam (A054846) and I could really use a friend as I’ve been at the shelter waiting for a family since May. I’m just 4-years old and heartworm positive, but they can be treated. Save me, and I promise to save you right back! ♥
◄Spring has come and gone and summer is about to close, and I’m still waiting for a family!
My name is Frankie (A055713) and I’m a 5-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound boy who has been here since April. Is it because I have heartworms? If you save me and treat them, my newly healthy heart will be filled with love for you - my hero - forever. ♥
Open Monday through Friday: 8am to Noon and 1pm to 5pm
Open Saturday and Sunday: Noon to 4pm
Please Adopt! WE’RE OVERCROWDED AND NEAR CAPACITY.
◄Hi there! I’m Oriana (A055221), a friendly and fun girl who is ready to make your life so much happier! Come visit and watch my tail wag as you greet me at my kennel door, then take me into the play area for some cuddle time. I’m a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier girl, red and white in color. I’m spayed and heartworm positive, but please don’t let that stop you from adopting me, they are totally treatable! ♥
◄I’m a Labrador Retriever mix boy named Milo (A056263) and I just can’t understand why I’ve been waiting for a home since May! I’m only 2-years-old with the friendliest personality and sweetest face! Please come out to the shelter and spend a little time with me. I could be the best friend you’ve been looking for! ♥
◄Diesel (A056025) is my name and I’m a total cutie pie who has been sittting at this shelter since May! Can’t everyone see how adorable I am?
I’m just 2-years-old and they tell me I’m a red Pit Bull Terrier boy. I hope you’ll make a plan to come visit and take me into the play yard so you can see why I’m sure to be the best pal you’ve ever had. ♥
◄I’m a FANTASTIC dog named Petey (A043871) and it’s a total mystery why such a cool boy like me is still homeless at the shelter. Everyone here loves me! They say I am so very friendly and a bundle of fun. I love to play, I adore people and I don’t seem to mind other dogs. At about 7-years of age, I’m a Pit mix who is heartworm positive, but that is totally treatable. Please talk to your vet if you have questions and please come visit so I can show you why investing in me and our future together is a winning bet! ♥

I'm Mackerel, the newest member of the shelter squad, and boy, am I ready to dive into life! At just 6-months-old and 35 pounds (and growing), I'm a Shepherd mix puppy boy with big dreams. Sure, I may not have scales, but my spirit swims with the best of 'em! From fetching sticks to chasing my tail, I'm all about making waves and spreading smiles. And hey, if you're looking for a fin-tastic companion to join your shoal, look no further! With each passing day, I'm growing bigger and bolder, ready to splash into your heart and make a splash in your life. Let's embark on an adventure together, where every moment is a reel treat! I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!
Hiya! My name is Mr. Wilson and I’m a very affectionate 4-year-old boy who loves going for car rides and meeting new people. I also happen to be deaf. I will rely on you to communicate with me via body language, hand signals, and even facial expressions. Because of this, our bond will be special and unique! I am great with other dogs but not cats as I find them fun to chase. I have completed a 6-week obedience course where I learned all kinds of things. I have a willingness to please and to adapt to my deafness and I’m learning new training skills. Having the handicap of being deaf does not stop me at all. I’m looking for a family who will continue my training so I can work on learning more hand signals. I’m an all-around amazing guy and would do well with an adventuresome family. I’m also neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Adopt me and let’s create unforgettable memories together! Contact Hamilton’s Healing Hearts by email at hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com or give them a call at 910-271-5170 for more info on me.
I am sponsored in loving memory of Nolan, a compassionate dog lover.
My smile will light up your life and my love will brighten your heart! That’s right, my affectionate and friendly personality will bring nothing but joy to your household. At 5-years-old, I’m a Pit Bull sweetheart who has become quite the staff favorite around here. They say I am “one amazing boy with everyone” and that I’m always happy. I enjoy running and playing with toys in the yard, but I equally enjoy cuddling with my human friends. I am already neutered and my ID number is A479260. I’d love to get to know you, your kids, and any other dogs you might have, so please come visit me at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.

◄My name is Lester T. and I am an old soul inside a young body. I’m 1-year-old and I don’t play too much, but sometimes I can’t get enough of my fishing pole. That little white area on my nose is the perfect “boop” spot, which isn’t my favorite, but it makes my foster mom happy so I’m ok with it. I enjoy getting pets all over and scratches on my cheek and I will snuggle right into your lap. I’m a little cranky when first introduced to other kitties, but I adapt. I’m FIV+ and it is not currently affecting my health. I have a normal life expectancy and can be around non-FIV cats. ♥
◄Hi, my name is Reeses. I'm a spunky girl with lots of sass. But the good kind of sass. I tell it like it is but will love you unconditionally. I love getting attention and pets, and having my long-hair brushed. I had double knee surgery and the doctors said I recovered really well. Something about my kneecaps weren't in the right place, so they had to move them back. Anyway, I would do better as an only cat because, I mean, look at me - I am a queen. I will tolerate and even play with other kitties if I must. Older children would be better for me as well. Hope to meet you soon! ♥
Adoption Fairs EVERY Saturday from 11am - 3pm at Pet Supplies Plus in Porters Neck (134 Hays Lane) or call 910-707-4372 to meet by appointment.
◄I’m Luna Bell, a gorgeous, sweet, spunky and inquisitive 2-year-old lady. I thoroughly enjoy frolicking around the house with toys and exploring. I adore being petted and held, but I’m still learning how to be a lap cat as I prefer to lay near you on the couch! Struggling to survive, I was found outside in some bushes where I was trying to protect my newborn babies. My babies have all been adopted, but my instincts are still strong and because of this, I’m reactive around other animals. I need to be the only animal in the house. I don’t attend adoption events so if you’re interested in meeting me, please reach out to us. ♥
► Have you ever seen such a cute curly-haired orange cat? My name is Shirley Temple and I am a sassy and classy girl who is very good about making her opinion known - I am quite vocal. I always want to be around my people getting attention and getting cuddles and pets. I like to sleep right next to you, and my purr can be heard from across the house. I’m playful and will be a great constant companion for someone. I’m a diva, but I do well around friendly cats with a proper introduction. Please send us a message to meet me in my foster home. ♥
◄▲We are Sansa (Tortie) and Joellie (Tabby) and we’re bonded best friends. I was an animal cruelty case because I was dunked in a tub of motor oil as a kitten. Despite that event, I still love people and am a lap magnet. My friend, Joellie, is blind and required a surgical procedure for eyelid agenesis. You'd never know she’s blind, though, since she has the confidence to get the zoomies all over the house and seek humans out for affection. We are both very loving lap cats with lots of personality. We must be adopted together and our ideal home would be on the calmer side with no infants or toddlers. Since we do not attend adoption fairs, would you please come meet us in our foster home? ♥
►My name is Milk Dud and, despite the looks of it, I am an energetic boy who’s super fun to play with. I love it when you drag a ball on a string or have a laser to chase. When I’m not playing, I love to cuddle with you or lay wherever you’re working or sitting. I may be a little shy at first, but will blossom into your best pal! I would prefer a home with no other cats. If you’re interested in adopting me, please reach out to set up an appointment as I do not attend adoption events. ♥

Hey, what’s up? My name is Lady. I am around 3-years-old, 50 pounds, spayed, vaccinated and good with other dogs. I enjoy hanging outside when it's not too hot and taking walks with people. As you can see, when it's time to relax, I love to snuggle. As you can also see, I enjoy playing with stuffed toys. I am house-trained and crate-trained but loud noises and too much ruckus makes me nervous. So, I would do best in a home with no young children. I need someone patient to work
with me on leash-training since I love to chase critters on our walks. My perfect family will give me time to get used to my surroundings and will have patience with me as I learn to trust. For more info, please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call RescueConnect at 910-302-7290 to schedule a meet and greet with me. Hope to meet you soon!

BOOP, my name is Hope! I am a sweet, playful girl who loves treats and toys and I love to give hugs. A nice couple found me on the side of the road and helped me get healthy. My foster mom has had me for about a year. I love her for taking such good care of me, but I'm really looking for someone who can play with me and maybe even take me on adventures. I love to go for rides in the car, as long as it’s not to the vet. I'm approximately 3-years-old, vaccinated, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm a Treeing Walker Hound so I have a hound voice. Are you looking for a loving friend with a zest for life? I'm your girl! Make sure you have plenty of stuffed toys for me to disassemble because that’s my second favorite thing to do after riding in the car. If you would like to meet me and see if I’d be a good fit for your family, contact my Roseys Rescue foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com or calling / texting 910-547-0998. Thundering Paws Pet Adoption
►My name is Dove and I’m a beautiful 3-year-old, longhaired, gray Tabby with some beige on my chest. I received complete vet care - a blood analysis to check everything and I’m healthy, negative for Feline Leukemia/ FIV, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. I love to be petted on my head and under my chin. My name is Dove because I love to ‘coo’ and talk to you. My favorite place to sleep is near or even on you. Once we are no longer strangers, I am very affectionate. I went through rough times while abandoned outdoors (without front claws) before I was rescued. I am wary of other cats and dogs. I prefer to be an only, indoor kitty in a quiet home. I hope my pet parent is patient and understanding to wait for me to relax and show my love. ♥
◄My name is Clyde and I’m a 1½-year-old Tabby. I am the cat ambassador here. I love all the cats and will rub on kitties to be friends! With humans, I am a little shy at first but I’m very affectionate and enjoy pets and belly rubs once I get to know you. I do not enjoy being in a crate at pet adoption events because I like to walk around freely and I easily get frightened by loud noises. I’m up to date on shots, neutered, tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV and microchipped. I’m ready for my forever home! ♥
►Hi, I’m Precious! I’m a 1-year-old, longhaired affectionate Calico who loves to make biscuits and make you feel cherished. I like to follow you around and give you head rubs and kisses. I arrived at Thundering Paws along with my kittens but I am ready for adoption since my boys have since found loving homes. I am spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and enjoy being held. Even though I’m tiny at just 6 pounds, I’m a fearless kitty. Will you please give me a forever home? I promise to be your faithful companion. ♥
◄Hello, my name is Breo and my sister, Bluey, found her forever home. Now it’s my turn. I was born in April 2024 and I hope to find my forever home in August 2024. I am a cutie pie, I love to be petted and I just want to make everyone smile. I tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV, I’m dewormed, and I’ve had my first round of vaccinations. I was saved from a shelter
where I had run out of time to find a home. Would you like an affectionate and playful boy to bring you joy? ♥
►Hi, my name is Gardenia because I was found alone in a gardenia bush! I’m an 11-week-old, affectionate and playful boy! I know, I know… Gardenia for a boy. Well, I first appeared to be a girl but as I grew, it was evident that I am in fact a boy. I get along with young kids, cats and both small and large breed dogs. I tested negative for Feline Leukemia/ FIV, I had my first round of shots, I was dewormed and I am on flea prevention. I’m looking for my loving furever home! My vet care is provided by ‘in memory donations’ for cat advocate, Ruth Sandefur, mother of Thundering Paws’ founder. ♥
►Hello, my name is Oreo! I was rescued from under a shed at Lowe’s. I went to the vet and tested negative for Feline Leukemia/ FIV, and was dewormed. I’ve had my first round of vaccinations and will be spayed soon. I love to play, I’m very friendly and I’m litterboxtrained! ♥
