From the very beginning, my world view of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity was one of pure excellence. As a legacy, the impression that my Sigma father and Zeta mother has shown me was one of valuable brotherhood, academic excellence and service to all to uplift us all. This is my foundation, which has helped to shape my Needlessnetwork. to say, my choices of friends, network, or homies was predicated on a give-and-take of positive peer pressure. I was always reminded of the phrase “you only go as far as the company you keep.” Today, I can honestly say that, the men of Theta Mu Sigma Chapter, Sigma Beta Club, my Delta Theta Chapter brothers and Phi Beta Sigma brothers, whom I’ve met since obtaining this position, have given me an enormous network that will yield endless opportunities. I congratulate every graduating brother we’re honoring in this issue and encourage each of you to reach out to at least five brothers in your career industry. By expanding your circle of influence, you’re investing further in your future.

Again congratulation 2022 graduates!

Sixteen collegiate Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., representing all seven regions, traveled to Washington, DC to experience the 2022 session of Sigma Week on the Hill (SWOTH). Selected for their stellar campus

and chapter leadership involvement, the young brothers spent three days of obtaining first-hand knowledge of the policy-making process.

For the first year, Phi Beta Sigma and SWOTH organizers joined the other fraternity affiliates of the National Pan Hellenic Council, Inc. and held the NPHC Fraternity Days On Capitol Hill. Fraternity leaders and registered participants attended two days of panel discussions and legislative advocacy. Sigma collegians were fully engaged participants, representing the largest collegiate contingency amongst the four organizations.

They will support park operations and the development of strategic goals that will align the National Park Service and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. to cultivate a formal partnership at the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site, Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, and the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail. SUMMER 2022 • 15

These young men are part of an inaugural program. Because of the extraordinary men who were members of this great fraternity, like, Dr. George Washington Carver, Congressman John Lewis, and many Tuskegee Airmen, we see alignment in our organizations’ strategic goals and values connected to stewardship, service, and leadership. We hope to make sure that we help cultivate these and other youth leaders for federal service.

Mr. Petty is a socially active student who enjoys helping others and bringing people together. With his social skills and knowledge, he plans to become an inventor and CEO of his own technology company that will advance the world to a brighter future.

Brother Jared Willis is a senior from Montgomery, Alabama and is enrolled at Alabama State University. He is a part of the National Society of Leadership, Success and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity Inc. Once he graduates, he plans to pursue a career in music education to become a band director in order to teach young musicians that music can take you to places, and inspire them in new ways to express themselves.

Brother Zekari Gordon is a Biology major with a concentration in PreHealth and is a Spring 2022 graduate of Alabama State University. Originally from Tuskegee, AL, home to the Tuskegee Airmen, Mr. Gordon has a passion for learning new ideas and skills that would help him in the “long run.”

Brother Shawn Petty is a junior; Business Administration Major, enrolled at Tuskegee University. He is part of the Class of 2022 hailing from Lorain, Ohio.
