Lee Sims, 325th OSS SERE training supervisor. “It’s my job to advocate for the isolated person and make sure America’s future POWs are taken care of.” The two-man SERE operation is new to Tyndall, but not unfamiliar to operational fighter wings across the Air Force. As the “Installation of the Future” continues to evolve into a fully combat-capable F-35A Lightning II fighter wing, supporting operations are navigating a new environment as they figure out how to effectively support the overall mission. “Our job here at Tyndall is to apply our support capabilities to the F-35 platform,” said Sims. “We do this by fulfilling the preparation and planning portions to the personal recovery enterprise, for example, SERE Refresher Training and exercise development for deployment preparation.” Currently, The SERE team conducts Local Area Survival courses with plans to add Water Survival Training and Emergency Parachuting courses shortly. For the growing fighter squadrons to become fully combat mission ready, they will be required to take Combat Survival Training and Conduct after Capture courses, which Sims explained, are

Our shop has the largest retail inventory of diving and snorkeling gear; and the moment you walk in you’ll be greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable staff that are ready to help! So come on by to meet us and start your SCUBA adventure here with Diver’s Den! Visit our website at diversdenpcb.com.
Come shop with us in Historic Downtown Panama City….our area is growing and is a fun place for all! We are working hard to bring a unique shopping experience to the area. Items in our shop are Found, Made and Gathered. Our tags tell the story! If it is Found (F) it’s a great day when we pull these unique items! If they are made (M), we know it’s valuable because creativity takes time, love and effort! The Gathered (G) means it is mass produced which we appreciate because it is giving lots of people jobs! Thankfully, most of these products are made in the USA, and many of our artists and makers are from the South. We hope you are inspired as you shop for a unique gift or find something super cute for yourself! We hope you will stop by our shop to browse our carefully chosen pieces. The Ensemble of Excellence Once again, The Ensemble of Excellence will accompany the Christmas Eve service at Grace Episcopal Church in Panama City Beach. The Ensemble is a string quartet of professional musicians, all of whom have been members of the Panama City Symphony Orchestra: Francette Bullock, Rose Dorcy, Yasya Brown and John Divine. The Ensemble will offer classical and traditional sacred favorites on Christmas Eve, and will be joined by Kim Jacobson the parish Organist and Choirmaster, along with choristers from Grace Church. Fran Bullock, the Team Manager for The Ensemble, said:

With this increase, GCSC was one of only four Florida College System institutions with a positive FTE trend this year. As recent high school graduates consider where they will begin their college journey, I highly encourage all recent Bay, Gulf, and Franklin County high school graduates to take advantage of an incredible opportunity that GCSC offers for the fall semester – the Gulf Coast Guarantee. This covers approximately 60% of the cost of tuition and fees for an in-state student taking 12 credit hours (full-time status). More information about the Gulf Coast Guarantee can be found at gulfcoast.edu/guarantee. During the summer, the College campus is not only bustling with our college students, but also many youth from Bay and surrounding areas. Summer youth programs in sports, STEM, and STEAM kicked off in June, and are sure to capture the imagination of learners of many ages. Over the course of the summer, the College will provide hundreds of students between the ages of 4 to 15 years of age educational and learning opportunities. You can find more information regarding our summer youth programs, as well as getting your student registered at gulfcoast. edu/youthprograms. 54

“Eyes Like Yours” "Eyes Like Yours," an FSU thesis film, was shot by Gabrielle Chapman and her great crew in Panama City Beach and on the streets of downtown Panama City. The Martin Theater made the perfect framing for a few important scenes which will be shown in the Film. Thanks to the Quality of Life Department for posting “Welcome to Panama City” on the marquee, as it will be seen in the film itself. This film has triggered two other films to be produced in Bay County as well in 2023.
“Search Party” "Search Party," a new show on the Weather Channel, filmed their first episode here. The show is a result of the popular You Tube Channel show “Jiggin’ with Jordan” with over 3.2 million followers. Brandon Jordan takes his trusty industrial strength metal detector and dives and snorkels popular dive spots and locates lost items. It then becomes his mission to find the owners of the items. Vortex Springs, Econfina Creek, the jetties and several popular wrecks were filmed for this episode.

Mayor, CITY OF PANAMA CITY BEACH
he City has two exciting projects around town that I’d like to encourage you to add to your “to do” list as we move into the fall. Both projects enhance our environment aesthetically, while one salutes our brave service men and women.
In June, we unveiled 10 new sculptures as part of our SeeLife public arts project. Brightly colored seahorses and dolphins were painted by local artists and have been placed at local businesses, restaurants and hotels. Expanding public art has always been a priority. Art enhances and beautifies our public spaces and makes for a more attractive community. It allows us to grow our cultural tourism while reinforcing our community identity. Public art shows our pride in our community, and it encourages community engagement and an appreciation for the arts.
A huge thank you to our artists for sharing their talents and the entities who agreed to house them:
Lee Ann Leonard – seahorse at the entrance to Pier Park Julie DeFelice & students at Walsingham Academy – seahorse at Wonder Works; dolphin at Beef O’Brady’s Jeri Saulsbury and Majestic Beach Resort friends – seahorse at Majestic; dolphin at Day’s Inn Ashley Windsor – seahorse at Casa Loma Michelle Jones and her daughter Amy Propst – seahorse at City Hall; dolphin at Man in the Sea Museum Amanda Maxwell and the Gulf Coast School for Autism – dolphin at RC Real Estate Group Amanda Hunt and Bay High School art students – dolphin at St. Joe corporate offices This project was funded by Visit Panama City Beach. Our second community initiative honors our veterans and enlisted personnel through the placement of our Veteran Hero banners. These banners represent all branches of American military service and are hung on the light poles with the Front Beach Road CRA (Community Redevelopment Area). They can be seen on Powell Adams Road, Front Beach Road, Richard Jackson Boulevard and South Thomas Drive. I encourage all of you to take note of them and remember these men and women who served our country proudly, ensuring the freedoms we all enjoy today. Banners are still available for purchase. They are $100, and the banner will be returned to the purchaser after Veteran’s Day. This is a great keepsake for families. Contact Communications Director Debbie Ingram at City Hall for more information.
