Good communication will teach us to understand better what other people wants to tell us. If we know on how to share we must also know on how to listen. Because listening is learning. We need to discover others hidden side because nobody is perfect it is possble that the knowledge and skills of other people that was none to you is possesed by them. In our modern times social disorganization are still existing the possible reason to this is the lack of understanding to each and one another. Another possible reason to this is our today's politicians and leaders are lack on proper trainings in terms of good governance and leadership. PACSA is one of the training ground that builds a responsible and dedicated leaders and for me as young student leader it is a honor and privelege to be part of it.

ime really flies fast. The past had been forgotten in the present and will surely continue to die in the future. Today’s generation focuses on modernization like technological advancement, social media, international relations etc. The society keeps on moving forward even in the field of education. The old curriculum and traditional way of teaching is slowly changing and converting into an easier and new way of teaching approach to learners. Everything can be learned through screens, and books were being hidden inside the cabinets and libraries. Philippine heroes are fond of being forgotten as years passed by because there are people who arise even when they are not doing anything like fighting and battling for the country. General Antonio Luna, considered as “Heneral Artikulo Uno” the Director General of the war in the American Colonization in the Philippines, General Gregorio “Goyo” Del Pilar, the young general who is known for being the “Hero of Tirad Pass”,
NUTSHELL OF LIFE By Cindy Galvez
When I was in elementary, I was taught that education was to be acquired. It was the very time that everything I learned or didn’t could impact the rest of my study period. I didn’t see the purpose of my mother being me up over failing the “ABaKaDa” over and over again or my father not letting me to play in the afternoon before I manage to answer his “mathematical equation”. Little did I know, those would be 70% of how the society will perceive me, or worse, judge me in the next few years. And yes, it was the best of times: we were free and encouraged to dream - I once dreamed to become the President of the Philippines; very ambitious, isn’t it? Going to high school, I started to take up decisions and learn through experiences by myself. The hardest lesson I was taught was by experience: nothing is ever as easy as we wish and want it to be. It was the time I slowly became independent on my parents: made a lot of mistakes; bruised and made aware of the wrongdoings of the adults. Before I became passion-

ate with learning and writing, I was first in rage with how our societal system had been. With a mind that was cultivated by the elders and a vulnerable emotional capacity, I fumed and bashed what I know but didn’t fully understand. But I never regret any of it because it was how and why I knew that no age, title, or name could ever be as perfect as it may seem if it was only meant to cope with the rest of the world. Now in college, I’m still one with my loud mind and unsilenced ink. My thinking never changed, it only got a little better and worse in its own way. It is the time that I’m learning that learning is endless - that we must learn as if we are to live forever while we savor every phase of it. What I hated about the system and norms that was set to create meeting ends are both true and needed to withhold as I shape it and let it shape me. What we learn in school isn’t necessarily how we will use it in our everyday lives but what it teaches us throughout the process, or even literally, help us distinguish with a basis. We may never be very prepared for whichever life may throw at us - that’s what I learned so far. That is why every right or wrong person, place, event or chapter of our lives, I strongly believe that we must cherish every bit of it and savor the flavor of our one and only life.

in hands of the colonizers. Their objective to free the country, willingness to set aside their personal goals, and the belief that the Philippines is for the Filipinos is very much important and honorable. Because of them, we are having the freedom that they truly deserve. There are so many Filipino who had become heroes in the past that is forgot-
ten today. The people especially the youths are more interested in knowing other country’s history more than knowing our own. They tend to look for a different perspective when it comes to nationality and heroism. I believed that children, mostly the student must recognized and study the history deeper than what the modules, given
books, and internet is teaching. It is the greatest gift and way to show respect in their cruel past that makes a bright present and independent future for us. We must appreciate and honor our heroes for their sacrifices to become worth it as they also believed that we are worth the fight.
Capturing the Future
you, they will explain the situation, give all the point of view, and will make you believe that there’s something you can do about it. Campus journalists write together to inform their fellow students. They make them se out of the box. They lead them to act responsibly to help our country. The word bias is out of the journalists’ vocabulary; they give their opinions to help others think of what the best actions are. With our helping hands, we should surely bring progress and changes, not just to ourselves, but also for our beloved country. We work not because for our bread and butter, but to love our country and fellowmen. With these, we create change in our own little way.
In this competitive world, future educators prepare students for the demands of the future. They have to be communications and relationship specialist. Which will make what they were teaching become more effective to produce productive students that will impact the future of the society. Donaldson reiterated that the future teachers should not only base their teaching on test items but also focusing on the skills of the students. One of the purposes of getting proper education is to be a good citizen and to be successful. With that, education became a necessity and that’s what the future educators should sustain, to hone the skills of their students in preparation for the reality of life in their future.

Give your journalists pencils and they will draw actions for our nation’s problem; give them pens and they will write ways for our nation’s success. Indeed, campus journalists are burning torches that fire up the frozen spirit of nationalism within their fellow journalists, schoolmates, and students. At present, the Philippine government is facing a lot of controversies and issues. Corruption, poverty and crime are some of those problems that should be addressed and prioritized. For the public, these problems seem to be difficult to solve. However, everyone surely can help to amend these problems, even campus journalist can. Actions and solutions for our nation’s problems are on the process. In the same way, campus journalism is in action to educate the students to be more aware with the issues of our nation. It’s always in the process and must always be. Ask a simple student regarding our country and he will just answer. Ask the journalists and they will not just answer

Teachers of the future will have to teach to the skills not the test. The fear of being held accountable for everything event we can control in the classroom is a major aggravation and has forced many to “teach to the test,” Stacey Donaldson, Mississippi’s 2009-2010 Teacher of the year, said her speech about the teachers of the future.

MALL. Sometimes, it is used to describe something that is little in size – just like you and your friend. Most of the time, it is used to describe something that is lacking in strength, for example, “having a small voice”. But, have you ever used that word to describe how you feel? Have you ever felt so small? Being a small girl with a small voice, perhaps you wondered and asked yourself, “How can I be heard?” or something bigger like “How can I make a change? I’m just like this”. And if you’re passionate enough, you tend to do everything to cover-up those small things that you own. Small things that you count as failures. Perhaps, you’re thinking that you cannot move forward because of your small imperfections – being quiet or being loud, energetic or lethargic, giving too much effort or not making an effort at all, and many more reasons just to end up hating yourself. Whenever you think how small or insignificant you are, or when you feel like you cannot accomplish anything though you are doing your best,
take a long PAUSE. Gather your thoughts and think of your small realizations you come up with when you’re just relaxed and have nothing to do. Maybe you thought of a possible solution for the traffic in EDSA. Maybe, you’ve come up of a random but logical explanation of how to have a better educational system. Maybe, you realized something absurd that no other people can think of but it can be a cure for cancer. We’ll never know but those small and seems random realization of yours cannot be counted as failures. It should be counted as something like a small step towards the biggest development that could ever happen in our society that nobody could ever think of but YOU. But then, by doing everything on your own, you have less time to think this way. You forgot your amazing thoughts. And by only looking on the bigger picture, you overlooked the small details that actually works and very meaningful. START. The world never really gave too much attention to this word. For some, it could be a big word, but for
Do yourself a favour By John Mark Cafe Discipline. Student. School. These three words typically something ordinary. Discipline, a way of behaving that shows willingness to obey, rules and orders. Student, a person who studies something. School, an institution for educational instructions. However, when woven together form an unbreakable intertwined thought of extraordinary value. School disciplines students. Disciplined students are found in school. Agree? Can we say that PCCM students are disciplined? Let’s find out. As of school year 2019-2020, 1st semester, there are 195 students in Hospitality department, 128 students for Education English majors, Majors in Mathematics were 49 and Social Studies were 102. For the second year, 166 students for hospitality, 96 students in Education English majors, Mathematics were 51 and 95 students for Social Studies. For the 4th year were 39 students for hospitality, 59 students for Education English majors and for the Mathematics were 21 students enrolled 1st semester in Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan having a total of 992 students.
Even so, with our school full effort and implementation of rules and regulations to be followed inside the premise, our natural personal existence prevails – we are rebel. We disobey. We do not follow. Based on PCCM policies on student discipline - Chapter 8 of student handbook whereas prescribed guides for conduct at school like, wearing complete and proper uniform, proper haircuts, attending school right in time and attending classes and showing off polite and decent manners to the school’s officials, heads, teachers and other personnel are more often violated by some students. Discipline – sometimes a noun but most of the time a verb, an action word, something we should always keep in mind and apply in our daily lives. At school we are taught of discipline but we never did. We always take and we never give back – what a selfish act. To be disciplined conveys a deep understanding of our very self that we must not just receive but give as well. At school we must be disciplined because it’s the right thing to do. To my fellow PCCM’IANS, please do our school a favor. Be disciplined.
most of us, we never really bothered to really understand the meaning of this word because we are too focused on the bigger and more visible things such as our goals and dreams. We are all unique individuals, therefore we think of different ways to start and achieve that goal and dreams. But the most important part of achieving that is to CHANGE. If you failed, get up. Failure is a part of the process of change, it is never a person. If you get tired, rest. Don’t be too hard on yourself by doubting the things you’re about to do or been doing now. Just start. Because once you do, it already made an impact. It already created change no matter how big or small you made your action. It’s good to make small changes and much better when it’s done by everyone because that way, we can make the biggest change that this world can never imagine. You want to change yourself for the better? START.
Rethinking of the Philippines’ Educational System
The state of a nation relies in the quality of its education. One never reads a book just by its cover—a book is known for the beauty of every ink and space in its page; not just how it looks like on the outside. For looks can be very deceiving: a lesson worth teaching the youth nowadays who are very fond of basing their judgment upon seeing just the tip of the iceberg—unaware of the depth of the roots of where they came from; seemingly seeing things from the wrong perspective, destroying the little good of what was left from the past. It is both sickening and saddening to witness just how education and the justice system are taken lightly by the ones who know nothing about it. Sad to say, the Philippines’ current status is immensely reflected on how poor its educational system is nowadays. As a matter of fact, in a survey conducted by 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), Philippines has the lowest reading comprehension and second lowest in science and mathematics among 79 coun-

August-December 2019 You want to change the community you’re in? START. You want to change the system? START. Finally, be brave. You can be heard. Joined by a thousand small voices who shouts their own battle cry with you. Because no matter how small you are, or your voice is, or your realizations are, it will be heard. It will be done. Because just like how a small spark can cause a wildfire in the forest, so your voice will be heard together with people who has the same outcry as you. And this small, seemed insignificant and useless action, will create change. And it starts with you. Are you willing to make small those small changes? If you are, stand firm on your decision. Make sure to take care of that change you are about to do so it won’t die and become the thing that you fear the most. Be committed on whatever change you’re thinking right now.
POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE OF THE CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN VISION The POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE OF THE CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN (PCCM) envisions to provide socialized quality education in producing highly competent and skilled professionals in the fields of arts, science and technology.

It is no wonder why pagbabago and pag-unlad are rarely or worst, never seen in the faces of the Filipinos and in the technological advancement of the country. Still, as long as education breathes with its kindling fire, there is still hope for tomorrow. As a future educator, the pressure and responsibility to pave the way for the improvement of the community lies heavily on the shoulders of each. Teachers are hailed as modern day heroes and primary breeders of professionals but not sapat enough to shake the slumbering bosses and to be treated just right for their quality of service. Now, one cannot help but wonder if being a teacher and serving motherland is still an oath to be sufficed or a distant memory once reminisced. Back then, if a child was to be asked about his/her dream someday, he/she would be so sure to answer with “I want to he a doctor and heal sick people!” or even “I want to be an artist and become famous!” and of course, “I want to become a teacher and be like ma’am/sir!”. But now, teachers are hardly even respected nor heeded when they beg for a little raise in their salary nor when someone overreacts when they think that a teacher abuses their child’s rights over simply filling their lack of enforcing discipline in their homes. The sad reality everyone must face tomorrow is its own nation dragging itself down out of pure ignorance. The youth is the world’s future and there is no better preparation for the unknown but to arm oneself with knowledge.

August-December 2019
By Prof. Maricris M. Ampuan
The Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayanand Hospitality Management Program are proud of its graduates for they have passed the demands of the present trends in the labor-oriented Hospitality Industry. One excellent representation is Patrice M. Dela Cruz who graduated in 2016 and is now featured in the Hotelier Maldives January 2019 publication, Volume 5 Issue 036 featuring Women in Hospitality. She was featured as a power woman at Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives working as a Lifestylist. Patrice M. Dela Cruz is an ordinary student that shares the same dilemmain life with most of the students - to graduate and alleviate the family from poverty. During her College days she supported her finances by working at MC Donalds. Responsibilities of being the eldest and product of a broken family had not been an obstructionfor her to earn a degree. Her first hotel experience was being a Banquet and Sales Coordinator at Green Hills Elan Hotel where her salary was used to support her siblings’ education. Her hotel experience continues at BSA Twin Tower Hotel, holding the same position. With the emergingdemands for technicallyproficient hoteliers to young professionals and a referral from her aunt, Ms.Patrice considered the opportunity of working abroad. Her love and passion to work in
Hospitality industry landed a remarkable career in Maldives. Presently, she is aLife Stylist Front Desk Supervisor at Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives handling preparation of guest arrivals, assists and plans for guests’ excursions, tour, special events until guest departures. Her remarkable journey started when she was trained to jointhe14th Hotel Asia Exhibition and International Culinary Challenge. Her aspirations and fighting spirit brought pride to Cinnamon Dhonvelibeing hailed first place in the Tea Challenge Competition. Winning in the exhibition made her realized that as a hotelier, one should be flexible and must allow oneself to transcendcomplexities to fullpossibilities. In the Hotelier Maldives, Volume 5 Issue 036 featuring Women in Hospitality, she was asked if she noticed any differences between resorts in the Philippines and Maldives with regard on how the female staff is treated. She answered:“There has been no issue on the treatment. I find it more motivating as whichever career you choose. You have to learn how to get along with various personalities on a daily basis which simultaneously grooms us a person.” Apparently, Patrice’ professionalism and attitude towards work are the key motivators of Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives, molding and empowering young aspiring hoteliers. With all your journey to success, your Alma Matter counted your achievements as one of the many living proofs in the materializationof the dream and vision of the Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan - equipping the less privileged youth with the skills and competencies needed for employment.
A World without Teachers A world without teachers will be dull because teachers they are the ignition to a flame – without them, our dreams will not be shaped and molded. Many say that changes are the only permanent thing in this world. Change means improvements, innovations, and developments. Maybe, without great teachers, there will be no changes. The world together with the great ideas of every child will be completely frozen. Without teachers, great ideas will be stagnant just like the water in an oasis – untouched. A world without teachers will be incomplete because teachers fill the gap that parents lack. A teacher serves as the nurturer of every child from basic to tertiary education. They nurture the seeds in every student so that, one day the society can have great leaders, doctors, engineers, and people. Imagine a typical classroom has 40 students with one teacher and each day the teacher will continually water the seeds in every student. They do it every day. Isn’t it a very tedious task? A world without teachers is impossible because a world without them will be in chaos. A world without them would be a world of misinformation – where everyone is right and no one is wrong. A teacher provides all the essential
information that we have today. These pieces of information are needed to be excellent and intellectual individuals. They taught us theories, techniques, values, and a lot more things that serve as our pillars to stand against the world. We have brighter and better futures because of our teachers. A world without teachers will result to an unshaped future. The future will be imbalanced and fragile just like a sword without a sword smith. Swords forged by a real sword smith will result to sturdy and sharp swords. Similar to the future, a future shaped by great teachers will result to a perfectly shape society were everyone can have opportunity. It will be a future with individuals that can protect and stand for the right. A world without teachers is the world we don’t want to be. It is a world that I am afraid to exist. Teachers are needed in this world because they are the reasons why youth can be the hope of the future. They cultivate and hone our talents and skills for us to be better individuals. They sacrifice their time to provide and exude excellence in their vocation. A world without them is a world we do not want to have. By: Pablo Loreniana

Last October 31-Novemebr 2, 2019, I attended the 2nd International Conference on Psychology, Counselling and Education (ICPCE 2019) together with Professor Maricar Ortaleza-Paper Presenter and Professor Rona R. dela Rosa-Paper Presenter. ICPCE 2019 was jointly organized with the International Society of Psychology, Counselling and Education (ISPCE), GetPsyched and University Malaysia Sabah. Under the able leaderships of DENNIS RELOJO-HOWELL, Founder of Psychreg (UK), FRASER SMITHCEO of GetPsyched (UK), with DR NOOR HASSLINE MOHAMED- Lecturer, University Malaysia Sabah, DR BERNEY WILKINSON, Keynote Speaker, Webster University (USA ), this research conference brought together a collaborative scientific community of faculty, researchers and scholars to advance and support rigorous, evidence-based empirical research in the fields of psychology, counselling and education. The University of Malaysia Sabah, the venue of research conference is a thriving university at the heart of Asia. It
is the ninth Malaysian public university located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. As a federal statutory body, it operates under the supervision of a Board of Directors, a body that directs and supervises all affairs of the University which comprises a Chairman and ten members who are all appointed by the Minister of Education for a three-year term. As paper presenters, the importance of attending a relevant research conference had been so challenging because educators like ushad taken an ample opportunity for change and improvement in our line of specializations. This conference was also highly participative because it promoted the dissemination and exchange of ideas in a variety of formats, across a range of research domains. Being a part of this rewarding experiences, with my paper “Challenges to Administrators of Local Colleges in the Province of Bulacan”and Prof. Maricar Ortaleza’s “Effects of Assessment of Learning in Metacognition and Academic Achievement”, this research conference helped
us to grow our professional network with the right people, boosted our knowledge and enhanced our research career through a platform that connected us with scholars and associates across the globe. Participating in a world-class conference can present some tough challenges, but if we adopt a positive attitude, it can mean a leap forward in our research work. There is a saying that meeting challenges brings out the best in us. By conference,we will develop ourselves and grow the reputation of our academic institution like PCCM - Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan. At the conference, we can direct towards academic collaboration with fellow researchers and experts from different countries. There is no greater satisfaction than receiving appreciation and encouragement for our works.Showcasing the best research material, a well-organized conferencelike ICPCE 2019 can show us a new approach, an easy explanation, and a solution to complex problems.
ACSO FOR AN ASTOUNDING CAUSE By Frescy Lagamon
Have you ever hit by a ball from a volleyball player, playing at PCCM’s Student plaza? Maybe you have already noticed the freshly re-painted grotto near the canteen. Of course, who wouldn’t be carried away by the awesome expression of jiggle and graceful taunts of the P-style Dancers? By any chance, may be you’ve witnessed someone at the crowd stretching their hands upward not to cheer a contestant but to prepare their cameras and force a way closer to the venue just to catch a perfect angle of momentum of a particular event. If you had seen and witnessed some of PCCM’s programs and activities, then, maybe you rae part of its facilitators or you are just an audience. For sure you are already aware that those activities were under the leadership of our accredited college student’s organization (ACSO). It only means that our institution does not only focus on academic activities rather we are also living our core values. Through different organizations, we can showcase where and what were good at. We have our mother organization which is the College student Government (CSG) to organize an activity that suits for us to exhibit our excellence and transform us individually. Those activities are being backed up by our Academic, socio-civic, arts, sports, and cultural organization for intermissions, physical arrangements, documentaries and by the presence of our Multi-faith organization. This all means that every organization collaborate with each other to uphold camaraderie and unity. Thus, organizations do not isolate one’s skills; it exhibits them and associate with each other to produce an astounding cause.
